i love how before the test, there main hook was that the guy could change bllod pressure etc, and it could be picked up by their technology, so it was scientific.. then as soon as the test went wrong one of the scientists blamed the technology that before they held as evidence

Where is the wonder in making up answers to things you can't explain? The universe is complex enough that we don't have to kid ourselves to be amazed or mystified. Randi is a magician. He deals in fun and wonder! The problem is people like you would rather believe he was a wizard than accept that there's actually a valid and interesting explanation for the tricks.

The paranormal was popular in the old Soviet Union,too. A Hungarian journalist wrote an article debunking UFOs in the 80s. He got an "official" response from "above", from a party member. I was:

"The Russian Comrades see UFOs, therefore UFOS exist, so stop this skeptical debunking"

As we know now it was all a part of a deception, to distract attention from real military tests.
