William Donnelly from Lucan town Ontario would own all of you..well, if u play better his family will find u.....the Black Donnelly's Ride, down the Roman Line..
Donnelly, any relation to the Donnelly's of Biddulph Ontario? If so maybe he can finish off what should have happened to this bastard of a clan back in September 17, 1858.
Comparing Donnell Leahy to Ashley Macisaac is like comparing Steve Vai to Slash. Both very talented, but also quite different from one another. I think a good bit of the difference lies in how formally-planned their pieces are. Leahy writes out everything (possibly because there are a ton of people in the band who need to keep up with chord changes, etc), whereas Macisaac is almost totally unscripted. I don't think either approach is easier.
I was lucky enough to see Ashley MacIsaac and the Chieftains play in Cape Breton, Ireland's best known traditional musicians playing along with some home grown talent is great.
He can play and dance like that? He's like something out of the 19th century, and to me that's very cool. B)
Anyway that's cool Ashley performed with the Chieftans...what probably a decade ago? I remember seeing and hearing songs from the Chieftans on PBS back then, and thinking that the one guy Paddy (I think) sort of looked like a long lost cousin of Oasis' Noel& Liam Gallagher's mother Peggy! (And maybe he is? I dunno..lol!)
there's an old phrase: "talking about music is like dancing about art."
I suppose it means that it is useless to express music any other way than through music.
Yet here Ashley expresses it all!
He is so great, beyond all boundaries, a great artist!

Hey Kasiwha, I grew up with that guy. I'm his brother. He did make it big. He is what most of us wish to be, contentedly happy.

He looked like a numpty.
I'd like to have set that hairdo ablaze with a lighter, just to clear the thatch.
On a positive note though; paganini was an amazingly talented violinist/musician.
Thanks :)

He did the first part of The Chieftains once, so they already know who he is.
But he doesn't have his kilt.

he got Paddy Maloney and the rest of the Chieftains to play with him so he must be doing something right.
