  • Iron Gym made me fat

  • iron gym

  • how far out does your door trim have to be? cause mine is pretty small and idk if itll fitt?

  • hey dude i bought one, but my problem is that my door frame is too thick so what should i do.. please reply ASAP.. thnx

  • Im 14 I curl and lift weights should i stick to that or should i get this to? I also use the resistance ban.

  • @unfriendly702 Pull ups are definitely a good way to go. Personally I rarely lift weights, and if I do, I keep it light. Generally no more than 60 lbs. It depends on what your objective is. I prefer to maintain a small size, so I train for endurance. i.e. I'll do 100 curls at 20 lbs as opposed to 20 reps at 80 lbs for example. Depends on your goal, but pull ups are a great addition to any program.

  • @unfriendly702 Im 16 next week mate, and ive been doing weights since i was you're age, im 6/1 and it hasent affected me in height what so ever! im currently benching 100 and jogging half marathons. Most lads our age just smash the weights out, but its important to be healthy all round. Hope it goes well.

  • How wide is your door frame cause im not sure if mine is wide enough

  • Im seriously thinking of getting one of these but my dad thinks it will pull the top of the door frame off. Our door frames arent really sturdy, but can support some weight. Can you please tell me how much stress it puts on the top of the door frame when your using it? Thanks

    Adam

  • @adamlax27 I've had it up for over a year now, and I've not noticed any damage at all. Of course, there is always the possibility of some occurring, it just depends on how solid the build quality of your door trim is.

  • @adamlax27 you could allways hammer a few nails into it for support then paint the nails the same colour as your door frame..

  • @justino307 he means to reverse your hands so that your palms are facing towards you

  • Is there a probability that this bar break out my door's frame?

I have a door with wood frame around the wall...

  • only if mexicans built your door

  • i just ordered one of these, it better fit on my door!

  • it doesent fit on my door

  • wow you dont seems very strong , but that was quite impressive

  • good demonstration, i'll probably go get one now. if it's not too much trouble, what song was that you had playing in the background?

  • tony horton says they are ok im going to trust him

  • is there a recommended minimal length of trim required? I live in apartment and the trim around my doors is only 1.5 inches. Also how long is this thing. My doorways are very close to the walls as well.

  • its adjustable. Trim is usually all about the same.

This thing is based on phsyics. When your weight is on it most of the load is actually on the sides of the wall not downward onto the trim.

  • you are doing pull ups wrong lol. with that grip your hands should be upside down from the way they are

  • Upside down? I'm afraid you're going to need to clarify that statement.

  • you are using a pull up grip with a chin up width. you should be grabbing the bar wider, as in outside the two vertical curving bars. it looks like youd need to adjust the pads for that. with the grip you have though you should be grabbing the bar underhand. that is called a chin up

  • its not wrong its just close grip so its workin his tricpers a little more than his back. Its not wrong, just a variation.

  • it doesnt work the triceps at all.... not even a little. it's not just a variation it's wrong. the grip he is using is bad for multiple joints. when doing a grip that narrow you should be using some form of neutral grip or chin up grip

  • you are doing pull ups right dont worry

jake! you mean chin ups with underhand grip

in the video he demonstrates close grip pull ups

  • well the pull ups he is doing are not recommended and bad for joints

  • @justino307

Ehh your position is wrong on the grip bar, the middle grip is for chin ups, the farthest grip is for pull ups. The pull ups your hand if facing away from your face, chin up is when your hand is facing your face. Hope that makes sense.

  • @jakejumpover you can hold it either way, he's doing a pull up and the way your saying is a chin up.

  • yes and he should be holding it wider out. holding it in with a pull up grip that close in can cause joint problems over time.

i dont know why people keep disagreeing with me i know what im talking about

  • oh okaay im sorry, i wasnt aware that it would cause joint problems, thanks cause now i know too haha.

  • @jakejumpover

You are referring to chin ups.

Chin ups = hands facing towards you.

Pull ups = Hands facing away from you.

  • @KurtKramar what do you call a pull up with hands to the sides then? the 2 bars that sticks out toward the body.

  • @shawnster44 I think its just called neutral grip, I could be mistaken.

  • @jakejumpover he's using the correct hand placement for a close grip pull up, a chin up is when your palms face toward you

  • @jakejumpover there really isn't a wrong grip for pullups, chin ups, or curlups, whatever you like to call them. as long as you use proper form, you're fine. there's at least a dozen different grips you can do.

  • get that prison yard work out going lol...

  • Man, am I out of shape im getting this tomorrow dude

  • what if you dont have trim/moulding?

  • Dude what is a doorway trim or molding.? sorry I'm not an english speaking person and I really want to buy this stuff so I read the Iron Gym product details and it says DOORWAY TRIM OR MOLDING.

