  • we have to sing this in choir :3

  • It should be called the sexophone...

  • @Battlehammer89 In reference to Eric Burdon; it should be! He is so sexy!!

  • dude seriously i luv this song cause my mid name is fight and trouble<<see my name is bader arrack alficker <<arrack عراك is arabic word means fight an trouble!!!! real

  • This is what good rock and roll can do fora song. A touch of jazz, a lot of classic, touch your soul music. Thanks Eric.

  • Burdon is simply in a class of his own. No one sounds like him. He sounds like no one else. I would say that's pretty damn original.

  • Great Video!!!! My son Joe fell into Mt. St. Helen's Valcano and for his birthday I was looking for some video ideas. This is great. Love it.

  • Wow... what a character.

  • The song was written by Merle Travis in 1948. Tennessee Ernie Ford made a hit record out of it in the 1950s.

  • i wish tom waits would cover this song

  • "16 tons

    what do you get

another day older, deeper and dead"

  • @TheGame110011 o.O

"You load 16 tons, what do you get?

Another day older and deeper in debt,

St. Peter don't ya call me 'cause I can't go,

I owe my soul to the company store."

    Not deeper and dead :P

  • I love this movie, and Eric's rendition of this classic song!

  • If you're here arguing about this song and which version it is, then you don't truly know what this song is about on a personal level. The lyrics are the entirety of this song, if you've never worked your ass off in a steel mill, coal mine, lumber yard, etc. than you TRULY don't get how real this song is to the working class of America. We aren't slaves to the company store anymore, but it's still fucking tough.

  • Great song! ^5 Tom Hanks great actor and....confirmed Reptilian!

  • Beautiful ..

  • excellent vocals, Eric

    Great photography & editing too.

  • EB DOES a very decent job, I hear he just now toured with WAR after 38 years or so. Like to see all those greats that still fuckin rock on. Can you blame me? I hope not-JW

  • @jarwick Very cool! I got to see WAR in a very small venue back in the 90's. They played for a few hours, then they came out into the audience and just chilled out moving from table to table. They sat with my girl and I for about 20 minutes, I'll never forget it, great group of dudes!

  • @jarwick

spill the wine and sky pilot were my first contacts with EB.

  • I remember that. Super cool version!!

  • 16 tons... one of my favorite song... for your information ;-))

  • Good song. Not as good as the original, but many re-makes aren't. Doesn't mean this isn't a good interpretation.

  • how many people can relate to this song Lol :)

  • My mother use to play a little guitar and I far as I can recall this is the only song she ever played for us kids five decades ago, I still like it. Thanks for posting this video, at least now I know for sure I am not the only one who liked this song from the cradle to the grave, stay cool, peace out from this only hippie

  • this was the only good part of that movie, Great version of this working person's song.

  • Coooooool!

  • I think this is the best version of ''16 Tons".

  • my mother use to play a little guitar and would sing us this song when I was a kid, about 50 years ago, and I still like it today.

  • 8 people are deeper in debt.

  • @InturaDC 9

  • @InturaDC So deep that they can't actually afford a good taste of music :D.

  • Joe Versus the Volcano

  • which movie is it????

  • lovely Eric

  • Who is that saxophone player!?

  • I'm looking for Ottawa Blues Fest of Eric Burton

  • Loved this movie. The music was a big part of that love.

  • Cool.

  • Thanks for uploading this. I didn't even know a video had been made for this. It's a brilliant song. I only wish they'd used two counts of the same lower-octave riff at 2:31 before going to the higher one, which is how it appeared in the film (I've got this song on my MP3 player so it's something I've always wished they did, not something I've suddenly thought of after watching this :)

  • I didn't like this movie, but this song is awesome.

  • Thank you!!!!!!

  • Damn its so true

  • Eric's voice is amazing!

  • Burdon is still strong and disturbing. 16 stars

  • Totally tasteful remake of Tennessee Ernie Ford's original. Also, it kicks some serious ASS!!!

Sorry, just had a "brain cloud" :-)

  • too much cheeseball electric guitar

  • @asianwhitenigger It was made in 1990. Cheeseball electric guitar was all the rage back then :(

  • Eric Burdon a fait la meilleure version... Celle des Platters est mauvaise a côté de celle d' Eric Burdon

  • I think Eric Burdon had the better version of this song..Fantastic job Eric!!

  • I love this movie

  • I LOVE THIS GREAT SONG AND ... TOM!! :P

  • I absolutely love this song!

  • Eric Burdon's voice in this song is so sexy and hot. I love this man!!

  • the platters are good, but eric burdon gives a well done updated version!

  • I definitely would say Eric Burdon did a great version!

  • epic song epic movie epic video thanks

  • Yes Eric has nailed it, yes of course many have before and there will always be debate about whose version is best, a mark of a great songwriter

  • @spamanator666 In my opinion the best version was done by the original singer Merle Travis.

  • that guitar sounds like Michael Landau! I don't know if the guy in the video is, looks kinda like him in the 80s!

  • omg we just song diss song and we killed diss shyt

  • 2:06 Does anyone else think he looks like Lon Chaney Jr. in that shot?

  • Wow! Fantastic!

  • Coolest thing I ever saw!!!

  • my choir is singing this

  • I love Eric Burdon, but after hearing the Animals' rendition of "House of the Rising Sun," I can honestly say that I expected a lot more. This is certainly a unique take on Sixteen Tons, but it certainly wasn't what I was ready for, lol.

  • Lol Eric Burdon looks funny as shit in this video but he's a great singer even in the 90's.

