@thirteenunderscores lol, australia. you guys drive on the wrong side of the road. I sure wish holden and ford of australia exported cars to America, tho, you makes some FAST cars.
Holden has and does. Holdens are actually cheaper to modify for power and speed in the States than they are in Australia. Check out Pontiac GTO, Pontiac G8, Chevrolet Caprice.
damn! at first when i saw the title i was like, who would supercharge a s13! but then i just saw and by the looks of it, it does work good! props 2 u!
supercharged any good for drifting? im a bit on the "low income" side so turbo is out of my list. nice drifting. as long as you go sideways and it looks nice right?
Low income and drifting are not two words that get along. Sure, the car is "just" sliding, but it puts a REAL beating on the car. A lot of times, drift cars overheat because they are full throttle at low speeds, the intercooler and radiator dont get good airflow.. causing pre-mature engine failures. You need a LOT of money to do maintainence on a drift car, your engine must be at 100% or you will blow it!
@6feetunder29 not exactly true. a ka24e/de can be supercharged for as little as 6-800 bucks if you can/can get someone to cut and weld a few basic pieces. the most expensive part of it would be bearings/rebuild for a used eaton m62 and an AMS water/meth injection kit. a setup like hat would yield about 200-220 whp, which is about the same as a basic T25 turbo setup
For $2K you can put a low PSI setup on an S13 and make pretty good power. Enough to make the wheels lose traction whenever you hit the throttle. I would advise if you want to run any sort of forced induction, that you build the internals before hand. Stock internals might work for a little while, but the beating drifting puts on them, your better off forged.
To paraphrase = Drifting may be one of the cheaper motor sports, but it is by NO MEANS CHEAP. lol I would know... xD
Get a second job and save. I'm about to start a 2nd FT job on top of college just to get my s13 back on the track where it belongs. Dont ever use money as an excuse. Start visiting junkyards and going to swap meets.
@frosticle808911 greddy turbo kit for a ka24de is about $4k. the adapter plate, piping, belts, pulleys and hardware for a supercharger for the same engine is about $950, with nissan xterra superchargers going for about $500.
@Allmetal93 are even better for going sideways because you get boost over all the rev range, and boost means more torque, which is what'll keep you going sideways. i'm going ka-r when i get the cash, and i'd recommend the same to anyone else with an s-car.
full rally style handbrake setup one can only say its hydrolic... nice entry into turn two (just guessing 2) and link to the hairpin then sounded like it boged down when you spun ...looks good though.
idk y people say e-brake drifting is for beginners thats like saying using ur mirrors to back up your car is for noobs, i dont care how good of a drifter you are i bet you your gana use it in ur runs
hes trying to force the wheel where he wants, instead of flowing with the car. Hes "controlling" the wheel instead of letting it flow...... E-brake drifting is clear sign of a beginner, but nice job otherwise.
d1gp use ebrake to "fix" their drift when they fuck up. pretty much, go in brake drifting, something went wrong, grab the ebrake and fix it. hes still "forcing" his driving when he should let it flow.
bastec666 go watch the drift bible, the ebrake is not to fix their drifts its to initiate the drift and get the car sideways. Theres numerous methods, oversteering and power on, clutch kicking, handbraking.
yes, there are many ways, and the best way is to do inertial drift. the best way to hold it is power over using the throttle to control the car, this new fag uses the e-brake to fix his drift instead of the gas petal. he is terrible and should stop drifting.
have you ever watched the drift bible.. im pretty sure e-braking can be used to "initiate" a drift.. there is many.. and yes e-brake can be used to fix.. but as i said.. it can be used to initate also
yea i live in perth australia where this was filmed (wannerroo raceway) and witnessd alot of its drifting life. a well known import shop (speedworks) built the car and yes it is supercharged and yes it has a dog box but the car only lasted 6months or so and all i know is that something fukd up and no1 could figure out what was wrong with it. since i havnt seen any supercharged sr's or rb's. BUT IT WENT FUKN HARD WHILE IT LASTED
superchargers sound different, i have a straight cute box in my s13, yes there are supercharged sr20's and RB's. but this my friend is straight cut gears, it may have a supercharger in it, but the whining noise is the box.
dude wtf he keeps spinning out and he pulls the ebrake at the entrance everytime like he depended on it...you dont need that shit...you might wanna learn how to drift with a bit less power to learn the right techniques...not just ebrake and power...
well instead of a turbo you get a supercharger....id build turbos are pussy on a motor( by pussy i mean sorter on abuse) supoer chargers are boost right away need tuffer parts
well it says super charged...i have seen super charged 240's and skylines....from the same guy, there is nothing funny.........if you trued to be right in some sort of way
at one stage it was a JUN 2.3L SR but i think in this video it was a 2L SR20 with supercharger, MoTeC M800, Zeal coilovers, dogleg gearbox. 330hp and some 700nm of torque at the rear wheels.
