  • I'm about to get a new disposal but so far i haven't seen any videos where the discharge outlet is in a different location. My tube goes straight in but knowing my luck, the new outlet will be one inch higher or lower than the existing setup. Is there a flexible attachment like the dishwasher or sink hoses?

  • Great Video! This really helped me replacing my old one!! THX

  • This video was great! I replaced my disposal all by myself (I'm a girl who knows little to nothing about home repair). THANK YOU!

  • Extremely helpful for us Noobs! :)

  • Wow!! I am so thankful for this video!!

  • Great video! Very HELPFUL!!

  • I've been online for over a decade and I can still say without hesitation, the internet is awesome.

  • Very good and ver helpful, thank you

  • Thanks, I replaced mine and you really helped a lot.

  • If I could, I wouldn't buy this guy a beer...I would buy him a six pack!! I just removed and replaced my garbage disposal with this video! Wayyyyyyyyyy better than the directions that came with my new one! Thank you!! Thank you!!

  • very helpful!! I'm not great at this stuff - got mine in and running with no problems. Actual guy at Home Depot was money. you can do this.

  • Youtube ftw!

  • great video, I was thinking of calling a guy to do it for me and saw this video over and over couple of times and did it myself. Very very helpful!!!! Thank you very much!!

  • This video saved me a $95 installation fee from the "big box" store; if you can set aside about an hour (if that), then you should DEFINITELY do your own disposal replacement. Watch the video twice, install the disposal once!

  • VERY helpful... I did it while my husband was at work :)

  • Very good video, helped a lot! Thank you VERY much!

  • Great great video! This really helped me changing my broken garbage disposal! Thanks!

  • Thanks for the video, it was very helpful and one of the easier repairs I've done around the house.

  • Video helped us get the new unit installed. Only thing was ours didn't have black or white wires. Both were grey. If anyone runs into this...one side of the cord is ribbed to indicate white and the other side smooth, to indicate black.

Replaced Waste King piece of crap with a new Insinkerator Evolution. Wow, to think I put up with that noise. The new one is super quiet.

  • What the hell is that on the window behind him? LOL

  • Thanks for the video. But phonebooks? When was this video made? ;)

  • Don't know where you live but where I live we get phone books from 3 different publishers. Then they all send miniature versions that have just the business listings. We have plenty of phonebooks and I'm glad there's a good use for them beyond throwing them immediately into the recycling bin.

  • thank you. This is what i needed.

  • My husband is currently deployed. I knew it would save money if I did this myself and this video was so helpful... thank you.

  • Very helpful! Saved me a lot of money rather than hiring someone to to it for me!

  • don't americans use a thing called a BIN ? i guess they are jus too lazy to rinse food off a plate before washing them in a sink, i understand it can be quite a distance walking from one side of the kitchen to another seeing as most of americans are obese.

  • @dezmika

    Touchee!

  • @dezmika Hmm, anti-American generalizations about laziness on an American How-to video...that's a new one! I guess where you're from laziness and obesity doesn't exist...just stupidity. Do they have indoor toilets where you live, yet?

  • We obviously don't have toilets in england, but we also don't have garbage food disposals as the majority of us arn't obese.

  • @dezmika...and it's all due to a lack of modern technology! Join the 20th, er, 21st century, already. Your sarcasm needs work. Judging by your looks, I'd say you owe your weight loss to masturbation, not a trip to the bin ;p Get a girlfriend (or a boyfriend, considering you're a brit).

  • @willfulsprite is it cos im black

  • @dezmika nah, just an ignorant racist bigot.

  • @willfulsprite just because im black means im ignorant, good one.

  • @dezmika no, you're ignorant because of your stupidity.

  • @dezmika You're incredible! Obviously, the problem is not one of nationality, but instead, of ignorance. Garbage disposals have nothing to do with laziness; instead, they are a tool used to decrease the amount of waste in landfills, which I'm sure is a problem everywhere. Also, when I was in Britain, I was amazed by the number of obese people I saw, so I don't think being overweight is a strictly American issue. Finally, it's aren't, not arn't. Isn't English your native language?

  • @quicklypistol typos have nothing to do with language, its to do with spelling/grammar. Americans are fat and lazy, deal with it. ^_^

  • Thank You very much...not only did this video show you step by step...but I thought I could do it with out watching the whole video. I installed it, checked for leaks and even chewed some old garbage. It wasn't until I was all done and cleaned up that I watched the end of the video and it said don't forget to punch out the plug for the dishwasher. My wife would have been really pissed in the morning when the floor would have been soaked. AWESOME!!

  • thanks

  • what a thourough vdo good job thanks

  • I haven't been able to find ANY help in removing my OLD disposer until this video. Home Depot has continually impressed my wife and I with their high level of service and knowledge. Kudos and Thank you!

  • this guy says flange like 1000 times haha...

  • @corizojoe FLANGE/ DISPOSER FLANGE/DISPOSER 1001...1002

  • YAY for Home Depot! Just like the service at the store, this video is clear, concise and easy to understand. I was so intimidate to do this myself until I watched the video. I completed the project in less than an hour .. and with no leaks!!!

  • You need to use more plumbers putty on the top side or it will leak also you forgot the rubber washer below and only used the paper friction washer. It will leak without it.

  • I had to figure out how to take my disposal out. This video answered all my questions. It was great. Thanks!

  • The video helped me out a lot! Watched a couple of times and then got to work. Took me about an hour to replace my disposal and it went off without a hitch. Guess I got lucky. Plus, I still have all of my fingers! Thank H.D.!

  • Fantastic video. Great job of step by step instructions. Be sure that if you have a electrical plug that you remove it during the wiring portion. They don't really address the plug, but it's the same process. Very well done. Installed disposal on the first try, which is rare for me.

  • Would have been nice to know that you have to ask for a power cord if you dont want to wire it yourself. I had to use my old power cord.

  • This absolutely is one of the best reasons YouTube is important. Not to mention the importance of Home Depot. Thank you, thank you. I watched this before I went to Home Depot - the salesman at Home Depot was super nice and supportive and I came home and installed the disposal. And yep - I'm a woman. And very proud of this accomplishment. The video took the mystery out of "how to." Thanks!

  • @hyphenpro Are you married? If not, good for you for installing the disposal. If you're married to a man, please know that men need to feel needed and that jobs like this can make a guys day. Let us do it for you even if you can do it yourself!

  • @hyphenpro

    I totally agree.

  • thank you so much!!! I couldn't figure out how to get the flange and rings off my old sink but thanks to you, EASY AS PIE!!! and i'm a woman who also just has replaced lightbulbs and that's about it. thanks to u tube I'm a real live do it yourselfer!!!!! AWESOME!

  • I am a woman whose DIY skills consist of changing a light bulb. Can I do this? I want to replace my Badger 5 (which isnt working) with the exact same model. Looks like I might not even need to remove the mounting hardware.

  • Awsome video, it helped me to replace my disposer in no time. One tip, the unit doesn't come with the plumbers putty so make sure to get some at home depot or have some good silione at home.

  • Excellent video. It helped me install my new food disposer.

  • Super helpful! Many thanks, because it was just what I needed.

  • Thank you Home Depot!! This is excactly what I needed. The Badger one I have is too too loud so upgrading it

  • Good thing I saw this, I almost forgot to remove the dishwasher plug.

  • Nice work ..

  • excellent info
