Mvh Ett gammalt Hagabarn.
@Pekkanini55 Could you please send me the backing track of this? I'm building my own homemade theremin and this looks like something I could use for my first steps (the track has quite clear chord progressions and looks like fun to jam with).
@woro90 - Hi! I don't really send my original tracks around to everybody, it's my composition and besides it would take some time to mix that down again..so..
But I can send you the whole song with the theremin on it if you like?
@mortededame There are other theremins that aren't manufactured by Moog that cost a little as 160 Dollars. They aren't very high quality, such as the one in the video, but it's great if you've never played it.
@ThePleasentrees : Unfortunately Moog Music doesn't manufacture the Pro
anymore and I know that the used ones are being sold at a very high price, I heard of one being sold for $5 000...The Standard theremins that Moog sell is absolutely fine, though. You can get one for $550-600. Good Luck!
@DeeperThanSurface - I guess that you have a real advantage if you're a good violin player and want to try the theremin. It's all about listening and developing of your body memory, if you see what I mean.
Pekka skulle du kunna spela ryska nationalsången på en theremin när jag gifter mig och begravs??? snälla, detta e ett av de koolaste intrumenten som finns
xD!!!! this was hilarious.. i actually liked the song and he's an excellent theremin player. a lot of people lack the ear for the theremin .. but this concept is a bit wacky .. and i don't think it'll catch on. lmao XD
Please, do not confuse the Craftwerk mimicry, which was a choice, with the style in which, by necessity, a theremin has to be played or you're going to find similaties between a celloist and an harpist.
I'm not confusing anything -I CAN see a choice of clothing, setting and some "electronic effects" in lighting and everything. I am well aware of what I see and I don't think you know so much better.
They generate a weak electrical field around each antenna. Your body also naturally generates it's own electrical charge. When you put your hands near the antenna(s),they react to your movements and translate the current into pitch and volume. You literally play it by waving your hands around (hopefully in a precise way) and music is the result. The Theremin is the only instrument in the world played by NOT touching it. It was invented by a Russian genius named Leon Theremin in 1919.
Leon Theremin got the idea for his invention one day when he walked past a radio that was playing. As he passed by it he heard a faint sound that was changing pitch as he moved closer to the radio. He realised his body position had something to do with it and deduced it was caused by his own capacitance(your bodies natural electrical charge). Here is where his true genius came into play, most would have tried to eliminate this "interference" instead,he saw the potential to make music from it!
Fantastic

How hard is it to learn the theremin?
Manyskins 2 years ago
It depends what musical background you have. To play a melody on the theremin is like playing a fretless bass, without the bass :-)

The right stance before the camera; a mix between Buster Keaton, Monsieur Hulot and Astrid Lindgren's Pippi Calzelunghe.
But do TV producers watch YouTube?
Pekkanini could overshadow the Monkies.
CaptainCaptcha 2 years ago
don't you think it's a little kraftwerk, too? :-) anyway, it's well done.
popovka 2 years ago
Nothing of the sort: the instruments are not hand-made by Pekkanini himself.

I meant the video was well done. and the style of the video reminds me of the band kraftwerk.
