  • THE BOYZZ WERE THE BEST BACK IN THE DAY! TON OF ENERGY ALL NIGHT!!!

  • Wow, what a great time it was to watch these guys. I remember going to a party on Green Road in Batavia that theys guys played at. I remember lots of police at the end!

  • This is my Cuzzy (cousin) Danny Buyck. This is the first time I got to see & hear him play!

  • We used too ride our choppers to a bar called WAVERLY BEACH in Beloit WI. Drank Jack and smoked weed with Dirty Dan and Gill T. Those days will never come back but i'm glad I was there. The music, the girls, the Mary Jane, the way life was supposed to be..

  • The Boyzz were the SHIT. Their albom production didnt come close to capturing their energy live. Rockin at its finest.

  • I roadied for a band during this period that opened for The Boyzz a few times. The band would just about shit themselves having to go on before these guys......

  • one word aurora,il. the likley story remember the good old days!

  • I had the priviledge of having The Boyzz play in my backyard!!! F'in love these guys!!! Still have their 8-track....

  • @coopscool1982 I saw your Dad play a lot with the Boyzz and then got to know and hang out with him when he was with Deluxury. He was a VERY cool cat! Would like to touch base with him again someday is he still living in the St Charels area?

  • my friend said..I don't see what the big deal with The Boyzz was...watch this and have a big bowl of shut the fuck up

  • well put.

  • @troytison63 could not have said it better

  • They should have stuck together, most ignorant thing they could have done was break up.

  • @TheFireWithin2779 That's just dumb! The band broke up because we weren't any good any more for each other. The band grew apart and it =was no good for the artist's.

    Mike

  • @TafoyasLostBoyzz What the hell are you talking about?

  • "Destined To Die" is one of the greatest rock anthems ever written, and The Boyzz were the baddest ass live band ever to walk the planet. I was blessed to have been there, to have experienced the raw unleashed magnificence of this classic band. To see them destroy the local bars around Chicago in the 70's was memorable to say the least. There was never a band that could touch them and probably hasen't been since.

  • I couldn't have said it better myself. I too was there. High-decibel insane energy!

  • @peteberwick

    have to agree

can't believe it took me this long to hunt them down on youtube, but i use'd to see these guys all the time

at haymakers, thisty whale and in twin lakes wis

    some kick ass chicago rock

  • Awesome.....my youth :-)

  • Anyone remember Black Cat? They used to open a bunch of shows. Great cover band.

  • @daddypez

I so remember Black Cat. Also, Sluggo and Hurricane.

Some of the best bar bands ever.Great as they were. no one could touch The Boyzz!

  • Yeh, I remember ole Gil Piney from School (west aurora high), I also remember Tafoya on Dick Clarks american bandstand with his spin off band The BZZZZZ's

  • if any of the band members watch this. my dad is from illinois. some of u guys used to hang out at his house back then. his name is Scott King. U used to hang with his brother Tad King.

  • @thekiiing630 I will have to ask my dad if he remembers anyone by that name...He was the drummer.

  • Great Stuff!! Back in the day I got the album and loved it...

  • My husband saw these guys at least a dozen times. Too bad that was before I met him! Thanks for posting!!

  • p.s.......

yeah, mark bales IS one of a kind.

anyone know what he's up to nowadays?

haven't seen him since he bought the scooter. hope he's o.k.

  • anyone notice the guy introducing the band? i believe thats meatloaf.

  • Yep, thats Meatloaf. And lets face it, he looks like he's flying higher than a kite. Any recollections Mr. Tafoya?

  • @mesastorm Yes, He was

  • @mesastorm Yes, He was. He took ours.

  • Didn't Cooper live on the corner of 3rd and Horne in St. Charles?

  • Key in: Tafoyas Lost Boyzz (on this website) and write your request. Mike

Tafoya knows who is where. The Boyzz

    rocked in their day-loved it!

  • @djh508 You have to let me know who you are....Kent Cooper is my dad. That would be awsome to have you guys meet up again.

  • @coopscool1982 My name is donovan, ASk youre dad if he remembers lynn and lance elam.if he does we can swap .emails . my mom would probably giggle like a schoolgirl to chat with youre dad..alot of good times back then.get back with me,,,

  • @djh508 I knew Lance romance

  • the singer sounds like he's dyin, but he looks in good shape here.

  • Whatever happened to Anatoli Halinkovitch???? (from Dickidee DooDah)

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he streamlined his name to Tony Hall, and he does the music the for Fox-Tv program "Cops". Pretty sweet gig, I'm sure.

  • my dad knew these guys personally. (styx, too!!)

  • Jerri passed away last year and i have talked to Terri recently.

  • hi mike.

glad you're still around! i worked for tafoya/angel on the lighting for a few gigs (malo's, the uprising in dekalb, etc.). don't know if you remember me-names brad- but you know i was always a big boyzz fan as well as this being my fave song! if you remember, i always asked you to play the guitar break from "dtd" during soundchecks, haha. hope everyone is good & healthy. hope to see you around sometime. brad

  • This song is called Destined To Die

  • nice firebird mike.... looks nice on ya

  • Its too bad this band broke up. Should have gone on to be one of the best rock bands in history. If they would have toured , and released a second album, the would have been headlining arenas.

