  • Gourgeous!

  • I'm not old enough to see the film but if the books were anything to go by the films should be epic!!!

  • This version sounds so EPIC!

  • It could be a lot better honestly..

  • @SicStoneknot

there is a longer vertion but in my oppinion it looses all tension witch makes it kick ass

  • @andrayathevampire I don't know, maybe it's because I'm not much of a techno or industrial rock person.

  • Such a good movie.

  • sucks ass

  • Internet Tough Guy/Hipster

is getting the most thumbs up

    WTF

  • Damn, they really put in a lot of effort and research into the sound of this cover. Kudos. I agree with the idea that Reznor fits best in the world of soundtracks.

  • @linxcor an an avid NIN fan, I hope he returns to the studio to record some new material for that someday...I agree though, The Social Network and The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo had phenominal soundtracks. Not to mention the work he did on Lost Highway.

  • @MCKT2806

Nobody likes an asshole. Reading is incomparable to video games. It's like comparing social media sites to a trip to europe. Reading is the stronger form of entertainment, hands down. Books are far superior.

  • @herpdsohardIderpdxD i agree and disagree, it depends on the book and video game, hell, some good video games can be better then well written books. its not simply "all books are better then all video games!" i mean i hated that one book they made us read in school "Cather and the Rye" id take any video game over that crap, but give me the LOTR novels and ill spend my extra time reading them. it all depends

  • @hellchild65 He's not referring to good books vs good games. He's referring to the fact that books require imagination and enrich the vocabulary, thus making them an intellectually superior form of entertainment in his opinion. And I agree with him. People who read books tend to be more successful in the academic and professional worlds than people who play video games.

  • @xXRubella666Xx well of course lol, i dont think wed have any good doctors in the feild for ex. if they couldnt open up and read a single pg off of a text book

  • was this leaked? how was it uploaded on june 2011?

  • how can ı download it?

  • Well done Reznor, my only doubt would be... When the hell this song is used in TGWTDT?

  • @KazumaBajoCero have you seen the film? totally sets the tone for the movie. dark and brutal

  • @KazumaBajoCero led zeppelin didn't want the song to actually be used in the movie... so they used it in the intro. it's great.

  • this movie was amazing

  • worst cover ever

  • @sexymetalfan I fuckin love Zeppelin and this song is BADASS

  • @sexymetalfan AGREED

  • This part freaked me ouuuuuttttt.

  • This is one awesome cover, I'm sure I will draw hate mail but I have to say I like this more than the original, it is just that as @meecheekitten said her voice is orgasmic, and I would love to hear a longer version of this!!!!!!!

  • Just saw the movie this morning. The movie is great and it opens with this song. Hearing it played over the movie speakers was friggin great!!!

  • holy shit! this is great!

  • awesome ost, and the intro was awesome! movie. just go and watch. will watch sweedish version too. i hope Fincher shot 2nd and 3rds too.

  • Is there a longer version of this song?

  • This should have been so much better... The industrial beat kicks ass but the effects and guitars are weak and tinny. Remix?

  • @danfromabove What about the crap vocals, or the farting into the microphone at the end ? You need to pile on harder.

  • I dunno i love the orgional but this one is pretty cool.

  • awesomeeeeee,awesomeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

  • Led Zeppelins version will always be better than this

  • @manning55 Agreed. This sucks compared to the Led Zep version

  • They're not supposed to be the fucking same! This version was meant to be heavier, darker, and more disturbing due to the theme of the movie.

  • shit pity this track won't be on cd :((

  • @andrayathevampire It's actually on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Soundtrack. You can buy it off Amazon or even on iTunes lol

  • I don't understand why we couldn't live with the Swedish version with subtitles or voice overs. They do it all the time to our movies, are we really against foreign films that much? Anywho, luckily Karen O saves the day with an awesome remake.

  • Awesome song, amazing movie, amazing opening, and <3 Trent Reznor

  • Bit of Movie Trivia: When you see the new film you'll notice that one of the characters is wearing a NIN t-shirt when Lisabeth goes to see him.

  • Nine Inch Nails should have covered the entire song. That would be so badass.

  • @Minacious This isn't Nine Inch Nails. It's Trent Reznor. He likes to keep the Nine Inch Nails work separate from his modern work. He did an interview on NPR a few days ago where he even said that thinking about his earlier work is embarrassing and depressing for him (he's moved way beyond being the kind of person that identifies with what he wrote), and he gets really tired of performing it on tour. He burns out on it REALLY fast.

