I like to add mint leaves to my Caipirinha for a variation.

no it is not true that Cachaça is 3x stronger than vodka. they both are usually the same i.e. 40% alcohol, which is standard also for most spirits such as gin, vodka, tequila, whisky, scotch, and rum. you can definitely buy cachaça by the bottle - that's how it's sold (just like a bottle of vodka or tequila)

I tried to make it with 51 Cachaça but it's too strong, what can I do? use more ice? Also, I used the sugar that comes from a bottle.

@FireOfEire Use superfine sugar, if it's too strong use more sugar, sugar minimize the alcohol taste... (anyway, If you're using a bigger glass, try use a entire lemon, in the video the girl do it in a tiny one...) 51 is a good cachaça, but it is strong (and really cheap here in brazil), those premium chaçacas are weaker (more time in barrels, and stuff like this... I do prefer the cheap ones :D)

@FireOfEire cachaça 51 is the worst cachaça, you should try leblon, because in the "51" contains a product that makes it stronger than others cachaças!!! I'm from brazil, the best for Caipirinhas is Leblon and Sagatiba!

So, the right way to do a capirinha is removing the white middle section of the lemon, and cutting it in cubes. Then only stir after put the ice. You do not use a shaker.

I've made this recipe before, and it's great. The only way to improve on it (for me) would be to use demerara or turbinado sugar instead of superfine, but it's amazing as-is.

For the video to have been even more professional you should have recorded even closer. The face, the objects must fill the screen. Also the voice was too clear. You could have used another more sensual type of voice. Her voice was to girly. and not so sensual. Try re-doing it with my tips and post it again! Besides it, it's very good. Guys, I'm Brazilian n a caipirinha lover. And what everyone is saying is true:

- white refined sugar always!

( I tried myself with brown and raw sugar and doesn't taste that nice, coz these sugars have strong taste n overtake the lime n cachaça flavors)

- lime, always!

- remove the white part from the middle of the wedges n try to mash only the inside part not to take the sour taste from it's skin!

- last but not least: enjoy!
