  • I remember when street cars ran on the street. My mom, sister and I could catch a street car in Carnegie and ride into Pittsburgh

  • I heard something from a retired PATransit motorman just a few days ago. For a time when the Library loop was being rebuilt, PAT put front poles on a few of their PCC cars so they could run backwards from Library to Washington Jct. They almost leased 5 Red Arrow cars from SEPTA until they found out they were too wide. they also looked into a few of Boston's "Texas Ranger" PCC double-enders but that too fell through. Imagine seeing a Red Arrow St. Louis, Brilliner or Master Unit-type on PAT!!

  • I LOVE IT!

  • Ah, yes, the old 47S with the old streetcars. Actually, if that was the trolley you caught, you might have hit a goldmine: That was a 1700's car which only ran until 1988.

I never was able to see the 47S via Overbrook in its old fashion, but I did take the 47D when only 3 PCC cars were left.

  • Thanks for posting this ... it was a nice ride .... I miss my days in da 'Burgh ridin duh truhlly dawntahn .... mebbe to catch a Stiller game

  • Where? Pittsburgh, PA?

  • Good quality considering this is super 8 to video to DV; I enjoyed the ride.

Especially as I ride that stretch on our wonderful modern "T".

Suggestion: why don't you put Pittsburgh as one of the tags?