  • @afivey

i thought it was a good way of merging lisbeths main characteristics....her hacking skills, her leather attire, how violent she can be and how her sexual awareness

  • @barrymowatt16

Granted it did that, but I feel it was redundant: all those are all really on show throughout the entire film, whereas *why* she's a prolific hacker, dresses to differentiate and has an unconventional sex life isn't meaningfully shown.

Besides, her main characteristic is she's alone - or mostly wants to be. She stops probing questions by not replying and making anyone asking as uneasy as possible. Blomkvist is the exception, sure, but she's hardly defined by him.

  • I just saw TGWTDT today. Much as I like this remix I was left wondering why it was immediately used over a gratuitous intro sequence. I didn't pay to see Spiderman, or a Bond film. Certainly felt strange watching a man meekly exiting a courtroom afterwards.

After Fight Club's intro sequence Ed Norton has a gun in his mouth and is racking his brain trying to make sense of the mess he's made his life and figure out how not to eat a bullet. That made sense to the story.

    But TGWTDT's one didn't.

  • @afivey i was thinking the exact same thing when I was watching the film today.

  • I know nothing beats the original but I love this version too Karen's voice is amazing love Reznors arrangement.

  • the movie is a bad remix. the theme song is a bad remix. karen o sounds like lady gaga. three more reasons to not pay for this movie.

  • Pssht. Fluff.

  • LMAO i just came back from seeing the girl with the dragon tattoo and I tripped balls when Heard Karen O's orgasmic voice <3

  • @meecheekitten you should hear robert plants voice...

  • @meecheekitten I think just like you....the credits were a blast!

  • Amazing how Trent Reznor took this otherwise average song and turned it into something AMAZING!!!

  • @jonb5150 Yes, average. Prepare to face the Led Zeppelin fanboy's wrath.

  • I love Karen O. Saw the movie last night, exceeded my high expectations.

  • This made the movie beginning good.

  • just recognized that lizabeth salander of the girl with the dragon tattoo is erica "b for barely anything there" albright from the social network

    oh SNAP.

  • I love this so much. As a HUGE Led Zeppelin fan, they did an amazing job. Fits the movie perfectly

  • I love the tone this song gives to the movie. I got the chance to see it yesterday, and Trent and Karen did a great job with this. Kudos.

  • This was my favorite Zeppelin song, I like this version better.

  • pure adrenaline ^^

  • Oh on covers.....don't forget Stairway to Heaven google Taurus-Spirit. The bands were on tour together before the song ever came out.

  • If any of you idiots read an actual book or even saw the original swedish version of the film (subtitles, reading apparently still to hard for you) you would know how well this song actually fits with the film. sure its a cover but a well done one for the context.

  • @KEJ11606 UNfortunately I adore the directors films and rather prefer the film over the book if he is directing (or swedish film). How do you think this song relates. I'm curious.

  • @KEJ11606

    you're funny, and right on!

  • @KEJ11606

    It's too*

I guess spelling and grammar are too hard for you

  • @DMCouser3131 haha it's too hard for you too because obviously you would know that since spelling and grammar are under the same subject, when you use it in a sentence like that… the correct form would be I guess spelling and grammar is to hard for you. LOL

    pwnd

  • @KEJ11606 Thanks for telling us how you are far superior to us mere plebians... I was getting worried that there was a lack of douchebaggery in the comments section.

  • @KEJ11606 always hated how people become so arrogant and so 'up their own ass' for thinking they are better than other people for reading books. Not everyone loves all forms of media. You wouldn't like if I called you an idiot for not playing a certian game before it became a blockbuster film; now would you? Stop with your shit.

  • @KEJ11606

Americans are accustomed to subtitles, it's a fact. If we became accustomed to then it would be successful here.

  • Lets be honest the original sucked anyway. Zeppelin hated the song and refused to perform it at their reunion gig, this cover sucks even harder.

  • Led Zeppelin.... Amzazing. Trent Reznor.... Amazing. Their covers... Amazing.

  • Nice. I like it better than the original.

  • Regardless of what side you are on....

...still better than Kashmir getting sampled in a Diddy/Puff Daddy song...

  • that investigator girl reminds me of L from death note with the strangeness and the way she acted in the trailer

  • Its a movie set in sweden.. and features a gothy gal.. so yep lets have music from 1973 ... put down the bong people. Its a pretty killer version. Half of Zepplins songs were covers or nearly so.