  • put the molding there yourself, you can buy some at home depot and after that all you really need are some nails and a hammer.

alternativly you could return the product

  • mad max dont bother replying i saw your videos that explains it, i didnt know who i was dealing with a real live mma fighter

  • Good job! I didn't know you could do that much. Man, am I out of shape.

  • well dune dude thinkin of getin one mesalf

  • does it work good?

  • If done regularly and correctly it will sculpt you pretty good.

  • I like how guys who wiegh 115 say they do 25 pull ups and brag, I wiegh 192 and do 3 sets of 12, when i wieghed 175 I could do 20...so if your light of corse your going to be able to do all of reps

  • not true because I do just as much and I add a 25lbs around my waist.

  • how much do you weigh though?

  • im 17 and can do 35 pullups non-stop and 3 sets of it, but i've been training under my sensai for over 6 years in the shaolin temple

  • *bows before gullyzz*

    You are ze badass!

  • Then That your sensei fuck you in the Shaolin Temple

    HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA

  • im 15 and i can do 23 i think this is a great workout

  • you know what you should do dawg do 10 like you said you can do then later on in the come again and try to do 10 thats what I do and I've been able to increase reps and blah blah so try it out

  • You make um look so easy =)

  • im 16 170 and can do 10 pull ups easy

  • im 14 an di can do 10-13 of these but i weigh 100 pounds. thats light. but if i keep on tdoing pull ups will i still be able to lift myself up when u get heavier?

  • yep he actually does them right

  • You have good form.

  • does anybody elses door frame screech when you use it? im a little worried about mine cuz it always sounds like its goona break it off so i dont do pullups with it

  • yeah it should be fine though. mine does the same

  • KOOOOL!

  • can it break ur trim on door?

  • My 12 year old son bought me one for my birthday at Rite-Aid, and I really like it. He knew I wanted one, so, he had saved up his money and bought me it. We both use it, and it works.

  • thats great he bought you a 30 dollar gift and i bet it made you both feel like it was a million dollar gift

  • Yes it did make it feel like a million dollar gift. My son and I have been using it since March, and it works, and I will cherish it because he bought it for me, and he couldn't wait to give it to me.

  • what song is that? sounds like a really bad MCA copy

  • Holy shit nice pull-ups

  • The great thing about it is that iron bracket thing isnt very necessary. I never use it, and i never have never had a problem with it falling on me or nothin like that.

  • Very true, I didn't use it at first, and I certainly don't take it with me when I travel. As long as someone isn't using ridiculously bad form, I'd be very surprised if it would ever fell off.

  • you're a hottie. :)

  • since there are no drills and nail to install, im afraid it might fall. everytime i use it, i always feel like im gonna fall and hurt myself.

  • lol

  • not bad!

  • what about that bracket thing? do u need that? cause im 120, is it gonna fall on me?

  • I always use it just to be safe. It shouldn't fall if your using proper form. The only way I see it falling is if you suddenly shift your weight forward and up. You should be safe though since its designed to go up to 300lbs.

  • No the bracket isn't even necessary. Think about if you want to travel with your iron gym. Are you really going to install/unistall that bracket everytime you want a work out? The iron gym is great support for your door frame and weight.

  • Installing the bracket is just as easy as setting up the iron gym. all you do is slide it inbetween the wall and the door frame.

  • You don't really need it, it's really for safety reasons. If you feel like the frame is getting weak or something, just switch to another door.

  • i dont have the bracket on mine! hahaha. i didnt know what it was, so i didnt put it on. you dont NEED it, but....i mean ive only had it fall on me once. hahaha. but it still holds fine.

  • im sure this question was probably asked before but this is safe to use in drywall assuming the one using it isnt heavyset because me and my roommates are having some doubts about the strength of the drywall and the last thing we want is to pay/redo new dry wall.

  • Is it better to go all the down like he was doing? I just go down to about a 100 degree angle.

  • Yes he is using propper form, if you're not going down like him you're not doing it right like 4/5 of the people who do pull ups.

  • isnt the middle supposed to be for pull-ups with your palms facing you? then the other ones r for the ones facing away?

  • it can be for both

  • no palms facing you are Chin Ups and palms facing away(like this guy) are Pull Ups...

  • im 14 and weigh 100 pounds. i could do like 10-15 of these

  • shit dude your mad underweight.

  • good video

  • I weigh 200 and it supports me. But if your around 250, I guess you should reinforce your door

  • Nice. I got the Iron Gym too and it is worth it. Lol 10 pull ups...I can barley do 3.

  • im 14 and when i got it i weighed 135 in October. i could only do like 3 back then. now i weigh 140 i feel like a beast when i walk around school. lol i could do 15 now so it really helps.

