Germany = Jus Sanguinis, which means: Right of the blood. If you have German Parents you are automaticly German!

USA = Jus Soli, which means: Right of the ground. If you were born in the USA you are automaticly American.

So you can have both citizenship. German AND American if you were born in the USA.

other way around: If your parents are Americans...and you were born in Germany...you are not automaticly German!

For starters, you don't need to speak a language to have the respective ancestry. Secondly, his grandfather and father are German, which makes him German.

nope. you're wrong. you don't understand this very simply thing but just b/c his father and grandfather were german doesn't make him german. he was born in michigan. that means he's AMERICAN!!! if he was born in germany then he would be german, but he wasn't. the only reason he has german citizenship is b/c germany made him a citizen so he could play for the german national team during the summer olympics

Just as you're an American of (partial) Mexican descent, Kaman is an American of German descent. With that said, have you ever heard someone referred to as Mexican American? African American? Italian American? etc. This is a simple question of nationality. Since you're the one that raised it, I'd be really interested in hearing your explanation as to how this is about genetics, which I suspect you're not qualified to render an opinion on.
