  • wow! I wish I had a square pan!

    The tamagoyaki loooks great~

  • Hi Runny! Your #1 fan here thanking you for all your winning recipes. You always say you dont do such a good job, but they ALWAYS turn out gorgeous! Even your camera work is so professional. Is it too personal if I ask what your real profession is? And also, have you ever been to America? If not, please do, you would be the biggest hit here............and lastly, your eyes are so beautiful :)

  • CHARIZARD!

  • 卵焼きは手前から向こうに転がすと綺麗にいきますよー(*´ω`)

  • My mom taught me to add some corn starch into the mixture, though I don't really know what difference it will make. May be it can harden the egg sheet?

  • @MochiRabi: Wow, that sounds like a good idea. Adding some kind of starch (e.g. flour or cornstarch) to beaten egg is how they usually make French crepes or Chinese spring roll wrappings -- you end up with a sheet that you can play around with like fine tissue paper. But in the case of tamagoyaki...maybe just a bit of cornstarch is needed? That way it'll still feel like eating scrambled eggs (instead of pancakes).

  • I made one today with Pink Oyster Mushrooms...It was yummyyummy999 ^_^

  • I tried this, and I am never eating my eggs any other way again!

  • Hey Runny, today I made it for breakfest with rice bowl and some other side dishes and it was delicious! Thanks for the video <3

  • Runny, you are so sweet! ;-)

  • I'm really bad at cooking, and I'll probably never try this, but I just love watching your videoes ... Is that wierd? >.<

  • You made me hungry!!

  • I put baby spinach in mine. I chiffonade chopped them to make it easier to roll the omelette.

  • My girlfriend just made this for us, following your instructions. All she did was replace the sugar with a sugar substitute (sucralose). I absolutely LOVE IT! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with us!

  • @ThechemistNL

    ^_^

  • @runnyrunny999 how nice of you to reply to my boyfriend ^_^ thank you very much for all the help!! :D

  • @namaisa

    ^_^

  • thank you, runny! i made this and it was delicious! i was surprised by how easy it was to roll it up, i was expecting it to be much harder :3

  • Yum ;D

  • I've been really wanting to make this but I was sure I would mess it up completly but it was actually not that hard and it tastes so good!! I ate the whole thing by myself in one sitting and I'm really small and normally a very light eater. Thats how good it was!

  • @habutai

Thanks for trying and I'm glad you liked it :)

  • Even if i used psychokinesis to fold that thing up, it would still break and become something horrible worth of destruction.

  • I made this with spinach, tamato and cheese in the middle, seasoned with bay leaves and garlic. I dipped it in spicy mustard with ketchup. Sooooo yummmmy!

  • hi! what does "yaki" mean? it appears in many recipe names.

  • @CounterInMyKitchen it means "fried" :)

  • @CounterInMyKitchen It basically means food cooked yaki-style.(yakimono, grilled or fried)

  • Okay just watched the video. INSTANTLY SUBSCRIBED.

  • WHY HAVE I NOT COME ACROSS YOUR CHANNEL UNTIL NOW T_T

  • oooooo like

  • i did this the other day but with a twist: i beat the eggs separately and added a different main part to each third! the first had red peppers, the second had spinach and the third had cheeses....when i sliced it i was shocked to see a swirled Italian flag! thank you so much for this video!! :)

  • lol you have a song now haha

  • what if i dont have rectangle pan? o.o

  • @PinkyBerry66 just roll the omelette up ;P if you have a maki-su (sushi mat) you can lay your end product on the mat and sort of just mold it to a rectangular or circle shape. (making sure that youre omelette's not overcooked so it can rest and set well in the mold!)

  • You always make me happy.

  • watch you fail? You're folding like a pro with those chopsticks >.<

  • This is awesome! Thank you for this!!

  • I added some chopped bacon (already cooked) and a little less sugar. I got one bite before my brother and mother stole the plate. Thank you, Runny! ~<3

  • hey how can i order?

  • Look like pancakes...

  • you know you are cute~* don't you?! :)

  • How old are you? You are the most adorable chef ever! XD

  • This should help me a lot, thank you! I'm trying to learn how to make simple things like this for bentos and all that since I'm going to visit my dad soon and to cook for my boyfriend. Your videos are very easy to follow for me, so once again thank you! XD

  • He cooks so much better than my mom T-T

  • I like it with nori and onion inside. ;q

  • I made it...I ate it...it was good....but a little burnt...

  • bestable oil :p

  • So basically it´s an endless Omelette which can be made as thick as you like. Will try tomorrow for breakfast (i am quite the pancake fan, so this shouldn´t be any problem for me ;P) So, what would you recommend would go with this? Is this a main or more of a side dish ?

  • I seriously enjoy your videos Runny! You are such a humble spirit :)! And your meals always look delicious <3!

  • HAHA "You can watch me fail" *2 Seconds Later "See, I failed" That made my day XD Tamagoyaki is hard to make, I failed twice when I first made it, but after you know what to use to flip the omelette it becomes easier :P

  • @sotoalloftheworld

    自分は子供のころに出会ったおにぎりの妖怪しか信じません。。。

  • I was wondering how to make that!!! :D Thanks, Taro!

