Lovely job. While I understand some of these comments about the pitchiness and the tempo, I find it in character. Plus it is such a hard song to sing! And I definitely give her props for the calling out to Murray - Whenever I sing a song with dialogue in it I'm bad at getting in character enough to be able to do that kind of dialogue without getting a little out of it.
Her voice is a little off and she only has the accent at certain points in the music which throws it way off. She also does musical theatre like things like with her hands at the end, Jason Robert Brown's stuff generally isn't like that, it's more real than musical theatre
I like this productiion of this show, but she needs help with this songs. This is all wrong. She is having some major timing issues. and her comedy is getting all lost in this. This song has ebb and flow she has a nice voice but neither ebb or flow and she forgot to make it soung pretty.
It's called artistic license. They chose to make this song more dramatic than it is in the original. That's their interpretation. There's nothing wrong with that. I don't know why everyone is ragging her for yelling. That's just how she interpreted the character. Just because she doesn't choose to portray the character in the manner you're used to doesn't make her less of an actress, rather quite the opposite.
Well honestly, this really isn't meant to be a "pretty" song. If it were any other song than I would understand, but the character in this song is a bit hysterical. So the yelling here is totally appropriate.
when i went to see this show, a staircase with an attached windowsill to the top, where the singer stood, so that there was room for the other actors to be the crowd. at the end of the song, instead of screaming and falling, she ended the song with Murray coming up behing her wrapped in a towel wearing a shower cap, with shaving cream all over his face with his arms halfway up in the air looking clueless as his wife stood in an open window with one foot dangling out. haha, it was kinda funny.
Haha, I just watched this again and it made me remember how funny it is. It's such a hard song to sing, but I think you should get away with the shouts as part of the character you portray, it was classic! Love it x
Wow, really really good ! At first I didn't think it would be, but as the song went on you did a wonderful job not only with the acting and singing, but I thought the accent was good, too. Very good job !
You guys are rough! For being a high school performer, the group of 4 do an AMAZING job! Cut 'em some slack...they've got a lot of growing to do and a lot of potential to grow with.
It's because they're all trying to sing exactly like the CD recording of the show - the kids all have brilliant voices, but the interpretations aren't anything terribly original...
wow... you guys are being rather harsh little theatre queens, aren't you? first, there are many things that all of them have done to make the songs their own. of course there will be moments that sound like the CD, it's the same songs! would you like it better if they just rewrote them all?? and the line about the accent sounding fake... really??? should they have cast a real, middle-age, jewish new yorker for the ONLY SONG SHE NEEDED THAT ACCENT??? come on people... they did great!
Oh geez. The ending actually convinced me that she fell...

I agree about the singing the same as the CD. And you can tell that the accent is fake.