seemed to me he couldn't handle the car, maybe so used turbo an never a supercharger cuz lookin at it, anybody who watched this would agree dude was shittin in his pants when he hit the gas, just one reason he spun out so much, an he had a bunch of other close calls, but the car sounds nice though, that was the only thing i paid atention to, just couldn't help but notice duke strugglin with that car
His driving is pretty good, maybe not professional level but not bad. If you think otherwise you have probably never tried to drift any kind of car (let alone a powerful one with the speeds involved). However why the hell is the handbrake up there and the gear lever down there? In any racing car (including drift cars) your first concern is being able to reach the gear lever easily not the handbrake.
Really, it's drifting? :p doesn't matter, as I said above changing gears is still your primary concern. And anyway why not have the gear lever too up there with the handbrake? Why only the handbrake?
its drifting. you hardly shift mid-drift but the ebrake is essential to quick corrections. you could drift a whole track in just 2nd gear but need quick access to the hand brake. watch the video over n over again. he shifts while he's cruising. but while drifting he rarely shifts.
Really? Don't patronise me, you rarely shift mid corner in racing too, and you could also drift the whole track without ever using the handbrake. That says nothing.
Cockpit rearranging in racing cars has two goals: weight reduction and making the driver's life easier. Having the gear lever down there and trying to reach it (even while cruising) with the handbrake sitting there in the middle doesn't make your life easier at all.
you obviously dont drift. so get over it. seriously. look at multiple peoples cockpits in drift cars. they all follow that exact location for a hand brake. its hydrolic and aint stock location. even rally cars are the same.
its easy to go from hand brake to steering wheel. hand brake to steering wheel. you do not need to be able to go from hand brake, shift, steering wheel at all for any reason. only from shift, steering wheel. or hand brake to steering wheel. with it being that close, there's less movement from steering wheel to hand brake n back again to steering wheel. makes drivers life easier for drifting.
Obviously you can't understand english (or anything) very well. My problem is not the handbrake's position, it's the gear lever's (which is stock). And you definately don't drift (based on your last comment). If the car has even a tiny bit of caster in its steering (which all cars have), you don't have to try to turn the wheel fast, it makes no difference if it's hydraulic. You just let it loose and it turns in the opposite direction by itself. But you already knew that right?
of course i know that. check my videos, i have one of me drifting at a local event. watch him fight the wheel as he counters regardless of caster. powersteering helps you get to full lock faster so u don't spin. you obviously dont drift as you complain about dumb shit thats unnecessary when it comes to drifting. shifter location...
actually even in this vid you can see he lets the wheel turn by itself, are you blind or sth? and if you had ever driven a real car, just driven not drifted, you would know that REGARDLESS of power steering if you let the wheel loose it WILL turn by itself even until full lock in a drift. And maybe even faster than you can turn it on your own.
Stop talking about sth you obviously know nothing about it only makes you look ridiculous. Dumb shit?... Maybe for you, if you can't shift mid drift, you think it's not necessary.
BTW drifting is not just about drifting through a tight cone layout in 2nd gear. Drifting started in the streets, I have never drifted in a track and on the street I can assure you, you have to shift up and down quite frequently during a turn.
You can also try drifting in sth else than a Silvia (if that really is you in your video), like a BMW 316 or sth like that with lots of weight and no power (and no LSD), where power and torque won't do everything for you. There you have to have some technique, think ahead, and -guess what- shift gears during the turn to keep the engine in the power band and keep the drift going.
Because anybody can drift a Silvia, just like anybody can perfect launch a Subaru, look cool in a Ferrari or whatever. That doesn't mean they actually know sth about it. Anyway I'll stop here.
Look at you, you're trying to argue over something fucking retarded. Drivers have preference. If you really raced anything you would know that. You probably drive a mustang. JDM ftw.
handbrake needs to be closer when your working with 500hp or more specifically for drifting....you have to pull it alot (10ormoretimes) TO STABILIZE THE CAR DURING HEAVY BREAKING...THIS MAINTIANS DRIFT ANGLE INTO TIGHT CORNERS OFF OF FAST STRAIGHTS. YOU SHOULD PAY MORE ATTENTION KOSMO177 AND QUIT BEING A POSER EXPERT.. THANKYOU
That has silly power. Love it. You have to take your hat off to james. It real had to drift a car with no power steering unless it was never ment to have power steering like a ae86.
Not bashing this guy. But all he really has is a powerfull as shit car. He has very little skill. He would probly be better off learning to drift in a NA ka or a stock sr20.
at 0:38 he is like seatbelt check now time to thrash :)

