I used to listen to this before going out on Friday nights, and I'd listen to it again on Monday afternoons, after weekends spent unjustifiably in the cells. Anyone who dislikes this enough to actually click dislike is without a spark of humanity, and those who like it enough to click like are our only hope.
You are so right! I love how he adds his own genuine dry ironic wit to Ratty´s part, this little mischievous sparkle every now and then. And his voice is like milk and honey anyway :)
This is so crazy because I haven't seen this since I was a kid and this song is the one that stuck with me all these years. Thanks so much for posting it!!
in the early 90s my neighbor knocked up for me to go to school in the morning and my little brother was watching this on TV and my neighbor thought it was the funniest thing for the next 10 years to say "We'll go boating" every time he saw me outside
i loved this but does anyone remember the movie which follows the story with toad going to prison and the weasles taking over toad hall? it is made by the same people as this. i'm trying to find the duck ditty performed by these people as it far and away the best version

Thank you for this post. I thought it long lost. I used to play before going on wild nights out. And I'd play it again on the Monday morning when the fckpigs let me out.
So am I! My mother and I could recall the mellody precisely, although the last time we heard it was about 10 years ago. Until now, it was only in my childhood that I listened to this song.
I love this song! It's a very catchy melody and I love the way the youngsters join in. Although it always had a sense of unease about it, after the catastrophe with the great steamer in the episode, which scared me so much when I was younger!

Its "the wind in the willows" 1983,
its the prologue to the series which has a good recap of it in the very first episode.
The entire collection might be avaiable online if you should google "The Wind in the Willows - Complete Collection"show and "isohunt"

I tried to learn the song on the piano playing
the song exactly how Ratty played it with
only four fingers. It sounded okay, but Ratty
is a wonderful pianist and accordion player.

My favourite aspect of youtube - reliving the best parts of childhood. And then feeling blue that I'm now 'a grown up' :)