  • i lostcount bye how man y ican do at the gym as ucan see that 260 i ma is more muscle then anything lol but yea im sure this iron gym is more little guys then big guys lol

  • @shotysnipes24 so it took 7 months to gain 5lbs and be able to do 12 more pullups? lol.

  • the iron gym i want to get it but i think im to big for it how much weight can it hold anybody know the limit?im 260

  • i forgot how much weight but i suggest you dont get it if u weigh 260. i weigh 140 im 14 and it could barely support me.

  • i weigh 176lbs it supports me very well

  • i dont know about yours but i weigh at least 200 and it supports me fine

  • i mean it supports me good but it moves a lil when i do push ups and shit so i cant imagine tht shit fr someone tht weighs 260 but since ur like all muscly then u should go to the gym. beast the gym up. lol

  • dude, im 14 and 140 too. is it really that bad?

  • no i love it its awesome. but the sit up and pushup features arent good just the pull ups bro .

  • really i love doing pushups on it, but yeah sit ups suck on it but I got the arm hang things and those work really well

  • i just one of those today. but man u make it look easy. i can only do like 5 for now lol. but i will get there soon.

  • mine didnt come with any bracket, but still works pretty well

  • wow good job, ur really goon, unlike me :))

  • Have you tried the chain belt w/ this? I usually chain a 25 pound plate on me for a couple of sets of 6 or so.

Arnold said you should about 50 Pulls a week

  • I don't have the chain belt, but I do occasionally use a 40lb weighted vest. I get about 4-5 reps a set with that on.

  • Im 14 so is it okay if I do use this or am I not old enough? if I am can I get any tips on how long the exercises should be? any advice is appreciated! *dont mind the age that the account says I don't put out real info

  • I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't be able to use it. Of course I say that without having any prior expertise in assessing Iron Gym safety for various age groups, but I'm sure you'll be fine. Seriously though, I'm sure it is no problem for you to use it. Just start slow and be patient with it, sometimes it takes a while to get solid numbers. Good luck!

  • Start slow? Alright thanks.....hmm maybe 20 minutes a day so I can get used to it? wouldn't want to damage the muscle I have

  • I think it's safe for you to use this because with the pull up exercise the weight isn't going against your body but instead you are pulling your own body weight up. When your body weight supplies the resistance it is safe. I am not a doctor nor am I a personal trainer but this is what I have always been taught so if you choose to do it good luck with the results.

  • wow.... don't watch these videos if ur gunna be an immature asshole. and LOL id like to see u upload a video of you doing a pullup or atleast half of 1 >: O

  • your mom hooked her Iron Gym right under between my legs and did pull ups into my balls you gay british chap

  • lol

  • just got this product, fantastic idea. fits right in my doorway, even tho personally working out in such a small area can be weird. The workout positions you can do with this thing are great to use. Also the included food and fitness guide is also a great basic write up for anyone wanting to bulk up....

btw, dont use socket tools to tighten this badboy up, you'll break a bolt while tightening or while using the product. The tool included is more than enough to hand tighten the bolts down.

  • I'm 225lbs will this thing hold me and will it fuck up my door? I had to get rid of all my workout gear i have cuz i got a roomate moving in and have nowhere to put the shit so i'm switchin to a pushup, pullup, squat thrust and running routine. Looks like a great product. If it can hold me im walkin to walgreens and buyin it. Thats where i saw it.

  • it says it can hold 300 pounds safely, but make sure that your door molding can be strong enough

  • Thanks man. Bought it today it seems to be holding me good.

  • got one, went from 2 on the handles to 10 in a week

  • i have a solid metal door frame and i weigh a solid 180 pounds. its a really cool workout device

  • When I started, I could do 4. Now I can do 15! I love this thing!

  • i just started this last week, couldnt do over 2 chin-ups and pull ups, now i can do five :)

  • I got one of these... I'm at around 8 pull ups. I only ever do the wider grip style tho. I still like the extra wider grip ones like they have at the gym with the slightly bent handle bars. I do the same as u do for dips, I use a chair. Also I've recently been doing handstand push ups. I guess theyre good for your shoulders.

  • this thing is awesome, but thanks for the demo...I didn't know that little metal piece was suppose to go there... LOL wow, I can only do like 3 pullups :)

  • i personally love this thing

  • I weigh a solid 272lbs. and when I tried doing pull ups the trim started making cracking sounds . Sit ups dont work either with this contraption. The only thing that works is dips and push-ups,maybe thats why the ab straps aren't included, because the trim on the door may not hold.

  • it makes creaking noises with me too and i'm 116 lbs.