  • Wow..talk about chopstick action! Love it!

Just a pity you didn't do your famous taste testing at the end. I'm sure lots of people love that bit including myself :)

    Much love from Australia!

  • @MsCat3333 Haha at least it will be in the next video tho - as he said in the info box~

Interesting to run into another comment from Australia :)

  • i just made this after watching this video and it was delicious!!!

  • Thank you for the video.

  • Just curious, did you sing your theme song ?

  • Love your videos! I've tried the Sugar variety of Tamagoyaki when I couldn't get any Mirin, it's close, but I think Mirin has a distinct flavor for Tamago. ^_^ Both very good! Another substitution, I heard, was to use brandy and sugar.

  • can you make a form of pastry

  • i put my stove on low heat when im making tamagoyaki and it turns out perfectly yellow! and i use a round skillet

    and runny i think u cudve beat the eggs better.......^ ^;;

  • i love your videos :D i just wish i had a square pan i know it doesn't matter but they make it so much easier

  • nice one!

  • i remember "cookingwithdog" making this dish!i think you did very well,runnyrunny999!i love making omlettes, but it seems that the 1st omlette i always break a bit (and have to hide the torn part under the roll of egg!)they still taste good, but maybe if you try making more than one at a time, you will find you do better?

  • still a good job, language-wise. as an esl tutor here in the US i think your use of grammatic syntax is quite good and has been improving w/each video.

  • good job speaking English! I know learning a new language is hard I just know a few Japanese words from anime. yamete baka! haha

  • I love the fact that you thought it was necessary to apologize for not doing a collaboration video! It OK, as long as you keep doing videos and making good food, we will always be happy. Good job runny

  • ともごやきわたいへんだした。。。じょぞうじゃありますえん:(。

  • hi runnyrunny999! Could you share what you use to put oil in the frying pan? It looks like a paper towel but idk! I've always wondered what that was ^-^' thx

  • I remove that from the eggs too :D It's so gross to bite into it;;

  • great job its a nice tamago yaki dont worry a bout it

  • He's right you dont need skill im 14 and i made it on my first try

  • Lol when he said clip I thought he said crepe.

  • I tried This recipe this morning, came back to say, Tamagoyakiwa Umai Desu, Domo arigatou for the recipe. Was getting bored of the same routine food. Runnyrunny999 really reminds me of this cousin i have who also had this humble feeling to him.

  • It's easier to fold the eggs with a spatula.

I call this sweet fried eggs. By th way I don't use dashi stock. Instead I use mirin..

By the way there are absolutely no square pans out here, and last time I wanted to order one from Japan they were out of stock XD

  • You have a very endearing humble personality. That's part of the reason why I'm such a big fan..

  • You are too cute!! This looks amazing yet very simple, and you've got more talent in the kitchen than I could ever even wish for. <3

  • Why do you have to remove that little bit of egg?

  • @MiClLC: That I would also like to know.

  • that was friggen awesome

  • this guy its so fucking great..nobody hates you... you have no trolls......XD well not to much only 6 of them... i love you dude and not in a gay way...!! i wish some day a can cook like you......

  • I need to get me a square pan! I'm so going to try this! Always wanted to know how this is done. Awesomness!

  • anyone have a website where i can get a pan like that?

    ;)

  • @runnyrunny999 One way or the other, あなたはすごいね!

I might not be japanese, but I'll work hard to go there some day :B

my eggs are overcooked scrambled eggs and will sadly stay that way cause i cant cook at all...

  • Good video! :)

  • Thank you for the video :) and by the way, your pronounciation is kind of cute, so... don't worry about it n_n

  • runny-san, ur a good enough cook :) sometimes people dont need something fancy to be satisfied; just something simply and feels like home will do:)

  • first recipe for which i have all the ingridents!!!yipee

  • やっぱり"。。。"が好きだわ〜wここに来るといつもそういう系のシーンばかり見ちゃうw i totally agree that you are awesome!!!

  • @runnyrunny999 you are an awesome person. just thought you should know

  • Does anyone know where in Canada I would be likely to find a pan like that (I've always wanted one) or a Canadian online store that would carry it?

  • Little tips:

*Pop the air bubbles gently with your chopsticks - that way you can lift the egg sheet off the pan easier.

*Before cooking, heat the pan with high heat for a minute or so, then reduce the flame to the point where it doesn't come out from the bottom of the pan - you can't make nice and juicy tamagoyaki if the heat is too low :-)

Thanks for the video, Runny-san - tamagoyaki sure is a lot of fun to make!

  • 再びすみません。

    リクエストビデオってどうやっておくれるのですか?^^

  • Runny is so adorable

  • Hi,

I am a big fan of your cooking and I did try a lot of recipes which received great comments from my kids who also love Japanese food. I just have a question. What is the best substitute for Saki (I know it is not in this video). Thanks

  • haha XD "me dont have skill" "i even break the egg sheet.. see"

    n u did verry great ^_______^

  • just tried it. turned out pretty nice ^^. I though it was gonna be really hard.

thanks for the video runnyrunny =)

  • One of my fav food ^o^. I usually make it for nigiri-sushi. Yummy. And btw, using spatula is much more easier for rolling the egg than using chopsticks :p
