Black powder motors such as these are great for beginners, who can then graduate to ammonium perchlorate based motors such as those made by Aerotech.

Build one big enough put a rx, servo, or two and gyro. i'd love to see one like that, just for stabalizers not to try and fly. :) That way you can make sure it go's straight up and straight back down, and you can help guide it if need be, so it want end up in a tree on the way back down.