Dirty Dan's solo band does the original lineup no justice. Mike Tafoya's band is pretty damn good I must say. But I wish the Boyzz would get back together for a reunion :)

  • I agree with you. I spent many a Boyzz gig right up front. Those gigs are cemented in my memories for the rest of my life. There will never be another band like them. Nothing like their brand of rock at 120 decibels.

  • Saw their final show at Beginnings in Schaumburg during the summer of 1980. The Boyzz could bring it!

  • Any of you guys remember "the headhunters"? The girls, not the band...LOL

  • From?

  • Headhunters= groupies with one specialty who hung around, Fatty's, Malo's etc. I can't remember their names but they (2) were blond and hot!

  • Sorry, i wish i could help. I mean it I'm sorry.LOL

    MT

  • I don't remember the headhunters, but do you remember Swiss Tyme? 3 Hot blond musician sisters who rocked the Fox Valley? Feeling a twitch in my trousers just thinking about them.

  • WOW brings back many memories.....

  • Mike,I never saw this. Are there more? That KICKED ASS!! You guys were at the top of your game.I got the copy of the 2nd half of the B'ZZ on American Bandstand.I just saw Tommy & he said he has the whole thing.Eddie Dimitri (Deemie)Why?

  • Ive posted 2 more vids from that show.

  • AWESOME! Thanks Mesa

  • Hey, nickeychevy60 would you like a copy of this dvd

  • Yea.I'm a good friend of Mike's.I have to ask him if he has it.What do you need for it?

  • I know you! I think??

    M.T.

  • Wow like going back in time !!,Too all my old front row friends I miss you we did rock the joint when our Boyzz played huh...Chicago Mike Sansone

  • Amen Mike! I'm a transplanted Chicagoan in San Diego, CA. Saw them at a dive bar/pit(!)

called "The Opposition Bar" (lower leve of the Aurora Hotel. Prob. both long demo'd. by now. ANYONE EVER GO THERE IF YOU READ THIS?

Great upload-miss our Boyzz from Illinoiz!

    Best,

    W

  • The Building is still there. Reminds me of Dan davis and Dane Nations, good times. That was 1975. MMmmmm.......

    M.T.

  • flashback time! i saw them at the Mug in Aurora more then once, Best bar band ever, now That joint(the Mug) mysteriously burned down--HA!

  • You're right on about the bar. I wondered about that also. I was in the B'zz and we heard sbout it from L.A. and wondered???? Mmmmm....

  • The Opposition,

What a place for a Boyzz show. What about Fatty's Malo's and The Likely Story. I remember partying with Tafoya behind the Likely Story, he and Gil are some good guys. To bad things ended the way they did.

I have this whole DVD thanks to M.T.

  • The Boyzz, Destined to Die! This is such a classic video of them at their very best! I love this!!!

  • Tafoya is a diamond in the roff when it comes to guitar players. So many people should watch this video to witness the rock god Tafoya is!! Just look at how cool and confident Tafoya is, up on that stage. What an amazing guitarist. People take notice of this guitar god, for he is the rockstar that many people should get to know!

  • That was Mark Bales. What a cool dude!! I felt no disrespect. We're ( Dave and I ) just would like to set the record straight that Dirt's project is and never was the Boyzz and though I wish them all well this should be known! LOL That evening at (Midnight) was Gilly's 22nd birthday and he and I missed the bus (tour bus that is) back to the hotel and Cleveland was a place not to be stuck in the dark. If you know what I mean. Mmm..

    Mike Tafoya

  • I hear ya on that! THis is the original Boyzz, hence why I said it was the shit! This is the real orginal lineup. Kick ass!! Thank you for posting these great memories. I wish that this lineup was still together. Mr. Tafoya, you are great in this video, you are the guitar player wizard!

  • That's Not DIRTY DAN AND THE BOYZZ!!!

IT'S THE BOYZZ The REAL DEAL from 1978.He's (Dirt)the singer of the Boyzz!! Simple as THAT!! We wrote that in 1976 and the lyrics came after.

  • I was trying to put a title up that would move it to the first page of videos when one typed in "The Boyzz". Believe me, I meant NO disrespect. And yes, Tafoya was DANGEROUS in those days. Still remember the guy who would throw picks to him, and he would catch them and not miss a beat. Truly a PHENOM!!

  • Mark Bales threw the picks from the side.

    M.T.

  • When I first saw that, at the Likely Story, it just blew me away. I'm a big fan of power chords. Stll am after 40 years of playing. You guys were the epitome of power. It's been a while, and even though I was always herbally polluted, I still remember all of the shows.

  • Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I'm working for Gibson at the Blues Fest in Chicago at the Crossroads Stage.

  • Now that is the shit!
