@cherylz1 It's neither a big brother nor a little brother. Originally, Dassault was part of the British-led international consortium that eventually built the Eurofighter (that's the British fighter you're talking about). But, in the midst of the program, Dassault and France had a falling out with the other partners and decided to go it alone. Their effort turned into the Rafale. Because the two planes started from the same base, that's why they look similar.
Its. A great plane , bravo Dassault ! If brazil air force buy it , they ll make the best things and they ll get the best air force of south America and keep the independance of the impérialism of USAF
@esprit83990 Bullshit..If you wanna keep your independence you should develop your own fighter.
France is also an imperialistic country..Besides,the new preisdent Dilma is interested in American Super Hornet
because it seems to be a better fighter with superior Radar and Electronics..The Rafale is the second most expensive fighter in the world. The Rafale is since 12 years without a single export deal.
@FORBAN2 i'm not agree with you , the contract isn't done with the american (the hornet) and the "Rafale" get too the superior radar and electronics ,because "Rafale" with " F22" are always in evolution by the engineers(french or american) , don't forget the F22 was created for the "cold war " too , and the F22 didn't go in the operations theatre (afghanistan(is the F18) ,irak etc...) it's just stay in USA , the"Rafale" went in the operations theatre (afghanistan, and now lybia) .
I really love the Rafalé. It's basically a more functional, more superior and more beautiful version of the Eurofighter. Having both the Gripen NG and the Rafalé as Europe's protectors makes me feel pretty damn safe to be honest
WOW !!! s'il vous plait dasault ! j'en veux 1 pour aller chercher ma baguette le dimanche matin chez le boulanger ! ...ben , j'oublierai pas le gateau non plus ! :)
This is surely the most intelligent and argumented comment I've ever read. Sincerely, I totally agree with your vision of the world. everything from France is bad. But, let me think. First flying object, first aircraft, first helicopter, first hydroplane are french? Why did you use something issued from french invention then? There is a fail in your reasoning.
Awesome! I hope this bird wins the contract in my Country. I think major competition is between Rafael, Mig-35 and Eurofighter. Active Electronically Steered Array (AESA) Airborne Radar to suit IAF requirements plays a major factor though. I have also heard that India may increase its requirement of 126 jets at present to 180-190.
@ShivKumarBatalavi Well the MiG-35 has already been dropped, so it's a run between the Gripen NG, Eurofighter and the Rafalé. Rumors has it that the Gripen has also been cut from the contests because of its radar, but the contact person at SAAB Gripen for India assured me that that's a lie since the Gripen NG's radar is much more advanced than that of the Eurofighter. In the end it will be a show-down between the Rafalé and Gripen as of the Brazil deal.
@wellerocks It'll be a showdown between political interests, bribes, and bullshit. Which plane Brazil chooses will unfortunately, IMO, have little to do with the plane. At least that's the way the deal seems to be unfolding if you look at the media coverage here in Sweden.
@carllundstrom However the current situation is like this. Technically, the Gripen would be a better and safer choice. The Military stab has realized this, but the current president, Lula, prefers the Rafalé and declared to Sarkozy that the deal was pretty much done. The military stab explained thoroughly that the deal wasn't certain and that the whole deal was leaning towards SAAB and the Gripen NG. It's cheaper, gives 100 000 new jobs in Brazil, performs excellent and is super safe.
@carllundstrom so the whole deal depends on what the next president, president Dilma, decides and makes up with Lula. She's been pretty neutral in the question but apparently the military Air Force stab really likes here, so who knows?
best frensh plane, and maybe world best to :)

Well, long before the midst of the program, if I remember well Dassault and France got out of Eurofighter program not so long after it's beginning.
