I just wanted to say that I was looking for some motivation and your videos kind of hit the mark for me. I couldn't agree with you more about your environment and it's influences. I've been self studying Japanese for months and recently finished up RTK at the end of Decemeber, I just needed a little something to get me out of a slump. Thanks for the good words and I wish you luck on all your future learning.
i don't know, but you may have got some influence on open mindedness and language loving before meeting your new friends. If you didn't meet them, you may have met probably other people within the high school who had similar traits to enable open mindedness or anything like that.
It's like what Voltaire said, if one man doesn't invent some invention, another person may invent it.
Like if all game consoles today didn't exist, we'd completely have another game console very similar to todays.
I know how easy it is to be victimized by a negative environment as well and you have to know how to gauge what you'd find there and not feed into energy that takes you to weird places . Surround yourself with positive people and stay open and honest. Great video.
laushu505000 is an example of a Black person that evolved into a better human. The majority of his people, unfortunately, will find it difficult to reach this level.
:) Great video. Very powerful testimony!! I have to say I admire your goals such as influencing the world but first starting within our own communities, I think that's the only way we will start seeing change and peace. Thanks for sharing. Blessings!
The bit about "Power Sessions" was so cool. When I was at school I felt powerLESS pretty much all the time. Teachers were saying do this, do that, if you don't learn this you're in trouble. I didn't do any homework for a teacher for a while and he said "What are you gonna do when you're older? Hang around prison all the time?". There was almost no positive talk at all.
A few years after school I was in a library and saw the language programs. Nowadays you can't stop me from learning stuff!
Thanks for the video... I too am multilingual, and learning languages got me out the projects (Lamokin Village Projects, Chester, PA.)... I hated my enviornment from day 1. My only escape was to sit in front of the television, watch the Spanish channels (without understanding a word), close my eyes and pretend I was there......I've been living in Latin American now for 13 yrs. straight.....I made it!!! Give thanx for the inspiration Moses, and Jah bless you.
@Codylangaugesblog You're right man. People constantly say stuff like ''You can't let music control you'' but in reality, that stuff hits the subconscious hard! and you may not even be aware of it
Your story and progression are great. Why does listening to hip hop make you open minded though? Seems a relatively cool and 'urban' genre of music. I'd be more impressed if you listened to classical for example. Learning languages, brilliant again. Reading serious works of philosophy would surely be more beneficial in terms of expanding your mind?
man i like how you think and, thats a really good story. i actually just went through that on my way home listing to metal. after having an open minded conversation, and noticed how horrible the music can be haha. man you ever want to chat open minded send me a message. douglasc_8@hotmail.com.
Very nice video, actually music you listen plays big role in your life, similar thing happened to me, few years ago i only listened metal, and metal mostly concentrate on negative aspects of life, so i lived quite unhappy life and was pretty close minded, but then one day i decided to listen some other genres of music and i accidentally found artist called Dub FX after that period my life took a huge turn to positive. And i can say that now im happier and certainly more open minded than before.
Moses, I am glad that you met those guys. That is such a cool story. I could totally relate to what you were saying. I hate to think where I would have wound up had I not met the right people. God bless you, brother.
the first year i took french i hated it and was only going through the motions like everyone else. when i heard french hip hop for the first time like MC solaar and NTM there was like a spark of interest and i think hip hop was a strong influence with my starting to love languages. school courses are just boring.
Hey if you like different things check out Bad Religion. Every single song has a deep meaning to it. You seem like a really good guy man. I've become a lot more open minded myself. I saw a few of your videos and I agree with you that there is a conflict created to divide and seperate everyone.

Wow, it is SO refreshing to find someone like me, whom is so very passionate about learning languages. I'm in a uni-lingual home and have always been passionate about learning languages. I hope to learn as much as you one day. :D
I have the utmost respect for people who go against the grain and make the decision to broaden their mind. it's all too easy to shudder at the thought of life long learning but the rewards are worth it.
I actually got a little bit touched by this video because I could clearly see that you were really speaking from your heart. Thanks for sharing your story with us.
This was very kind of you to let us know more about your background and your own motivation. You are indeed a living proof and a good example of what "getting out of the box" may conduct. This definitely worths the effort. Thanks indeed.
Thanks for sharing your story Moses; it's a great story. I think it's great that those guys came into your life and that you were willing to learn from them.
ur nto the3 only one, man. I study / learn languages for fun, I do it bcause i enjoy it. Currently, I can understand some written, Arabic (not much the spoken), Russian, Portuguese (native language) and English. I learned katakana and hiragana, i know the cyrillic alphabet and I wanna learn the Hindi alphabet, do you think u can help me on that? On learnind the hindi alphabet?
Sure. I've actually made a video on the Hindi alphabet. Go to my playlist and look for the ''Hindi'' playlist. There should be several videos there on the alphabet.
those power sessions are where its at! inspiration comes in many different forms. they are cool guys, and im happy to have you all in my circle. hopefully we will continue to motivate each other and change the game.
Imagining your background as a child you have made an impressive development and you can be proud of it. You have been very lucky to meet other people early in life who really inspired you to get the taste of learning. My famliy background is completely different, but in a different way I had to fight against many obstacles. At least I was interested in learning allready as a small child, but I didn't know about my language talent. Fasulye
I went through a vaguely similar developmental progression. I'm so open minded that my brain is so open minded so that it doesn't fall out of my head. :)
Saul Williams, Wu Tang Clan, love all those!
I also love languages, but I know far less languages, probably only 6 total. Estonian (first). English (second). Russian (third). German (fourth). Latin (fifth) . Spanish (sixth). Norwegian (seventh). Latin is the only self-taught language so far. But I'm fluent only at English and Estonian.
Awesome story, man. I think it was with music that I started developing a more open mind. The first music I got into was actually Final Fantasy soundtracks and then to classical stuff, and from there to death metal and black metal, electronica, blues, folk music, you name it. There's just too much good stuff to be restricted to one or two genres!
It's also one of the reasons I'm so glad I learned German....it opened up a whole world of music I would otherwise never have known about.
haha i started listening to jeru the damaja, canibus, blu and exile and all that stuff when i was 15. it really did change the way i looked at things and now that im 18 i listen to all kinds of music plus music in different languages hahaha =PP. other influences made me to become very interested in other cultures and languages and now im even learning them, and its fun0.o id never thought id be learning something and having fun at the same time =P

It's odd because when you grow up in a bad environment, you never really think it's bad until you experience something good.

Illuminati (according to some sources) use "images" and "sounds" to move you in a certain way.
If you think about it, you can brainwash someone REALLY easy if you use "images" and "sounds" to get your point across.

There have been many studies that show how music directly effects behavior.
You have to be very careful what music you choose to listen to, like what friends you choose to surround yourself with.

I truely believe that learning langauges are the means for transferring and preserving knowledge. So they are a means to an end.
So I am wondering. After learning a language of a poeple or nation , do you start to appreciate the culture, and their heritage?
or may be even learn about their wisdom?
I think this is the next stage after learning the " words".
or is it just a hobby with no real end?
Salam, Peace
SuperOpenminded 2 years ago 2
If you can read more than one language then that means that you can get to the point where you can try to understand what other people are saying.
You can get more than one version of the events that unfold in the world around you, and then you can make your own mind about it.
Beats not doing it, imho.
