The TAR or Tibet Autonomous Region is NOT the size of the entire Tibet. REAL Tibet is actually bigger than that. More than half of Qinghai is TIBET, and parts of Yunnan, Gansu and Sichuan are also collectively TIBET, the COUNTRY BEFORE 1950.

Nobody is asking for independence. All tibet wants is Autonomy (Self Rule), human rights. The CCP dosent give them that...Most of the tibetans in Tibet are poor and dying of starvation....I am a tibetan...i dont blame the chinese people...infact many of my friends are chinese....but the world needs to pressurize the CCP to sit down with His Hollinesses representatives and discuss this matter further. as for what you said about the cheap goods, they are everywhere, not just the stuff in walmart, kmart. They are the clothes you wear, the electronics you use, parts from your car, you simply can't ignore the huge economic market that has been created by china. Nationalism is inherently illogical. Nationalism is about cultural identity of who belongs and who doesn't belong. The hundreds of years of cultural and historical connection b/w Chinese and Tibetan society is undeniable. So, therefore, who should be the arbiter on whose nationalism is the correct one? The Chinese one where Tibet is part of China or the Tibetan one where Tibet is not part of China? When it comes to nationalism, there's no rationality, just emotion and blood.

The Dalai Lama did acknowledge that Tibet belongs to China.He just wants Tibet to be like the TAR is supposed to be according to the 17 point treaty.Kind of like Hong Kong.He has stopped calling for complete independence for many years now.All he wants is freedom,basic human and religious rights while letting the CPC have the final say in all matters.That is a very fair deal if only the CPC had the guts to face the Dali Lama.They refuse any dialog and even condemn other nations hosting him.

The TAR or Tibet Autonomous Region is NOT the size of the entire Tibet. REAL Tibet is actually bigger than that. More than half of Qinghai is TIBET, and parts of Yunnan, Gansu and Sichuan are also collectively TIBET, the COUNTRY BEFORE 1950.
