There you go,as eventually you will use it more, you will encounter more issues, when i use have it on my desktop,it was giving really big problems,
I did find uh900 with windows 7,i got annoyed there is no vista option or xp and is very expensive, the uh900 is a beast of specs in a tiny system,it's even smaller u820 and the battery doesn't stick out, which makes u820 bit ugly and bit big.
I'm not talking about wifi modem,i'm on about broadband modem even with new win7 drivers it crashes when shutting down the computer comes with blue screen, enough people are getting this error,no one has ever got it to work because win7 is badly made, these problems don't happen with xp or vista.
I did try deus ex it does have minor graphics problem.
About the uh900,it's not available on ebay,it is very expensive to buy,uh900 is better design and has amazing specs compare to u820.
@sukhi2000 I've found my first major incompatibility issue with Windows 7. Apparently it doesn't support Opengl. This could have me seriously rethinking having it on my laptop.
There is no difference between vista or windows 7,the only difference is vista has better compatibility for pc games, emulation, peripherals such as printers and scanners, speedtouch 330 modem does not work, this isn't 3d modem,it's an home broadband internet.
Yes it good only for u820 notebook but for desktops and laptops not recommened,it's totally crap, only xp and vista is good for them.
I own win 7 32-bit and 64-bit they both are rubbish.
Xp was good, vista not very good,win7 totally awful.
All of three windows os have different files they are not the same, compatibility mode doesn't work on all programs and games,if a xp program or game doesn't work with compatibility mode with vista or win7,it will never either os,just makes vista and win7 crap os,then what do you go back to xp making vista or win7 total losers as an os.
The video drvers are just performance and to iron out bugs that's all they do,it won't do anything else.
@sukhi2000 I'm afraid experiance has told me that at least comparing Windows 7 to Vista Home Premium, that Windows 7 is working much better. And as I've stated, I only own a copy of Vista Home Premium, so it's all I can compare it to.
And so far, my U820 is working much better since I put Windows 7 Professional on it. I'm able to use more of the resources. At this point, it's actually a fine media machine and good for social networking.
I plan to try out some more games as soon as I can.
W!in7 drivers are never great progression, they always perform the same, trust me on this,win7 os is worse from the three.
I tell you one thing xp,vista,win7 none of them perfect, why is that because Microsoft has never made perfect program in his life, normal programs made by him are never perfect no wonder the os aren't perfect, the mac os are perfect but doesn't support windows and windows is more recognized than mac os,it will be better os should be made by a new person.
@sukhi2000 At the risk of making this a Mac Vs PC debate, my time with macs has shown me the Mac OS is not perfect. It crashes as often as Windows. I had to use them for my Adobe class and my 3D animation class. I found both times, the PC versions ran much better.
As for Windows 7, I'm really not having any major issues yet.
Intel releases video drivers 4 to 6 months,so you will have to wait a long time, deus ex was it giving the same problem in vista.
The best gma500 drivers are for vista,xp and win7 you can forget about them having good video drivers, everytime new video drivers released for vista it always shows progression from the last.
For one thing u820 doesn't have the right hardware the 1.6ghz processor fine but 1gb ram is low,it suppose to be 2gb for vista..
@sukhi2000 I still have hope, since the GMA 500 is in so many netbooks and other mobile devices that they would make an effort to improve the drivers. It is in their own best interest.
@sukhi2000 I did a little digging and the drivers have already been updated twice this year. January and March. It's possible they could do another update in May or June, though that is just speculation/wishful thinking on my part.
If you used thomson speedtouch 330 modems you will know how bad win7 really is,it won't install without device manager with update drivers then when you switch of the system it crashes then boot up the system it will give you bsod error screen, which is a blue crash screen, this has never happen with xp,vista works without new drivers,win7 has new driver still no changes,win7 sucks big timer.
I was annoyed when fuitsu made win7 on uh900 because of that i didn't buy it.
@sukhi2000 Seems like a minor enough issue, at least for me, since I'm using an external 4G modem, the Overdrive from Sprint.
I'll know more as I test various programs. I'm tempted to try World of Warcraft next.
