@PEZBLINDFURY If I remember correctly, when I made this, I had it capped at 30 or 60 fps so as to avoid a monstrous file size. Just set the fps limit within fraps. When you convert it, it will set the new file at either 24 or 30fps anyways.

I was about to buy a computer with an i7 930 processor and an ATI Radeon HD 5850 graphics card until I started seeing these amd processor based computers and they seem to be running at higher fps with lower graphics cards. They also are a lot cheaper than intel based computers. Should I go with an amd and ati computer?

Wait til you see my 5850 vids I'm gonna post here soon. Stock core/memory speeds are 725/850. Mine is set at 950/1100 with no increase in heat!!! I have the Asus brand which came with an unlocked voltage core, so I just upped it to 1.25v. I have a 45% increase over stock 5850's. It scored just over 17,000 gpu score in Vantage which is insane!!! It's the best bet card of their whole line, a real gem. But then again, all of the 5800 cards are monsters, so you can't go wrong.

honestly, use DX 9 instead, if you look online you can use very high settings on DX 9 by changing some entries in the directory, all with notepad and really easy. DX 9 looks NO different, in Crysis at least, and will give you around 5 to even 10 extra fps

4870 is equivalent to 260 4890 is equivalent to 275 that has all the difference thats why your getting lower fps

I have no mod going on this. the resolution is1680x1050. I personally think it's a combination of the northbride speed and amount of ram. I had an AMD tech tell me he thinks I have like a zero flaw system. Had another guy build my exact spec system, and is getting similar results. That Corsair 750w was made for this system. No instability at all. Let me know if you want contact the guy, he'd be happy to share info.

I agree completely. They just released the 965, but it's 140w (wow). the 955 dropped too 200 bucks, which an insane price for a chip of this caliber. AMD is on the ball with this new line of chips. If they are making a profit at those prices, Intel is really raping people.

Nice rig. I'm getting almost the same setup... allthough I'm still not sure about my GFX, considering the XFX HD 4890 XT, but how loud is it in load? Cause I'm consindering the Sapphire VAPOR-X HD 4890 870 / 1005 / don't no the shaders, but that's still 3Ghz lower in video clock speed... I have my fan set at 40%. Never have to put it higher and It's near silent. I also popped of the heatsink and put arctic silver 5 on it which was real good for it.

Deffinately, just a side note. check for price one supported memory in either 1333 or 1600. Prices are dropping big time. Also make sure the one thing you dont cut a corner on is your powersupply. That is the one most people cheap out one then wonder why stuff is wonky.

Yeah, I know. I think the 8 gig of ram helps allot. I like to call Crysis the "Bottleneck Bandit" so when I ran those first two tests, which are all cpu/physics intensive, I about crapped!!! I couldn't even start those tests on my old system. I'm real proud of how smooth this sucker is running.

I also think that AMD works better with ATI cards imo. So far i've seen better results with your system vs people with intel i7 920 or 940. Plus your using a single card doing about 30-50fps on max settings.
