  • Did urban dance squad's fast lane got inspired by this or was it the other way around ;-D

As the same tune of guitar is in it.

  • Ah right, the original is Megablast from Bomb the bass :-). Amiga version ftw!

  • You are awesome. I loved this game as a kid and I couldn't member what it was called. Thanks for posting.

  • great game and terrific ost - superb stuff!

  • Loved the game, love the amiga!

Thanks for posting some nostalgia :)

  • My new Amiga-compatible SAM 460 arrived 2 weeks ago, tell you what its exciting to be back using AmigaOS once again! And lots of software updates coming this summer as well, a WebKit browser (like Safari), FireFox 4, OpenOffice (well next year likely). A full Mesa graphic experience at some point this year hopefully, future is looking quite rosy for anyone wanting to relive AmigaOS. Check out amigaos(dot)net for the low-down.

  • I loved this game. If a similar version and track came out on XBL i'd buy it in a snap!

  • After this, I'm ready for anything.

  • That ATARI ST VIDEO with Amiga sound ... Amiga had Color Intro Atari ST Black and White + a bit different sound

  • @neoprana Sorry but no, this IS 100% the Amiga version.

  • @ShiryuGL

Then I'm sorry too ... I do remeber colored gfx there :/

  • @ShiryuGL sorry but no, I have the Amiga version. The intro is in color.

  • @IlContePasticcere Mines in B&W.

  • @IlContePasticcere As is mine.

  • @IlContePasticcere, This intro is NOT in colour. You mean that "second" intro where are the credits and stuff, that's in color.

  • @IlContePasticcere My Amiga 500 version's black and white. Sorry.

  • @neoprana, Yeah intros where pretty much the same on both ST and Amiga (looks wise), your on about the next intro which had 'slightly' different version to the first intro.

  • @neoprana jThe Amiga version of the Intro was black and white like the ST version. I still have the original Game on the real Hardware so please dont tell nonsense :)

  • Bitmap Brothers!!!

  • check bambaataas theme

  • OMG! I had forgotten just how good this intro was and considering how old this game is now I feel it still holds up today, great stuff. Thanks for sharing this game was ace. ;-)

  • Wow this sounds so much like John Carpenter's - Assault to Precinct 13!

    »» watch?v=1TBkABqSn0M&feature=related

  • @h4rv3st It is, Bomb the Bass used the same bassline from that movie theme, it's documented. =)

  • @ShiryuGL Check my remix of the music here ! I hope you like psycadelic visuals.....

  • @midierror I did. Very cool. =)

  • @ShiryuGL thanks ! I like your music ...subd !

  • Well if you haven't ever I can only pick this up from Run DMC: "Aw yeah - check this out!" =)

  • groovedan has a better version

  • this version was far superior to the inferior st one.the amiga ruled the home computer market .great times and i still own my A 500,

  • @MrArnold1972 I dunno technically maybe but I prefer the ST version for the sampled cutout from the original song on the intro.

Why didn't the Amiga just use a higher quality and perhaps longer sample?

In terms of graphics I can hardly see any difference between the two.

  • @bobbystar101 i will agree with you on the graphics.

but the reason was and it was a very common beef with amiga owners was the fact that they both shared the same processor.and so more often than not the amiga version was merely a port over of the st version and amiga owners were suffering because it didnt utilize the amiga,s custom chipset.some programmers did but the majority found it easier to merely port the st version over,

  • @bobbystar101 Using a raw music sample is unfavorable, since a long continuous sample takes too much space, the only feasible method would be having it in a lower quality, which would suck. Sampling separate instruments and voices, though, then rearranging the music in code, saves space while having the entire song play on the game.

  • @20eric07 Ah of course, seems obvious now you say it. Good explanation, thumbs up :)

  • This game would be mediocre without this music.

  • Oh my.....we where young at this times...great times....great games and music

  • killah111eleven!

i wish i could turn back the time....

  • Amigas had great sound for their time.

  • good old amiga music.... sound tracker and the old faithfull.... octamed... Luv it!

  • Sweet! I need an amiga!

  • Amiga version is the best!

  • Funnily enough the tune, 'Bomb up the Bass' was actually a sample from the film, 'Precinct 13' by John Carpenter, whom also wrote the music! Ha!

  • This is best soundtrack to any game ever !!!!!!!!!!!

Takes me back to the days of my childhood when I first got the Amiga 500, I used to reload this game constantly just to hear this.

    Xenon 2 rocks!

  • oh my god :) mon dieu, la vraie intro de l'amiga tel que je lavait

its the same here when starts

BOM THE BASS withakker , bitmap coding

    hum a treasure guys.....

  • I loved this game, it was my first game ever i finished to the end. Only don't remember if it was on an amiga 500 or 1200 (got both).

  • quality !!! takes me back to my childhood, good old amiga 500 !!!

  • the best

    sidewinder

  • ehehehehehehe........BIGUP!!!

  • How many times must I have loaded up this game just to listen to the intro...

  • ROFL me too, I was addicted! But that's the Amiga version? I never seen this screen in black and white, i remember the one in color and the music was without any voice.

  • This is how I remember the title screen on the Amiga version. The Atari ST one was the same but the music was lot shorter and just looped after 10 secs or so.

The in game music didn't have the voice, maybe that's what you're thinking of?

  • yes i dont remember the voice in the music. Atm i have the Amiga working, someone knows how to download the game and keep it working on the Amiga?

  • Orignal release had this full intro, but think the Budget version had it cut. It was also missing from the less than legal versions a few of us may or may not have owned...

  • Me too!!!!

  • and me dude lol its still class

  • oh yeah so many times :)

  • ...and when we arrived to the before last level.... the game crashed :~(

we never saw the end, and now i can rest in peace!!!!! :)

  • YES !

  • Die Mucke rockt !

  • Waa waaa waaah yeah!

    Nostalgia.

    ok?

    ;p

    ------

Amiga stuff will never-ever become obsolete.

  • T'a raisons ce ne sera jamais vieux pour nous je fais partis des gens ki n'oublirons jamais les jeux et les consoles d'Atari St et d'amiga :)

  • This game was rock hard.I like to consider myself a dab hand at 2d shoot em ups but i got nowhere on this game without cheating like a dirty fiend.good tune though.bomb the bass are ace.

  • This brings up old memories....

  • remember that dumb bastard at the end of the level and you could buy advice and always used to say `you cant take it with you` so you would waste like 200 credits or whatever then not have enough for the laser and you couldnt save games and stuff...great game tho but i couldnt get past the second level like ...ever..or maybe once i did, natch.

  • Fuckin Awesome Game! they dont make em like they used ta!

  • burner, burner, burner

  • Oh this is golden. I had forgottin the A500 intro! YAY! :D

  • Hooooooly heck, that's amazing. Blows away the other versions of the game, jeez.

  • this still sounds so good ;)

  • I played it for a long time on tape...sometimes suddenly at a party...the other people looked with funny faces at me...what's this??

  • I had an Atari ST on which the music didn't sound as good as on the Amiga but I had bought the 12" vinyl of that track anyway and played it while gaming. The ST is long gone, but I still have the record!

  • @axelvetter yes but the 12'' vinyl is a lot different from the great track in the game intro as I found...in case that we're talking about the same piece (Megablast - Hip Hop On Precinct 13 - 7 inch mix)

  • One of the best game-intro musics ever! I recorded on tape and played it in my car! Really great!!!!

  • Yeah! great music!

  • Excellent music, love the 8-bit sampling, lol. Reminds me of being 11 again...<sniff>

  • Great Music and great game!!!

  • lol

  • FIRST!
