@jmotz3 I agree. I think that's why most youtubers relate to my videos more than these more "scholarly" players. Too much theory actually can get in the way of playing with feeling and connecting with the audience.
@SpaceHead99 There really isn't a "jazz" trumpet, just jazz trumpet players. That horn is a Schilke X3 which I don't have anymore. I now play a Bach 72GH LB.
Thank you! Just purchased your Method via pdf format. Your video inspired me to pick up my trumpet and practice. I currently play jazz trombone and would like to branch out to trumpet. Looks like a nicely structured book.
Eric, you need to incorporate more of these kinds of licks into your smooth jazz recordings. Dude, you have so many great jazz chops that you should be showcasing all of that talent (and many years of woodshedding) into all of your playing. BTW, I love the exercises in this video. Great stuff, man. I'm buying your book!
great ideas! im a soon to be ninth grader and i've been playing for 3 years. im loving these tips because im planning on joining jazz band soon and this puts me a little ahead. thanks so much:)
Great ideas here. A lot of jazz methods books are too step wise, and not really useable ideas. I would totally use this lick in any solo. Great stuff.
The trumpet is a beast of an instrument. I'm trying the pencil thing, been playing lead in a top 40 band and its kicking my ass. I'm not used to it but I got the gig and have had to adapt. Is that you playing at the end of the video when the music kicks in?
