Too bad the Yamato would have been met with all 4 Iowa class USN Battleship, plus a few SoDak (South Dakota) and North Carolina class USN Battleships

As tough as the IJN Yamato was, even he couldn't take 4 Iowas with their 16"/50, 0r 406cm/50 and 4 SoDak/North Carolinas with their 16"/45, and lived long past the first salvo of 72 shells coming in as plunging fire and guided by the Mark 13 FCS and Radar of those classes

@sol3a1 Actually it would not have taken that many US battle ships only one would have been enough any of the New Jersey class would have been able to stand with the Yamato. Its main failing is it was never deployed correctly after it was christened and the world will never know how that battle would come out since the Yamato fell to Air power which replaced the Battleship as the primary weapon of the sea.

好意的に考えれば、一門づつ射撃したのではないでしょうか。

ただその場合、初弾の弾着を確認してから、後発を射撃する決まり­だったはずですが・・・。

あと、この動画に当てはまる事例ではないですが、日本海軍の大型­艦の主砲には、遅延発射装置があって、コンマ数秒遅れで射撃する­機構はあったようです。

@Icedude91 The Battle of Suraigo Straight was Admiral Jesse Olandorf's Pearl Harbor Battleships which wiped out the Southern Force in Suraigo Straight which was trying to come from the South and join Yamato's group.

What we see in this clip is the Battle off Samar against Adm. Clifton Sprauge's Taffy III.

If Kurita would have pressed the attack in Leyte Gulf, he, with the Yamato's guns, could have wiped out the rest of the US CVEs and DDs and DEs, despite their losses, and could have done some serious damage to MacArthur's trrops who were still in transport ships. Yes, Kurita had serious bad luck, losing the Mushashi en route, his own CA flagship, and more while fighting the CVEs and their DD escorts, but he didnt realize that Halsey left with all the capital ships to get Ozawa.

umm...If you read your history right, you would know that the Musashi was sunk during the Battle of Leyte Gulf...specifically during the Battle of the Sibuyan Sea air attack segment of that battle.

The Yamato and Musashi were much more advanced battleship designs than Tirpitz/Bismark.

Bismark was, basically, just a large WW1 style battleship. She wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes against Yamato.

lol. it is interesting how chinese whispering makes the Bismarck from using WW1 style armor protection elements (very succesfully, btw, as was shown during Bismarcks last battle), to a WW1 design by itself.

@ss4456 Yamato and Musashi, of course. They have good telemethry too (like the germans) and more biggest ships, armor, guns, etc. Bismarck & Tirpitz are beatiful and powerful ships, but they coudn't resist the power of the Yamato's.

Lol, the Japanese made one big ship....lolz. But something odd I noticed, in the real battle. The Japanese only took down 3-4 aircraft, and there were no Japanese aircraft present at all. And the US carriers and battle fleet launched aircraft from over 300 miles away. FAR beyond visual range....