  • its your door frame.. dont go too rough with it... my doorframes are weak too, but i havent heard any creaking noises yet... a good thing is to switch door frames every other time you use it, thats what i do

  • Damn, u make it look so easy, lol

  • i didint know what the mettel thing was so i through it away but it still holds me

  • should try doing wide grip pull ups bro, they do so much more for you. i remember when i first started the wide grip i could only do 4-5 now i can do like 14-15 when i'm pumped.

  • Yep, I agree. I usually try to get in at least one set of widegrips a day. It's certainly a whole other ball game with them.

  • how much weight can it hold i'm about 220 i'm renting and i don't wanna do any damage to my place

  • I have the Iron Gym and I could barely do 1 pull up or chin up. How can I use the machine if I can only do 1 pull up. Any tips on getting stronger and going to like 5 pull ups.

  • I started at only 1 or 2 pull-ups at a time as well. I just did them every day, slowly your numbers will increase. Now I max at 15 chin-ups and 12 pull-ups. You just gotta be patient with it, and do them as often as possible.

  • How did you get stronger only doing 1 or 2? did you do them more than once a day? I used to lift weights using the reps and sets method. Should I use the same method of doing 1 rep wait 2 minutes then do a pull up again. Please give detailed instructions. By the way I weigh 195 pounds and I am 5'9'' and am 16 years old. LOL should I make an effort to lose weight. I don't care about being fat. I just want to be strong.

  • Yes, doing multiple sets is a great way to get more reps in. I would do 3-5 sets at a time with about a 2 minute break in between. Usually now I do about 30 pull-ups before bed. A set of 10, a break, then 4-5 sets of 5-7 reps each. On any given day I average about 50-60 pull-ups total, but that is done through many sets throughout the day, mixed with other calisthenics - push-ups, crunches, squats, etc. Just keep at it, by summer you should be getting much better numbers.

  • correction lol I am 5 foot 9 and a half. And I weigh 187. LOL I lost weight without trying.

  • HaHa, the weight option is up to you I'd say. I'm pretty light, only 165, but I was only 154 when I started doing these. Gained 11 pounds of muscle mass, and lost some fat as well, since I had to start tightening my belt. My goal weight is 175. And I'm practically an old man next to you at 31.

  • Wow in the video you look like your in your 20s

  • you thought u could do 50...hahahaha u dumbass shows what you know bro ...good tip for all you iron gym heads while doin wide grip pull ups try holding your legs in the pike position it works your abs at the same time and works the back a lil diffrent

  • you need more work out bro

  • no i thought i could do 50 pullups and i cud only do 15 its harder than it looks

  • is it worth the 10$ S&H to get the ab straps?

  • dont lock your elbows its bad for your bones

  • Hey I havent seen that metal bracket on anyone elses vid besides yours whys that?

And im worried it would fall because my door looks like it doesnt have enough trim around it?

  • That little metal thing comes in your box.

  • You are gay and you smell like rotte eggs. Lets get light and see who is more G'd out. pap pap pap pap pap ahhhh

  • You're not supposed to go down all the way. You lock your elbows, which is not good for your bones and the growth of your muscles.

  • DUDE, THE LONGGATE ONE? I live right by there.

  • hey justino can you do demos for push-ups, dips, and using the ab straps as well?

  • I weigh 240 and it holds up just fine on the door. It displaces weight evenly along the frame therefore the door really isnt feeling your full weight but instead a fraction of it on different points.

  • Yep, it sure does. I only weigh 165, but I normally do these with a 40-60lb weighted vest on, and it doesn't phase the bar or the trim. That brings me back down to 3-5 reps per set, but it gives some quick results. Just be careful with that, first time with the weighted vest killed my back.

  • yeah it's supposed to be able to hold up 300 lbs but i would say if it's set up right and u don't over do it u might be able to get 350lbs out of it

  • you have inspired me not to give up because i got mie today and couldnt do any but ima keep trying

  • Yep, you gotta stick with it. If you can't do any right now you could start by doing "negatives." That is, use a chair to get above the bar, then slowly lower yourself down. That'll help you build up some strength so you can get to that first full pull up. Good luck!

  • im getting mine friday i can do like 3 pull ups from my friends and i wanted to ask if there is any other workout that can prepare muscle for doing pull ups like push ups maybe?

  • okey thats means ur weak as shit or ur an obese mudafuka

  • am just weak :p and u didnt have to be so rude bout it rofl

  • okey im sorry im just a silly 14 yr old

  • i orderd mine on the computer havent got it yet. is it easier to do push ups on it

    than on the floor

  • no i have it and its alot harder but it works

  • littlecc10: It will feel a lot better on your wrists when you do push ups on it, which will probably let you do more.

  • I'd be scared for the door henge braking.