  • @hokiejames zeppelin were one of the most original bands to brace this earth their blues, folk, country, and rock and roll influences have changed the way rock music is made today. They stole alot of songs agreed but they made them their own and people will remember theirs in most cases. There's no way half of their songs were covers.

  • . SO you think they are gonna play the original.. Get over your Zep is the best band for those of you that didnt think they ripped stuff off.. Damn . how many songs they ripped off got sued over about 10 . And you all are so much more uptight than they are.. Hell Plant is doing bluegrass, Page and JpJ are jamming with Jack White.. Looks like they have moved on.. Now maybe you should take your black light posters out of your moms house and do the same. It is almost 2012 and there is new stuff

  • @kirielvids

    Awesomeness. Lol dupstep... bahahaaa!!!!

  • I disagree. Trent used to use his talent in an angry, hostile, mechanical way. The sound resembles the industrial tones of his later stuff with/as NIN, but what happened? I've been disappointed ever since the Fragile came out. No more cryptic lyrics, just weird artsy stuff and now covers? Sad...

  • typical reznor sound

  • Nobody caresa about your 'professional super important and valuable opinions' how the song sucks and why it does. Clearly it's not Rebecca Blacks 'Friday' or something unlistenable, so you can swallow your big fancy egos and urge to shit all over another artists' view and reproduction and just shut the fuck up.

  • the Difference is that when Led Zepplin covered/stole a song..their version was pretty fucking awesome....this...is ....crap...but then Trent has a habit of taking a perfectly good song and turning it into a bag of shit.....1000 homo Dj's (him and ministry) crapping all over Black Sabbaths Supernaut ......is just one of the many good songs he's ruined.

  • @dschesters So it's acceptable for an artist to cover (or "steal", if you insist) a great song so long as you, personally, approve of the outcome? Gotta tell ya, not sure if this feels like a reasonable standard.

  • @endersgame55 um.... its not just me who thinks its crap.

  • @dschesters That's true; according to the Like bar, 63 people agree with you. Well and good. But none of you own the song, your opinions aren't worth more or less than anyone else's To say that it's "different" (ie, more acceptable, more legitimate) to cover a song when it pleases you, and less when it doesn't, is to assert your own opinion as the objective barometer for the rest of the world.

  • @endersgame55 ok...in my opinion i think its crap, and in my opinion the other covers he's been involved with have also been crap, on the other hand.. in my opinion led zepplin are better at covering/stealing songs than trent..that better?

  • God this is terrible. PS. Whole Lotta Love was a cover too. Willie Dixon sued Page and won on that one. Guitar is different, but Plant completely lifted the lyrics wholesale. They were forced to give Writers credit to Dixon after he won, but if you look on the original LZ II record, no credit was given. That one is just blatant and wrong.

  • wow this is fucking awful

  • Karen ya me cagabas, pero con Reznor lo que quieras.

  • Nice cover! Industrial Zeppelin!

  • great cover- totally new spin on the tune.

But BTW, rawj77, put your money where your mouth is before you start using words like "ripped off"- document what they stole and didn't credit, please! clearlyfoe, thanks- not talking about you.

  • "You Shook Me"

    "When The Levee Breaks"

    "In My Time Of Dying"

    "I Can't Quit You Baby"

    "Gallows Pole"

    "Dazed And Confused"

    "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You"

Led Zeppelin's numerous covers. This is just the studio albums. Still adverse to covers?

  • @clearlyfoe "Dazed and Confused" doesn't count.

  • @clearlyfoe Not to mention, the studios were allowing sampling 25 yrs ago. Check out the Beastie Boys first album- lots O Zeppelin on that.

  • Trent ! We are waiting for next Oscar ;)

  • This is pretty noisy. Its like they recorded in a dumpster.

  • For those of you who are young and dumb. Trent Reznor did this style of music far before Dubstep was even a form of music. And he's been at it since the 80's. Dubstep is just a radical spin from old shit.

  • garbage...

  • i think zeppelin would like the spin they put on it. simply because it is different. zeppelin liked being different.

  • It's pretty good for a modern revision.

  • This is actually pretty awesome!

  • I like it but I wish it was harder, more intense. With like a dubstep type of feel to it. I want the DJ Skrillex remix!! Maybe with some angrier vocals.

  • @SoldierSide77

    1) Skrillex is not a DJ. DJ's play turntables and mixers, Skrillex uses laptops and MIDI controllers.

