Palestinians aren't a nation, so can't break any UN resolutions. Hair splitting perhaps. But is so. The UN does not actually recognise Israel as a nation-state because the UN did not sanction what it is that is Israel. Israel is safe enough. A misconception is the nation-state cannot exist without the UN, but actually, the UN cannot exist without nation-states. This is analogous to the notion that rights only exist when granted by government, instead of, government exists to secure rights: The right to life & property. A recent problem is Kosovo which should have had Kosovo integrated into Albania & not create a cynical 2-state outcome, as will occur if Palestinians are not integrated into Jordan & Egypt.

I didn't suggest/justify any ethnic cleansing, but did say: the land, which is now Israel, was owned by no one after the Ottoman empire and the withdrawal of the British. This is because there was no State to secure property rights. Thus whomever was displaced at the time of Israel's founding, would have been displaced by regional others, whenever the desire took them to do so, as was frequently the case, prior to Sykes-Picot.

The status quo which you allude to is entirely counter to western values, so for me to comply with the thinking behind it would be suicidal. To conclude this line of argument: If the PALs had sufficient concord amongst themselves in Gaza & the West Bank, they could, as Israel has done, call it & establish a Palestinian state without recourse to the UN or international law. Israel IS an occupier. It was also recognised by the UN in 1948. The only reason it does not adhere to UN resolutions is because it feel as though it does not have to. Also, whenever it's adherence to UN resolutions is brought up, the cries of anti-semitism begin. That is such a poor excuse that even a huge portion of Israelis cringe when it is used. It is doing nothing more than minimalizine the Holocost and proving that the legitamacy of Isreal SHOULD be questioned.

Yes the Hamas Charter does little to inspire peace. But what about the PLO charter which carries with it the support of the Oslo Peace Accords. Fatah stands for a 2 state solution but rejects continued military occupation. Their resistance is to occupation not to the state of Israel.
