Nice work kiddo. Might I suggest reading the Narratives of the Gentleman of Elvas, in whole. De Soto accepted any natives who decided to come in peace. Many of the natives of La Florida already knew of Christians and of the atrocities they were prone to commit. Juan Ponce de Leon and Panfilo de Narvaez were major factors that contributed to the way Hernando de Soto and his men were treated, from teh very beginning. De Soto did in fact raise crosses in many villages.