    2) You will regret the day you wished that Skrillex remixes Led Zeppelin. Do not ever do this again.

  • @dallascarney - I didn't say I wanted Skrillex to remix Led Zeppelin. I said I wanted him to remix THIS which is Trent Reznor/Karen O! Not the same. And I love Led Zep so don't get me started. Ok if Skrillex isn't a DJ what do you call what he does? Is there really that much of a difference nowadays?

  • @SoldierSide77 you say dupstep but then you mention skrillex?? who isnt dupstep

may i ask what you where thinking ?

an no before you say it skrillex is NOT dupstep

  • @pumbakung ???? skrillex is dubstep

  • @kirielvids

He's really not. He's produced some dubstep songs, yes, but he's more of an electro house producer. Although, you can't really tie down Skrillex to one genre seeing as his music is ever changing.

  • @kirielvids hahaha no skrillex is not dupstep

he may have done some dupstep inspired songs but even those arent really dupstep

  • @pumbakung i would have probably left it alone but you obviously know nothing about DUBSTEP. you called it duPstep 3 times. Dub. Not DUP. if you are going to argue about something know enough about it to spell it correctly.

  • @kirielvids its called drunk google it

an i still made more sense then you xP

  • @pumbakung getting drunk alone? pathetic. at least find some friends.

  • @pumbakung Really? Then educate me please? Who is a true Dubstep artist? The best in your opinion? Wait...maybe you should learn to fucking SPELL "dubstep" first. Dicklicker.

  • @SoldierSide77 true dubstep: digital mystikz, shackleton, scuba, pinch, peverelist, loefah, distance, cyrus, kode9, ramadanman, matty g, benga, skream, search & destroy, zomby, neil landstrumm, ...

btw i think the song is good but her voice sux ;)

  • Reznor is such an amazing artist and producer. I love zeppelin, and the girl that is singing does a perfect job for the type of song it turned out to be.

  • @SuperRedeyedtreefrog I think they'll be ok.

  • This is a great cover. It's different, which in my opinion, many people can't handle change. Poeple who are closed minded and automatically say, "The original is better!" Even if that is the case, which is a personal opinion. Take in mind that this version is good as well. I love it.

  • I like Trent rezner but i don't really like this

  • In here, kids who don't know what "industrial" is.

  • @40AcreMule just because it's not to your liking, doesn't mean it isn't to everyone elses :)

I like both the original and Trent & Karens.

  • full song at the (rock it out blog) website............this song is sick

  • This isn't the full version and it's all chopped up - we'll have to wait for the official release before we can have a nice and hot warez version.

I have heard the full version. Beware trying to pirate this film, 'The Man' has closed everything up tighter than a snare drum. Loads of fakes - x264

  • not realy feelin' it, less powerfull than zep, lost of flashy noises in there to distract from the fact that its not a band feeling it. but respect to it for what it is.

  • kinda sounds like something marilyn manson would do

  • Comment removed

  • Full version is on Itunes now :)

  • Most people don't realize Zepp ripped off many of their biggest hits from other bands anyway, so who cares if ANYone puts their spin on it? Its like all the people that bitch and moan about movie remakes. Many "remakes" are remakes of remakes too!!

  • @rawj777 Exactly. Now tell that to that little bitch @MixxMasterKid so his mom can come change his diaper so he can take his afternoon nap.

  • @rawj777 True, they're just a lot more open about it now.

  • @rawj777 this is complete shit. Zepp have their influences like any other band, but "ripped them off", I don't think so. In my eyes (I am a big NIN fan) Zepp are one of the most creative, inspiring and original bands of this generation.

  • @samsoniteeee this generation meaning born slightly after wwII?

  • @rawj777 Like Girl With the Dragon Tattoo...?

  • Comment removed

  • @rawj777 Name one major song that Led Zepplin "ripped off" as you say. I can't think of one. So I think you are lying. They are well known as one of the most influential and most importantly original bands of the day.

  • @lollipopfop earfarm.com/features/daily-feature/monday/1820

  • @lollipopfop led zeppelin didn't write their own music. every song was a cover/rip off..

  • @rawj777 Yeah from many Chicago Electric Blues artists... Of course they were masterful and talented enough to compose their own hits and own sounds too. But yeah

  • @rawj777 u jelly brah?

  • @rawj777 List these sources please. Who did Led Zep rip-off?