you obviously dont drift. so get over it. seriously. look at multiple peoples cockpits in drift cars. they all follow that exact location for a hand brake. its hydrolic and aint stock location. even rally cars are the same.

its easy to go from hand brake to steering wheel. hand brake to steering wheel. you do not need to be able to go from hand brake, shift, steering wheel at all for any reason. only from shift, steering wheel. or hand brake to steering wheel. with it being that close, there's less movement from steering wheel to hand brake n back again to steering wheel. makes drivers life easier for drifting.
turboda6 4 years ago
by the way. that driver needs to invest in some power steering. thats why his retarded self keeps spinning out. to slow countersteer reaction.
turboda6 4 years ago
Obviously you can't understand english (or anything) very well. My problem is not the handbrake's position, it's the gear lever's (which is stock). And you definately don't drift (based on your last comment). If the car has even a tiny bit of caster in its steering (which all cars have), you don't have to try to turn the wheel fast, it makes no difference if it's hydraulic. You just let it loose and it turns in the opposite direction by itself. But you already knew that right?
kosmo177 4 years ago
of course i know that. check my videos, i have one of me drifting at a local event. watch him fight the wheel as he counters regardless of caster. powersteering helps you get to full lock faster so u don't spin. you obviously dont drift as you complain about dumb shit thats unnecessary when it comes to drifting. shifter location...
turboda6 4 years ago
actually even in this vid you can see he lets the wheel turn by itself, are you blind or sth? and if you had ever driven a real car, just driven not drifted, you would know that REGARDLESS of power steering if you let the wheel loose it WILL turn by itself even until full lock in a drift. And maybe even faster than you can turn it on your own.
kosmo177 4 years ago
Stop talking about sth you obviously know nothing about it only makes you look ridiculous. Dumb shit?... Maybe for you, if you can't shift mid drift, you think it's not necessary.
kosmo177 4 years ago
BTW drifting is not just about drifting through a tight cone layout in 2nd gear. Drifting started in the streets, I have never drifted in a track and on the street I can assure you, you have to shift up and down quite frequently during a turn.
kosmo177 4 years ago
You can also try drifting in sth else than a Silvia (if that really is you in your video), like a BMW 316 or sth like that with lots of weight and no power (and no LSD), where power and torque won't do everything for you. There you have to have some technique, think ahead, and -guess what- shift gears during the turn to keep the engine in the power band and keep the drift going.
kosmo177 4 years ago
ur dumb. why would i try drifting without an lsd, or n someone elses car jus so you can try to show me about shifting.
sddrift dot com if u wanna argue some more.
turboda6 4 years ago
Because anybody can drift a Silvia, just like anybody can perfect launch a Subaru, look cool in a Ferrari or whatever. That doesn't mean they actually know sth about it. Anyway I'll stop here.
kosmo177 4 years ago
" Because anybody can drift a Silvia" maybe anyone could power over but keep a consistent smooth and good looking drift ..? nahh

THANKYOU
30NAKERS 4 years ago
lol... when you drive a real car (not need for speed) come and post again. and stop the caps you dont sound more serious with them.
kosmo177 4 years ago
stabilise the car with the handbrake!??!?!? do you have any idea how ridiculous that is? have you even SEEN a real car before??

what a shit driver

if so its a DE worked off its tits

That has silly power. Love it. You have to take your hat off to james. It real had to drift a car with no power steering unless it was never ment to have power steering like a ae86.
Adz32 5 years ago
Not bashing this guy. But all he really has is a powerfull as shit car. He has very little skill. He would probly be better off learning to drift in a NA ka or a stock sr20.

You have no idea who or what you are talking about

Sounds compond charged to me. High in the rev range there's a lot of blowing and not much whining! Awesome.