  • *****

  • Satan headbangs to Eric Burdon!!!

  • AWESOME TY LAURA 10***********

  • nice version! was just about to wonder why never anyone made a really rockbeat/eguitar or funky jazzy saxophone version of it and there is is. still, why starting with it only at 2.25? like waltopher implies such may corrupt the message of the song a bit maybe but it also has such potential to become a huge crowd pleaser. this song has so much energy and beat

  • Someone please tell me...was that Rockabilly GOD Robert Gordon at the desk with the daisy in the opening and closing scene??? I would love to hear HIM sing this song with his baritone voice!

  • Come from past to be a song of the day

  • Just have to say I enjoyed this version... but I can't get away from the Tennessee Ernie version, still think it is the best. This song is one of misery... I think the less accented with instrumentals this song is the better... all about the voice of misery and TEF got it best... just my two cents

  • EPIC...Burdon is a master of vocal interpretation. Thanks for sharing.

  • great tune!

  • excellente vidéo !

  • Interesting! ....as a LUGGAGE problem!

  • The more things change, the more they stay the same. Very relevant lyrics for many of us today.

  • Thanks for posting this. Great version of a great

    song!

  • thank you xd

  • Great Eric.B

  • who is the girl at 1:03

  • WHATTA VOICE HAS HE GOT! OMG, LOVE IT!

  • my opinion is the Platters did the best version, the lower the voice the better the song gets :)

  • @IronGhost1979 Nope Tennesse Ernie Ford is the original and the very best.

  • Fuck you.

  • Great Song!

    Great Voice!

    Great Movie!

  • posenka o.k. ale montaż chory

  • este cara é muito louco canta demais

  • Let's make a deal. Without the original this version would never exist, in fact. But Eric's the best. We can't always believe in oldies, we must work on new things, and that's exactly what Burdon does. I know that his version is the best ever, before hearing the others, because Burdon is always the best: "House of the Rising Sun", "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", "Paint it Black", "River Deep Mountain High", no matter what. Burdon IS music, good music!

  • Yes, this is a good version, but the "best" version of a song usually comes down to personal taste. I personally think the originals of all those songs are better than Eric's, but that's an OPINION, not a FACT.

  • You can't be a real person, more like a hater. All of these guys are great in their different ways. I agree with many commentors that Tennessee E Ford's version is the best or one of the best. I personally like Eric Burdon's version very much. You might look at some of the Russians who love this song. I bet you wouldn't say your terrible things to any of these performers in person. It's so easy to pull out your resentments and negativity. Try loving people's efforts, you may be happier.

  • Trés bon cet Eric Burdon. Esxcellent

  • great song!!!!!!!!!

  • If you want to hear the impressive version of this song, please do yourself the favor and listen to Barry Carl sing 16 tons with Rockapella.

  • OMG i really love rock n roll

i really like the west feeling funny in egypt

  • Love this movie!!!

  • All versions of this song are awesome

  • Ernie's got a better voice for this. This is a modern version so the instrumentals are clearer and of higher quality. But Ford owns it. This guy can't touch Ford.

  • Can someone upload "Devil's Daughter" from Eric Burdon???

  • What movie is this?

  • Joe Vs. The Volcano

  • Which production do you mean??

  • Yes So much better than this (The Platters Version).

  • sehr sehr geiles lied

  • that movie was kool!

  • This is, without a doubt, the BEST version of this song!!! Thanks for posting.

  • Tom Hanks with long hairs...holy shit

  • Of course this is the far best version...

  • His Voice, you know it's Eric Burdon!!!!

  • yes he voice is strong and deep and I love it

  • i love this song for his voice and the rythmn

  • Yeah, great job Eric, I love your voice.

  • check out the album "soul of a man"

  • great fucking job ERIC

  • I've got TWO words for all of you-- BRAIN CLOUD!

  • I love your love, for Burdon - but what about that song he sang in 1967 - "we gotta get out of this place" or in 1968 "sky pilot" ? - by the way, all good - lzloon, Andrew Lynch

  • I've never heard any of his other stuff. I'll have to check it out.

  • I'm not arguing that with you!

  • We need more catalogs, Joe.

    ---well then please order some!

  • Eric, yer still gannin' man. I've got that recording you made in Morton Sounds, Blyth with the Mike Carr Five. And that allnighter in the arcade with the Kansas City Five and Terry Lightfoot the rock and roll clarinet player!!

    Keep on swingin'

    Nick

  • hah! did this ever appear on anything ever?!??!???! awesome. joe for president and the ossie davis character for head of the fcc

  • It's on the "I Used To Be An Animal" Album.

  • I knew Eric Burdon was cool when I was 8 years old, lol! This is GREAT! He's like 70! ;P

  • I knew Eric Burdon was cool when I was 8 years old, lol! This is GREAT! He's like 70! ;P

  • Burdon is THE MAN!

  • Burdon is the shiznet.

  • very catchy song :D

  • I have this version of the song on my iPod. I was actually playing it in the car on my way to work today. God, I need to find another job!

  • You owe your soul to the company store bradah

    Aloha

    Rick

  • You should hear the same song by Alexandre Zelkine deap voice

  • very nice

  • This is very good - a hard-edged, driving version of the song which is better than the 1950s' original. Eric sounds great, and looks dishy in the 'studio' scenes. It's a pity this hasn't been released on DVD, along with other rare EB/Animals' footage.

  • Classic Burdon.Thank you brother for the post.

  • Hahaha!...Very funny! Eric is a hoot as usual!... ;-D

  • Great stuff! Thanks for this Eric Burdon gem! :-D
