  • this phone may be better then the iphone in terms of guts, but this phone has a standard "press 5 times to make it work" touch screen, thus making this phone a pain in the ass to use.

  • @KvizY You havent actually used it. Its the most sensitive resistive screen on any phone ever.

  • i wish poeple would play with one hand

  • oh yeah , i would like to see it running on n900 1 ghz , there would be no lag than !

  • How come the light saving screen comes up? On Bounce game it doesn't. Does this game not play as an game App? I have the N900 can you put a tutorial on how to put this game?

  • OMG, such a big difference between the final version and the pre-production

  • hell why does it lag so much??

on my iphone "2g" it runs perfectly.. o0

damn.., i wanted to buy it this month =(

  • It lags when the power saving and screen blanking is kicking in. The whole game is 50% faster with the final firmware

  • @mikkov900

Then why not make sure it runs properly if you are gonna show it off. I want this badly but seeing how it performs it would concern me..Glad to know it runs better than this.

  • @mikkov900 how do you update firmware?

  • fucking great using the light sensor to shoot unlike iShit/iCrap blocking 1/3 of the screen with both your thumbs

  • this is just SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET

  • from the looks of it he is using the proximity senor as the fire buttong. blocking it fires or its removing your finger that makes it fire.

    very interesting.

  • I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO want to see counter-strike being played on the N900!!! Does anyone agree with me here?? :)

Oh man I wish I was a developer or I actually new anything about linux.. I would've totally done it, since there's already a version of cs for linux! >:)

  • yh i wished that too

  • Counter-Strike is, unfortunately, only available for Windows. You CAN run it on Linux using Wine, but it's not really the same thing as having a native Linux version.

The second problem, as far as I'm aware, is that Wine does not completely work on ARM, which is the CPU architechture of the N900.

But games are coming for it. I'm writing one, and so are a few of my friends. The community is active, at the very least. :)

  • Sorry but you are wrong. There's a couple of versions of Linux ported Counter-strike.. And I know that Wine uses a total different CPU architechture.. (which would be great if someone actually ports it to ARM).. And also it's great that you're working on a game.. :)

I know in maemo[dot]org the community is working hard to do lots and lots of things.. :O

  • Weird, all sites I've come across mentioning a 'linux port' of Counter-Strike all either 404, spam ads or confuse getting it to run on Wine as being ported.

Perhaps you'd like to point me to the site where you've read about this port? Phoronix doesn't count.

The one reason CS is unlikely to get ported is because it's a Steam game, and getting it working on Linux would mean making a Linux port of Steam as well. There are so far no officially announced plans by Valve to do a Linux port of Steam.

  • Oh I am sorry I wasn't being clear enough... I didn't mean Steam CS (1.5-1.6).. I am talking about older cs.. Also I wish I can post links.. but I can't do it here.. :(

  • You would need an emulator for x68 hardware.

Wine Is Not an Emulator (W-I-N-E) :)

  • I understand that.. I was thinking someone would maybe port it.. xD

Or maybe have something that emulates x86 windows (kind of like DOSbox).. lol

  • It is very hard to port "closed-source" games. DosBox is emulator. You need much faster machine for Dosbox than it is required for native running.

I think it is impossible to play CSS class game on N900 hardware. I don't think Nexuiz will be ported and played ad normal speed.

  • @bandora There is no Linux versions of Counter-Strike, Half-life or anything from valve, only servers. Also Steam was ported to Linux, but not the client too, only server dependent part.

  • @bandora

Unfortunately Counter Strike (nor Half Life) is not open source so there's nothing you can do about.

  • his left thumb is pressing the black part of the left screen to fire. n900 has some unique things to do with the left and black parts of the screen

in browser mode, the left gives out a cursor and the right seems to be the back button throughout the phone

  • the community of developers are putting this device in another level, and it not release yet, he is using the sensor of proximity to fire and the accelerometer to move that really nice

  • very nice indeed.
