just finished getting one of these motors running after sitting for 10 years... i personally do not like these motors at all a pain in the ass and a bad design in my opinion... but if it is something that someone likes then that is there choice and more power to them
people always complain about the 6.2 and the 6.5 but every one ive ever seen has over 2 hundred thousend dont see many strokers or cummins with that!!!!
Alright fellas that was my truck and that was me in the video, it don't need heads or headgaskets it's just friggin cold out, my hat yes I like dodges I have had 6 cummins, note the sweatshirt also, as for buying a powerjoke I have had two and probably won't buy another, as for the 6.2 being junk they are far from it the guy that said it's the worst diesel gm ever made is wrong the 5.7/4.3 were the worst diesels gm made, the duramax couldn't be what it is if gm did it alone they needed the help
@dieselcummins1 well you see when you start a diesel when its really cold you tend to get white smoke now if if the engine was warm and white smoke was coming then maybe a new head gasket and probly head
The 7.3 powerstroke, 6.0 powerstroke, and 5.9 cummins will get 20mpg with some modifications. Other diesels will probably get that too but those are the one one's i'm familiar with
@fifmasta So what do you call an engine? 1.6 honda? My coca cola bottle has at LEAST 2 liters...ok, bad ricer joke. My 7.3L NON TURBO diesel in my 7600 pound F350 gets a cool 23 MPG (american, not imperial). It has 400 000 kilometers (240 000 miles) on a COMPLETELY untouched engine and drivetrain. Let's see your honda drive the same 400 000 kilometers my truck did, hauling 45 feet of loaded horse trailer across Canada, and then we'll talk efficiency.
@CSXtrackworker well truthfully because they can't handle any kind of hard work for very long. heck a small block gas burner would out last it pulling hard. the dang things don't like to start in the bitter cold. the best way to help with that was military glow plugs and put the on a manual button. but that only helps so much. but as a car engine they did ok. the 6.2 just has many limitations. really i just said that because the guy it was ment for is a dumbass. nothing on you man.
@blownutsmyass Oh no, I wasn't being a dick to ya. I personally like the 6.5 TD. They really are a good engine, but get a bad rap because of the PMD and the harmonic balancer, which both are an easy fix. They may no tmake as much power as these new diesel's, but it will do the job. I usually just ask people why they dislike them. Just want to get their opinion on them. heck, I know a guy who pulls 16,000 lbs total with his 6.5 dualie which is a gooseneck and a 3rd gen cummins pulling truck.
@CSXtrackworker well i don't totally dislike them they just don't take the hard work. heck i drove one for 5 years back and forth to work but when it came to pulling anything they would get hot and crack a head or just come apart. once i went on my own i blew up 8 or 9 6.2 and 6.5s trying to pull what my cummins has done day in and day out for 10 years and allmost 400,000 miles. but i would buy a 6.2 again just as a drive around truck.
if u got manual glow plug like i do, try hitting the glow plug for a couple of sec's when shes turning over, that what i do & she fires up every time the first time. & ohh u may need new glow plugs.
With a diesel, the heat of compression ignites the fuel. The cylinders can get so cold in the winter, that they suck the heat out of the compressed air, and it won't ignite the fuel properly. That is whats happening here, its missfiring because its cold. Once it warms up it will smooth out
replace those bad glow plugs. Or replace the wiring going to them. My 6.2 will start the first try, even when its -20 with a strong wind. Sounds cool once it got running.
needs some work, my 6.5 starts right up even in the cold without being plugged in. A 6.5 is basically the same as a 6.2 it just has a larger bore and most of them are factory turbo.
@sc3n3cor3 all engines need some back pressure to keep from burning the valves. TURBO diesels are ok straightpiped because the turbo supplies backpressure, your 6.2 however would probably be much happier in the long run with a muffler of some kind.
@Catalina65389 really? but you talk all this shit behind your screen now didn't you? WOW some people are over the top RETARDED!!! but hey feel free to stop by my house any time you want douche. lets see if you got the balls.
i cycled the glowplugs about 6 times, it was friggin cold out and im pretty sure a few were bad, so before you run your mouth next time think about it, when i had that truck i was a diesel tech for a garbage company i am not stupid.... whos the "fucktard" now
@harpelurkekarve ....glowplugs are working....but looks like he needs the ac delco "rapid heat" plugs. For a while gm sold glow plugs that were too cold and the 6.2/6.5 were extremely hard to start. Buddy is a diesel tech :)
acres90, either would only just get it started. This truck would start, then stall. So either would have not made a difference. And the chances of spraying to much either is to high. Could damage the engine easy. For me, if it doesnt start on its oun, it doesnt start. Just safer that way.
you need to suck a big righteous dick you dumb fuck. open your eyes its a fucking truck i'm don't with this conversation because obviously your too retarded to comprehend the difference.
