Players are all made in lifelike realistic poses. Unbelievable how they capture the unique characteristics of each player in action in a still figure the way they do.
Each is a work of art that puts the old, crude by comparison Hartlands to shame.
question i been a artist my whole life and tried sculpting in the past but dropped it...does anybody know where the best place i can go for school for something like this and jobs i can get into...would appreciate it much
the figures are great, Im just getting pretty damn sick of the shipment delays that seem endemic of this company. If the coopstown 7 figures arent gonna come out till late April, DONT SAY MARCH ON THE STINKIN WEBSITE!
Man, all this time I thought McFarlane figures were so realistically SCULPTED by hand! It's almost like cheating that they scan someone and then "print" them! No wonder they look so realistic! Still pretty cool though. But not what I thought it was.
@restlessdaydreamer They still sculpt the faces from hand dumbass. That takes immense talent. Especially concerning the scale they work in. Their talent is incredible. And don't think for a second they couldn't sculpt a body. He even says in the video that they sculpt the bodies when they can't get the pose. I'm guessing you're not an artist or you would know sculpting with no 3D references is damn near impossible. And yeah so what if they scan. They're still a damn business trying to save time.
@yourmomlol3 why so gosh dang harsh on me? What did I do to you? Sheesh. And for your effing information I AM an artist indeed. I sculpt scale model toys and some minor figurine work. I've made molds of my original sculpts and sold finished models and even model kits to countless people on a professional level. I went to school for liberal arts, music, and industrial design technology.
@yourmomlol3 Who the hell are you to call me a dumbass? I never said McFarlane artists didn't have talent. I never said they wouldn't be able to sculpt a real face or body. Where the hell did you get all that? DId you not WATCH THE EFFING VIDEO and see them scan a FULL MAN IN POSE?
@yourmomlol3 I own many McFarlane products myself and had always admired their work. Yes they sculpt onto the base figures, but from what the video itself showed, it seems most of the basework is derived from a scanned subject. Go and click on the other links after that video that show them scanning the FACES of the cast members from LOST, asking them to do different expressions. Why? Because they use those exact expressions on the toy, idiot!
@yourmomlol3 Any sculpting (resculpting) they do is to tweak the pre-existing SCAN, you freakin numbskull. YOU'RE the dumbass. So go eff yourself once you figure the heck out how.
So there. Jerk.
For the record, McFarlane toys look really neat, and I like them. Maybe one got stuck up your piehole. There's a remedy for that: UNCLENCH.
@restlessdaydreamer agreed with everything you said. I actually once thought McFarlane himself sculpted his first line of Spawn figures. Was a little dissapointed he didnt. But that didnt stop me from buying literally 108 Spawn figures over the course of 7 years lol.... Its also too bad theyre made of shoddy plastics. Almost all of my figures broke somewhere simply from posing them. Some came broken out of the package. :( I still love them though. Great sculpts. I want to make my own figures.
McFarlane Toys got real cheap along the years, that's why so many good sculptors and artirts left the company, and are currently working on some companies that still make awesome toys, and only work with traditional sculpting not machined shit.
@granfo Um tell me about these good sculptors and artists that left the company. McFarlane had to cut back on employees in the pass few years but who would leave at will?
I would also like the know the companies they're working for the make toys from scratch. I seriously want to know this information since you are so informed. You won't.

@granfo I agree. Once the Halo toys dry out, McFarlane won't have anything to hold it up.