If the modem really is your only complaint, I'd really suggest a different brand of 3G modem. Of course, it wouldn't hurt if they'd release new drivers for the video card, to fix the minor corruption I noticed in Deus Ex.
It's not vista business,i'm using it's vista ultimate, the problem with vista business it's slow and doesn't have media center.
Vista ultimate compatibility is good as xp,win7 doesn't come close.
I was really annoyed when sega house of the dead 3 didn't work on win7 but on xp and vista it works,win7 has big issues with programs and games believe me Microsoft hasn't improved compatibility from vista but win7 become awful.
In businesses xp is used more than vista,win7 no one bothers.
@sukhi2000 I don't have access to either XP Business or Vista Ultimate, so I can't really compare. I can only go off of what I've experienced and so far I'm rating 7 Professional as a better OS then Vista Home Premium. It is of course way to early to really say that, but it's shaping up pretty nice.
Also, keep in mind, Win 7 is new still and in theory, should only get better with time.
Yes these basic features work, but webcam, modem not connecting is bad that happens with win7,i'm afraid win7 is not very good fo me loosing functinality is not very good thing, playing videos in full screen won't amaze me,it gets worser the compatibility is worser than vista,i have never liked win7 over vista because most games and peripherals don't work with win7,these don't happen with vista at all,for me win7 is most awful os made by Microsoft, what an idiot.
Don't believe i8n windows 7,it made some of my games and perpherials not compatible plus my modem was not conecting at all,it's worser than vista.
Once you receive win7 try it out forself, the first trouble you will encoujnter that you boot up the system the cursor won't move and you will boot it second time to make it work.
@sukhi2000 I've got Windows 7 Professional running on the U820 and so far I've had mostly good luck. Everything is working properly (touch screen, screen rotation, wifi, etc). I had no trouble on the first boot up and all the continuing boot ups.
Youtube videos and Windows Media play in full screen without any problems so far.
Only oddity is in Deus Ex, where I've found some graphic corruption.
So far, Windows 7 is much better then Vista Home Premium.
;Ok home.premium is no good, that won't show any performance, vista business is better, that's why you can't see the difference, service pack 2 does more justice on vista business and it has great features for games but the downfall is no media center.
I doubt fujitsu will ever comeback to xp,even uh900 comes with windows 7 only option.how disapponting.
The u820 does have top features like webcam, gps, keyboard light, hspa, buying these seperately will cost more than this note book.
@sukhi2000 I wasn't aware of a hspa inside the U820.
I don't have access to any copies of Vista Business edition. I will however be getting a free copy of Windows 7 in the mail soon, so I'll give it a shot simply to see how it runs for myself and to make a video on.
It's not only the webcam on win7,when you boot up the system the cursor freezes then you have close the system and the boot the system second time, this is very annoying.
Vista business service pack 1 which comes with the system is crap, which has bugs, loads of crashes, slowdown occurs using programs/shutting down/booting,this problem will all go away by urgrading to service pack 2 and watch the performance of vista business better than xp and win7.
@sukhi2000 Mine came with Home Premium. I still find it takes up too much of the system's resources and kills a lot of the functionality. It's been fully updated as well. I stand by what I said. They should've targeted the production of this system around XP.
of course not,xp has flickering that's failed then we have win7 which exactly the same except games comes in full screen without settings,i understand computers very well, because i'm studying comptia A+,so vista is excellent choice for u820 plus xp has poor video driver that's why it flickers,win7 doesn't have good webcam driver so the webcam doesn't work, vista drivers are all perfect all the features work perfectly, how can you say vista isn't right, get your points right, think before writing.
@sukhi2000 I did think and I'm full aware of how much of the system it takes to actually run Vista vs XP. If not for the drivers set not being complete, I'd definately go with XP. This machine could've easily been a pretty nice one , if only the system resources weren't being drained away.
If the webcam drivers are your only problem with Windows 7, then I'm sure I'll be ok with it as I really don't need the webcam on this device as muh as I need full screen video and gaming.
Actually i didn't want to buy u820,i only bought it had good specs and the it was cheap system,i really wanted to buy uh900 but it is really expensive and the only drivers are available is windows 7,oh gosh win7 isn't even good.
