@BROADTRAIN1979, This is accomplished by a magnetic reed switch embedded in the track right at the point where the third/fourth rail ends, wired in series with a white LED. On the bogies fitted with cosmetic power pick-up shoes, a small magnet is glued to the underside, so the switch will close for fraction of a second as the train passes over it. In the case of the 1992 stock, there are two Tenshodo motor bogies at each end. The magnets in these are strong enough to close the above switch.
I ordered it from Metromodels and then super-detailed it and fitted DCC for more precise speed control. This is a six car train and it took me about 1-2 years to paint, build interiors glaze, etc. Well worth it!
Very nice work! Is the "arcing" simulated or real? If the former, is it a system you might disclose? I have to do the same for some tram models at the overhead frogs.
Yes, this is achieved by a white LED embedded in the track along with a magnetic reed switch. A magnet is glued to the underside of the bogie (only the bogies where there is a 3rd/4th rail pick-up). The train passes over the reed switch causing momentary closure and the LED to illuminate. There are some very bright surfacemount white LEDs on the market nowadays, so it should be somewhat straight forward to use this scheme with one of these LEDs embedded in your catenary frogs.
Hi daleksec53, OO scale is the same as Hornby at 4mm to a foot. HO is 3.5mm to a foot, so slightly bigger. The train was built from a Metromodels kit which has been super-detailed with lighting and interior. It took about two years to build.

@adder12 So I Probably Won't Be Building That, I'll Most Likely Browse Through Hornby, Bachmann And Peco Trains To See If They Ever Brought Out a Tube Car Set.
Hornby, Bachmann and Peco have not done a tube train to date. You should look at EFE, who produce very fine tube models in four car sets, but do have to be motorised.
@daleksec53 Brilliant I've Just Bought a Motorised 4 Car Package 1959 Stock Northern Line red, white & blue livery For £272, I Might Also Buy a Few More Stock Cars. Cheers.
I built the station using 4 inch diameter PVC pipe. The advertisments and Underground signs are done on a colour printer and the track is PECO code 75 with third and fourth rail.
you should make doors open and close. that'd be cool. Thumbs up if you agree

First Question, you say 1:76, Is that LGB (British) Or 00 Hornby (British)? And If It Is 00 Where Did You Get The Train From?
