I totally agree with this guy. I was born in South Africa then moved to Scotland with my folks when I was 3. Then when I was 12, we moved back to SA then moved back to UK. My brother still lives in South Africa. He has lost lots of friends to muggings, car jackings etc.. He is a prisoner in his own home, with electrified fences, guard dogs, burgler bars on the window etc. It's no way to live. In this area, less than 1 percent Black, 94 percent White, the rest, Asian, etc. No fences, no barb wire. Very few robberies. One house was robbed on my street in 1981. No grafitti. You can walk or go running at night. People leave windows open if it's not too hot. Things are basically safe. But if you break into someone's house, you might get shot by the owner. So don't do it!

In Estonia if you have robber in your house, if he/she doesnt attack you can only call cops, even if robber attacks you you have to do warning shot first then you can actually shoot him/her. If robber has knife you cant shoot them unless robber has injured you first, then you can kill him/her. If robber just attacks you with bare arms you are fked, even you do warning shot and then shoot him/her it is still misuse of power.

Your statement regarding Texas is untrue. There is however the concept that your house is your castle. Meaning that you have a right to defend your life and your property. If someone breaks in your house, yes you can shoot them dead if you're defending yourself.

Someone enters your property and you can't do a thing. If they get hurt because of something stupid THEY do you get sued. He robs you or attacks you but you can't attack him on the way out. Oh we have stupid laws like that here. But you can't take matters in your own hands depending on the legality allowed in each state. Now I'm pissed.

In Georgia you cant just kill someone that broke in your house unless the person has a weapon or you feel your life is in danger. And if they break there leg breaking into your house then they can sue you. Also on Georgia you cant kill someone thats on your steps they have to be in your house. in canada 'defence' is only aplicable if it is defence. for example if a man breaks in unarmed and rushes to me and i shoot him in the head as suposed to the leg then it my fault and it is murder. but also if were both unarmed and i was beating him then thats also assult. makes sense to me you can only defend to a point.
that being said africas crime rate is much higher then canadas, as a result its hard for me to have an opinon on this as im not familiar with african law.

I totally agree with this guy. I was born in South Africa then moved to Scotland with my folks when I was 3. Then when I was 12, we moved back to SA then moved back to UK. My brother still lives in South Africa. He has lost lots of friends to muggings, car jackings etc.. He is a prisoner in his own home, with electrified fences, guard dogs, burgler bars on the window etc. It's no way to live. We are so lucky living in the UK but are so complacent about how it is in other countries.

good point you brought up about Texas renaldo. That's one of the reasons I'm moving to Florida from NY, in NY you can go to jail if you shoot someone for breaking into your home, but in Florida you can smoke their ass.

guard dogs get poisoned,u buy more dogs,they steal more poison to use on the dogs,,try electric fencing,,nope,there's also regular powercuts for that,,there is absolutely no law that favours the taxpayer,if they do find new ways to protect themselves,the ANC will make a new law to make that illegal aswell.

Reindeer, that is absolutely horrendous. I do not myself own a gun. However, if I did, and if someone broke in my house, I would have no problem blowing their head off. In my opinion, it's quite evident that it's self defense. Someone has broken in your house, case closed. They're not there to have a prayer meeting. Whatever happened to common sense?

Yeah well thats how it is in most of the american states. It is important to be able to defend yourself, but the idea here is to avoid people from making mistakes. Texas has a lot of crazy right-wing gun nuts, and their crime rate isnt necessarily super low. Its true that there is a very high murder rate as well, but that doesnt necessarily mean it is because people are trying to adhere to the state's self-defense laws

i gotta say that law really sucks, in ireland we have far more flexibale self defence laws, an example being your aloud to injure the shit out of someone attacking you etc, just as long as u dont kill them, eg you can shoot them in the legs with a shotgun, or beat them within an inch of their lives, but if u kill them, then u could be facing jail time

I sympathise completely. Dont want to aggitate matters further but I would seek out 3rd party gun dealers and try to cut the middle m an out. The crime statistics in S.Africa are truely horrific and the problem is S.Africans shouldnt have to be a statistic.

USA Man Here. People should be able to defend themselves. I live in the suburbs outside a major US city. In this area, less than 1 percent Black, 94 percent White, the rest, Asian, etc. No fences, no barb wire. Very few robberies. One house was robbed on my street in 1981. No grafitti. You can walk or go running at night. People leave windows open if it's not too hot. Things are basically safe. But if you break into someone's house, you might get shot by the owner. So don't do it!
