I have a question regarding the term "Buddha" as used in this video posting and elsewhere. When Sister D uses expressions like "the Buddha in the bell" and "the Buddha within" what does she mean precisely? It sometimes seems to me that Buddhists often ascribe to Buddha some of the attributes of God, such as omniscience (in some texts the Buddha is described as omniscient) and omnipresence. Buddhism is atheistic (Nagarjuna has arguments against God's existence) but is it really? What do'ya think?
@bayreuth79 Buddah is the enlightened one. And Buddah is possible in everyone. The Buddah is you, me and anyone else who becomes enlightened. And to follow the Buddah is to follow the path that leads to enlightenment. The first Buddah pointed the way, and never said he was the way. If you follow the path, you may also achieve enlightenment or Buddah, or catch glimpses of enlightenment, or Buddah.
@bayreuth79 yes from what I've learnt about it, we all have the capacity to be Buddha, the enlightened ones. The first Buddha, found a way to enlightenment and then showed others. That's how it all started.
I had the chance to meet her when I was living in San Diego and all I can say is she is a wonderful and delightful lady. She helped me get through a difficult time when I was living in America as most American's don't accept American's like me as being Buddhists. I now live in Japan and continue to practice Buddhism.
Absolutely beautiful video, I just loved listening to Sister Dang Nhiem and watching her talk, her smile is infectious :-) Be Well, Be Safe, Be Happy _/|\_
The world is a better place for all when we practice mindfulness. The "breathing" bell is good, and also we can have other "bells" to stay "awake" such as children making noise, or wind thru pines...
Thank you sister. You have made an incredible journey just as many of your sisters and brothers have. I have been blessed to meet some of them as well as Thay.
Thank you so much Sister D, this is wonderful. Could you please give an instruction on using the ten bells as there is often confusion on correct usage of this.
Thank you, for sharing this wonderful video! Parallax Press is very pleased to have published the exceptional life story of Sister Dang Nghiem, titled: Healing, A Woman's Journey from Doctor to Nun, (ISBN: 978-1-888375-96-1).
Wonderful expression of Sr. D's, as well as the other monks and nuns, deep aspiration to help all beings awaken. Deer Park imagery edited creatively brings me back to my true home.
Thank you so much for this beautiful video. Sister D's warmth really shines through. Breathing in I feel grateful, breathing out, I am sending my love to Sister D.
gratefulness.