What is Fujitsu playing about first is u820 with vista business with very slow performance now uh900 with win7 same performance and worser compatibility,xp is better than both.
If only uh900 will have xp drivers one day,the uh900 has incredible specs.
I installed windows 7 ultimate the only improvements is that all games can be played in full screen, but the speed remains the same in all games and some programs and games not compatible,it's worser than windows vista.
I will try windows xp how it performs u820.
XP has the best performance and compatibility than win7 and vista,if xp doesn't perform well than it means gma 500 is crap, all the speed issues are occuring because of that,xp is the final hope.
@sukhi2000 BTW, under Vista, go to the GMA control program, then select the aspect ratio and you can set the programs to run in full screen there. The down side is you gotta redo that every time.
@sukhi2000 When I tried using XP, I found a lot of the functionality was gone. I couldn't get the touch screen to work and for some reason, the mouse drivers cause the mouse to reverse directions. I also had trouble running WoW and FFXI. They had graphical glitches under XP.
On the flip side, I noticed XP did better with full screen video and some games.
Personally I'm looking forward to trying Windows 7 on it.
@sukhi2000 I don't know anything about fuses. I didn't pass my electrical course I tried to take back in High School. Granted I was being picked on back then and wasn't able to concentrate, but I haven't had the motivation to go and retake it now that I'm an adult.
You can have any external dvd drives, they quite cheap, mostly i will go for samsung ones they are better.
Which games do you have from my list.
Did you know the games you have on cd,they can without cd,you will have to install them into u820 hard drive first then you will have to do other things in order them to work without cd.
Sonic adventure dx doesn't work without cd,but there's a way of doing it.
I can't wait to play sonic adventure on it,i've just biddded for u820.
If you downloaded video driver from fujitsu site ,it' an old version the version is 6.14.10 and the newer version is 6.14.11,so i will download the latest driver to see any improvements.
@sukhi2000 Thanks for the heads up. I've had some strange graphical glitches under games like Final Fantasy 11 and World of Warcraft. I'll try finding those newer drivers.
The reason for deus ex running better is not because direct X only, the gma 500 has better drivers for xp,the vista and win 7 drivers aren't good as xp,intel releasing new updated drivers for xp the gma 500 has improved since December 2009 and intel releasing drivers every 4 months so it's best to update the drivers to see any progression.
I have friend who has the same system,he's tried few 3d games such as sonic adventure dx runs vwery well, crazy taxi runs good, halo good, soul reaver 2 very good, chaos legion runs like a dream.
These games are all in 3d and they did good job, plus few emulators such as mega cd,cps3,mame,jaguar,3do,ds,n64 were all very good but didn't try saturn, dreamcast, overall the u820 isn't bad at all,you haven't been checking sega, capcom, konami games some of them do work perfectly well.
@sukhi2000 Right now the most limiting factor is my lack of external DVD drive. I have a few of those games too, so if I can find a cheap way to install them, I would.
@sukhi2000 Since putting XP on this device, I've gotten Deus Ex running decently enough.which uses Direct 3D. I'm planning on trying WoW today along with a handful of other titles. After that, I'll make a video reporting my findings and present them here.
Also, should my copy of Windows 7 ever arrive, I'll do the same set of test on it as well.
At first glance, the U820 does appear to be better. That is until you realize the wibrain has a 3D processor. The U820 has an intel graphics processor, but so far it seems to be the main thing holding the system back. In my opinion, it's the one thing holding this back from being a great portable gaming machine.
It came preinstalled with Windows Vista, a big mistake if you ask me, so I've been trying to get XP home edition to work on it, but so far, it's been a give and take situation.

The u820 comes with cd which has drivers, utilities for xp and vista, using that cd will be great advantage.

Hopefully next month I'll have some extra money.

The gma 500 doesn't support 3d graphics.
Is it made for only 2d not 3d,please make this clear.
I was thinking buying u820,most of them have gma 500 nowadays.

I had wibrain which played most 3d games without any problem, the u820 has better specs this should play even more games wibrain.
You should try and play games like crazy taxi 3,sonic riders, devil may cry,if these games work the u820 is good for games.
