well well thats why we are the way we are we see others making mistakes and some just half to cut them down man just teach not cut down the small tree let it grow let it be trimmed but not cut down thats why some of the new generations of trees never grow to fruition...
When I was growing up i seen only one women sing bird songs this way. She was very sickly and in a wheelchair. My grandmother and older family members told me, it was because to touched that gourd and sang with it. But must be different in the Apache community.

This is the most embarassing thing I've ever seen. Women don't use gourds. What language was she speaking? Sounds like she's trying to speak Yavapai? Perhaps some lessons from an elder maybe she can pick up the language. Do us all a favor and take this off its embarassing.

These women know that they were not to use the gourd but found themselves at a crossroads with no men in the community willing to learn and teach the young men it was going to be lost to our community, so they took it as a duty to restore the songs in our community so they could as mothers and grandmothers teach to their sons!!!! So in the generation our men can sing the songs!
I was taught that women could sing but NEVER EVER use a gourd. I don't like seeing these women using gourds, its not the role of a woman!!!!! Its just plain sad too see all the changes taking place with the Bird Songs!!!!
