@whoknows2007 I disagree. I don't really understand why it has to be this "either or" sort of argument. David left, of his own choice. He was great, but so is Matt. And, if you want me to be completely honest, the way that Matt portrays the Doctor is less intense because the character, the overriding personality of the Doctor since the show started 50 years ago, is not as intense as David was in the role. Matt's portrayal is more true to the Doctor. David's was moving, but not really accurate.

@whoknows2007 I don't think Chris' portrayal was quite as emotional as David's but that is neither here nor there. The thing is that I don't think that the Doctor seeming less depressed comes from Matt Smith being supposedly "unable" to portray that kind of depth of emotion. I think Moffat's been making the Doctor happier on purpose. Where was that anger and pain going to lead? Was he just going to get progressively more bitter? That's not in the spirit of Doctor Who at all. I'm glad it's gone.

I just personally think Matt Smith is David Tennant's equal in terms of acting ability. I may be a little bit biased, though, because I am quite fond of Classic Who and it feels more like Classic Who with Matt. :) But, to each their own! If you liked Tennant's Doctor better, that just means more Matt Smith for me! And more David Tennant for you!! :DDD Everyone wins!

@ashoftomorrow i think that you're right, and it makes sense because the doctor, by his very nature, is a being of chaos and long life - although he has very human feelings, he isn't human, and his companions will bear the fallout of being with him without the advantages of his alien-ness. his life is going to be full of pain, adventure, madness, and loss - the only thing that can be changed is how he approaches it. so why not smile when he can? it's one of the few defenses he has left.

no, she traveled back in time with Rose's machine at UNIT or whatever and dived in front of a truck to make her turn left. This canceled out the action that the Tiem Beetle did and she came back to the normal universe where the Doctor found her.

When she gets ran over then she comes back in the real world because she made herself turn left, but then at the very end when she's half Timelord then the Doctor has to erase her memories of him or she'll burn up, so in a way she died, as in that part of her. If she remembers she die. That made me cry :'(

It sort of annoys me that if you look at all the sighitngs of rose/davros and donna's ring that the bbc hasn't explained all this fully in the episodes.. They've left the whole entire UK to figure it out for themselves. Like in Journeys end they could have had Rose say " I contaxted you " and then like have a fast flashback of all the times " and maybe davros doing the same. And also RIGHT ! Yeah, frankly, the writing was sloppy in the finale. But the ring didn't need explaining then. That will be focused on in one of next year's specials, as Simm is definitely returning in one of them! ... So is Tate, if anyone's interested :D