  • @Godhatesfatpeople EVERYTHING IS A REMIX on Vimeo look it up

  • @Godhatesfatpeople Much of The Lemon Song is borrowed from Howlin' Wolfs song Killing Floor. It also borrows the line "squeeze (my lemon) 'til the juice runs down my leg" from Robert Johnsons Traveling Riverside Blues and also borrows elements from Albert Kings Cross-Cut Saw. But this was more or less Zepps way to put a spin on songs that they usually preformed live themselves during their early days. Wolf even sued Zepp for using parts of Killing Floor without his permission.

  • Comment removed

  • @Godhatesfatpeople jake holmes and the yardbirds for starters. i cant come up with any others at the moment but you would be surprised.

  • @Godhatesfatpeople pick any American, Black Blues musician pre-60s and that's who.

  • @ironman276

    lol just stop

  • @Godhatesfatpeople Uh, just about every american blues act pre- 1960.

  • @Godhatesfatpeople Shut up. They did NOT rip Led Zep off. Its Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, And Karen O.

  • @Godhatesfatpeople earfarm.com /features/ daily-feature/ monday/ 1820 Also on youtube, look up Led Zeppelin - Rip-off Arists (yes its mispelled) They were great, but they also didn't credit everyone they should have.

  • @Godhatesfatpeople about every blues musician: lee hooker Robert johnson

  • @Godhatesfatpeople - It's common knowledge that most of the album Led Zeppelin I was made up of "borrowed" material. They are notorious for plagiarism. Look it up:

Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" - A folk song by Anne Bredon, this was originally credited as "traditional, arranged by Jimmy Page," then "words and music by Jimmy Page," and then, following legal action, "Bredon/Page/Plant."

"Black Mountain Side" - uncredited version of a traditional folk tune previously recorded by Bert Jansch.

  • @Godhatesfatpeople

"Bring It On Home" - the first section is an uncredited cover of the Willie Dixon tune (as performed by the imposter Sonny Boy Williamson).

"Communication Breakdown" - apparently derived from Eddie Cochran's "Nervous Breakdown."

"Custard Pie" - uncredited cover of Bukka White's "Shake 'Em On Down," with lyrics from Sleepy John Estes's "Drop Down Daddy."

"Dazed And Confused" - uncredited cover of the Jake Holmes song (see The Above Ground Sound Of Jake Holmes).

  • @Godhatesfatpeople

"Hats Off To (Roy) Harper" - uncredited version of Bukka White's "Shake 'Em On Down."

"How Many More Times" - Part one is an uncredited cover of the Howlin' Wolf song (available on numerous compilations). Part two is an uncredited cover of Albert King's "The Hunter."

"In My Time Of Dying" - uncredited cover of the traditional song (as heard on Bob Dylan's debut).

  • @Godhatesfatpeople

"The Lemon Song" - uncredited cover of Howlin' Wolf's "Killing Floor" - Wolf's publisher sued Zeppelin in the early 70s and settled out of court.

"Moby Dick" - written and first recorded by Sleepy John Estes under the title "The Girl I Love," and later covered by Bobby Parker.

"Nobody's Fault But Mine" - uncredited cover of the Blind Willie Johnson blues.

"Since I've Been Lovin' You" - lyrics are the same as Moby Grape's "Never," though the music isn't similar.

  • @Godhatesfatpeople

"Stairway To Heaven" -the main guitar line is apparently from "Taurus" by Spirit.

"White Summer" -uncredited cover of Davey Graham's "She Moved Through The Fair."

"Whole Lotta Love" -lyrics are from the Willie Dixon blues "You Need Love."

There's a list of just SOME of the stuff that Led Zep 'borrowed'. Count em up...that's 17 songs just to start with. To clarify, LZ are legendary; one of the greatest metal bands of all time. I'm a huge fan. But they DID plagiarize material!!

  • @rawj777 who did zeppelin rip off from? And which songs?

  • @mdsanchiz there's an article on Cracked (dot) com about it

  • karen o still sounds like shit. pretty good though, at least its really original.

  • Trent reznor & karon o has made the best remiz/cover of the hit led zeppelin song ever!

  • SHE DESERVES TO BE SKINNED!!

  • It's ok michaeltgrace because Zeppelin probably stole the original from some old black Americans anyway. So shut up and enjoy a new, original take on an old song. Karen O rocks!

  • @kennybob7 Hey, I am enjoying it. I'm a huge Nails fan, and am enjoying it for what it is.
