im so confused..i always here teachers tell you not to wind up but then i see really talented dancers wind up and hit 5 or 6 pirouettes ...wtf?

yes, ur not supposed to wind up, but i think to get the momentum u need to do 6 turns, especially on pointe, u need to wind up a bit.

@Ballerinabbz Hi, I know I'm like two years late answering you, but there's three s' that will help you (and yes, I came up with them :D)

Spin- Push off and start to turn

Spot- Spot your head to one location in front of you. *VERY* important to get multiples.

Stop- Land the turn, don't fall out of it.

If you can master these, you'll have them down :D

LOL, shows what you know - Alys just placed 2nd at the 2009 Moscow International Competition in the Junior category even though only 14, wiping out hundreds of the top under 16 talent from all over the world. I will go with the judges rather then your armchair critique. Even though this is just a practice video, in competition and on stage, she has what it takes. Wow!

once again.... people like her are hardly human. she probably does ballet all day every day to get where she is. YES WE ALL WISH WE WERE AS GOOD AS HER, but normal people just arent perfect like that. your lucky you can do three so accept it and be thankful!

me too!! im 11 years old and my ballet teacher told us most of the time the block between two and three pirouettes is you mind.. if you believe your gonna shoot for 5.. then you most likely end up doing 3
