dude seriously i luv this song cause my mid name is fight and trouble<<see my name is bader arrack alficker <<arrack عراك is arabic word means fight an trouble!!!! real
If you're here arguing about this song and which version it is, then you don't truly know what this song is about on a personal level. The lyrics are the entirety of this song, if you've never worked your ass off in a steel mill, coal mine, lumber yard, etc. than you TRULY don't get how real this song is to the working class of America. We aren't slaves to the company store anymore, but it's still fucking tough.
EB DOES a very decent job, I hear he just now toured with WAR after 38 years or so. Like to see all those greats that still fuckin rock on. Can you blame me? I hope not-JW
@jarwick Very cool! I got to see WAR in a very small venue back in the 90's. They played for a few hours, then they came out into the audience and just chilled out moving from table to table. They sat with my girl and I for about 20 minutes, I'll never forget it, great group of dudes!
My mother use to play a little guitar and I far as I can recall this is the only song she ever played for us kids five decades ago, I still like it. Thanks for posting this video, at least now I know for sure I am not the only one who liked this song from the cradle to the grave, stay cool, peace out from this only hippie
Thanks for uploading this. I didn't even know a video had been made for this. It's a brilliant song. I only wish they'd used two counts of the same lower-octave riff at 2:31 before going to the higher one, which is how it appeared in the film (I've got this song on my MP3 player so it's something I've always wished they did, not something I've suddenly thought of after watching this :)
I love Eric Burdon, but after hearing the Animals' rendition of "House of the Rising Sun," I can honestly say that I expected a lot more. This is certainly a unique take on Sixteen Tons, but it certainly wasn't what I was ready for, lol.
nice version! was just about to wonder why never anyone made a really rockbeat/eguitar or funky jazzy saxophone version of it and there is is. still, why starting with it only at 2.25? like waltopher implies such may corrupt the message of the song a bit maybe but it also has such potential to become a huge crowd pleaser. this song has so much energy and beat
Someone please tell me...was that Rockabilly GOD Robert Gordon at the desk with the daisy in the opening and closing scene??? I would love to hear HIM sing this song with his baritone voice!
Just have to say I enjoyed this version... but I can't get away from the Tennessee Ernie version, still think it is the best. This song is one of misery... I think the less accented with instrumentals this song is the better... all about the voice of misery and TEF got it best... just my two cents
Let's make a deal. Without the original this version would never exist, in fact. But Eric's the best. We can't always believe in oldies, we must work on new things, and that's exactly what Burdon does. I know that his version is the best ever, before hearing the others, because Burdon is always the best: "House of the Rising Sun", "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", "Paint it Black", "River Deep Mountain High", no matter what. Burdon IS music, good music!
Yes, this is a good version, but the "best" version of a song usually comes down to personal taste. I personally think the originals of all those songs are better than Eric's, but that's an OPINION, not a FACT.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Only good version. TEF is a homo. He should have done a duet with Liberace. They could have ended their performance by sucking each other off. Eric Burdon has SOUL. He makes the song work for the very first time. TEF can clean my toilet if he pays my dog enough for the privilege.
You can't be a real person, more like a hater. All of these guys are great in their different ways. I agree with many commentors that Tennessee E Ford's version is the best or one of the best. I personally like Eric Burdon's version very much. You might look at some of the Russians who love this song. I bet you wouldn't say your terrible things to any of these performers in person. It's so easy to pull out your resentments and negativity. Try loving people's efforts, you may be happier.
Ernie's got a better voice for this. This is a modern version so the instrumentals are clearer and of higher quality. But Ford owns it. This guy can't touch Ford.
I love your love, for Burdon - but what about that song he sang in 1967 - "we gotta get out of this place" or in 1968 "sky pilot" ? - by the way, all good - lzloon, Andrew Lynch
