Hey a win is a win.
Plus those right hooks work because Date throws a lot of jabs.. so when using an infighter like Ippo a good choice is the right body hook. A right body upper would work as well.
This is one way to beat Date, it's not the only way, but one that people might find useful.
The video is a bit dated now though since here in the US we have All-Stars already and Revolution coming in a few months.

This is the weakest "strategy" i've ever seen. This guy needs to learn how to throw combinations and counter punch. Or you could just throw the same repetetive punch and hack your way into the title. The title of this vid should be "date strategy if you got no VB skill whatsoever". And for the guy below Vb 2 fighting spirit is better than VB 1.

This song is hella awesome...has a final battle championship like feel to it....does anyone know where to get the music for the victorious boxer series?
Also...this song should've played in the Ippo vs Sawamura fight, as Sawamura was def Ippo's greatest challenge in the manga thus far.

Yeah, duck low like you did with this guy and keep doing body hooks for a while. Once you get him stumbling then you should do the Iron Fist. Rinse and repeat and you should be good to go.

duck down and give him body shots, press square and traingle in a tempo, be patien, and i find that you dont really need the iron fist. I also completed the game 4 times and no one has ever beaten in arcade mode^^
