  • Thank you for your service, screw everyone that tells you anything else. This should be the only thing they say. You are the one that was willing to risk your own life so they can have the stinking right to tell you that you are a bad person going to hell and is unnatural. It's bullshit...I support you!

  • DADT has been repealed will you re-enlist?

  • Glad people can now be open about who they are vimeo dot com /rolanda

  • :/

  • What a bummer. Now that it's repealed I hope you can get back in. But I know they probably won't. Bureaucratic policy sucks!

  • I used to support DADT until someone told me about people like you. Then I started speaking out against that horrible law, making some of my so called friends angry. I will never support that law again. As a Christian I believe that all people are precious in God's eyes. God bless you, and may you go far in your career. Hoorah.

  • Sorry to hear that you were made victim of our manic country. I love America, but rights for gays has to be the most recent example of just how far off our path we've gone wit ideals of freedom.

  • DADT has been repealed now, so you may try getting enlisted again if u still wanna be a sailor.

  • Wait they take u out from beeing a soldier because you are gay? Sorry english not so good sorry for you bets of luck, remember some sides world some other gay get killed

  • Well buddy, best advice as I can give you is file and appeal since the rules have changed you may have grounds to turn your discharge into an honorable one. Aside from that wrong place wrong time in regards to your discharge.

  • "for being gay.... (pause)" .... were you waiting for our reaction ? :D

  • okay... i don't get what being gay has to do with fighting for your country? i mean we vote, we live everyday, go to church, we save kids from fires, we teach kids.. what's wrong with fighting for your country?

  • thank you for this... what were those photos of...lol

  • Check out the video Don't Ask Don't Tell by @GoldiloXmusic. It is a great song and it addresses the problem

  • Check out the video Don't Ask Don't Tell by Goldilox. It is a great song, addressing the problem

  • you'll aways be more brave than most men, regardless of orientation. thank you for your service.

  • I do not know why gays want to be in the military. Being part of an institution that kills other human beings

  • One oversight (taking your phone into a prohibited area...and who couldn't inadvertently do that, hell our cell phones are almost an attachment of our bodies these days). I served 20 years, and by the end many knew or believed I was likely gay...they didn't care as I was a "good" commander in their eyes....

  • Sweetheart I am SOooooooo Sorry for this which I feel is an affront to any sensible person with ANY trace of a heart! I am probably old enough to be your Gramma at 54 years old and I find this action absolutely appalling! The love of my life was killed before you were born in service to Our country (His, Mine AND Yours!) He died for the Freedom of ALL of us! NOT just the one's that fit into our preconcieved notion of what we are comfortable with! He died for Me! He died for YOU! God bless you!

  • @jnv53 Wow! What a beautiful comment from such a beautiful person. You sound like an amazing human being. :)

  • Hey, im celebrating on the 20th for you! My girlfriend is in the army right now and us as a lesbian couple are proud of all the other gay troops for taking such big responsability of fighting for our country, AND having to pretend to be someone they are not just to please society. But it's all gonna be over soon. DADT is BS and you all know that. people this is 2011...not 1896. GET OVER IT!

  • @cornbreadjtm I'm so sorry that all happened to you. You're very brave for wanting to serve in the Navy and I highly respect you for doing so, especially in the wake of the whole stupid DADT. This is an important story. Have you tried sending it to the news at all??

  • jerod im so sorry. all i can do is offer the condolence of a countryman and say you are still an american hero to all of us. this is one of many terrible tragedies that goes on in this gr8 country. good luck fighting it. dont forget what ur service truly earns u. the honor of ur country and gratitude of all of us. thank you for your bravery.love from america

  • Im sorry this happened to you. I hope now that DADT is repealed that you can be reinstated if you want that. good luck with anything you do bro!

  • Did they give you a "general" discharge or an "other than honorable" discharge? They gave my ass a "other than honorable" discharge. I did not have a cell phone but I did have a boyfriend on the same boat with me. He held my secret and I held his. However, another sailor saw us together entering a club...off base...off duty....that was known to cater to homosexuals. Soon I was pulled aside and threatened with prison time if I did not tell the truth. I did and my ass was kicked out fast.

  • ty for sharing your story..

  • Glad your ass got kicked out. The law on being gay in the military hasn't changed in nearly 20 years, you condemned yourself when you enlisted, faggot. Next time abide the law and you'll be okay.

  • Every men and women who stands up to defend and to die for his country is a hero. And DADT is telling LGBT soilders, who is serving his/her country, that they have to be ashamed of themselves. Glad Gaga and OBama has repealed it. BTw, can u come back to serve your country?

  • Glad your sodomite ass got kicked out.

  • @bachmann4president WOW Bachman!!! Are you Jealous?! You must have such high "hopes" if you think YOUR ASS would last in the military! In fact, it TAKES BALLS to be serving in it! Something we clearly can see you dont!! You must be GAY YOURSELF with the amount of hatred you have! You might wanna watch your ASS next time you insult someone in person!!!! Saying the shit you do is so cowarding!!! GROW UP!!!! Cornbread has EVERY RIGHT to be upset about it! It's called "Human rights"

  • @bachmann4president Okay...I get it. you don't like gays. But should an employer be able to fire someone because that employer doesn't like who they are having sex with. If both people are consenting adults...who the hell cares. Its between them and their God. If they choose to live that way and take a chance on not being judged by God that's them. If you go to work and do your damn job well...that should be all that matters. Do you feel companies should be able to discriminate based on this?

  • @bachmann4president....Say that sodomy is a sin. Should it cost you a job? Isn't it God's job to punish people for breaking his 10 commandments? The bible says that "sin is the transgression of the law"....And that "the wages of sin is death". So, since God is going to punish anyone who breaks his law...why do you feel the need to prosecute them. Scripture says over & over again to "love your neighbor as yourself". If you were gay for whatever reason...molestation..etc.., should you be fired?

  • @bachmann4president well you are the bastion of enlightenment.

  • mmm baby

  • I support DJDK.

    Don't Join.

    Don't Kill.

  • now that it has been repealed have you returned?????

  • I know that I am very late to this, but I want to say thank you. I'm a gay submarine veteran who voluntarily left the service last summer largely because of DADT - my partner is still in. As you well know, we were not alone in Kings Bay. Most of those that I ran with were Chiefs and a couple of Lieutenants, and even in the midst of Hicksville, that base and the submarine community at large has always been pretty accepting. I hope you do re-enlist as soon as you can, and keep fighting.

  • Please explain, how is allowing open gays to murder and kill in the service of this stinking empire a civil rights victory????

  • @tertommy I'm not for the war sir but I think that as americans you should have respect for the military maybe not for this bullshit war but in knowing that in a seconds notice they did have to fight for your freedoms they would. i let this comment in to tell you that.

  • Thanks for sharing your story, hope everything worked/works out

  • I don't really care that you were gay, you seem like a good guy. However, in all honesty, you slipped up, you knowingly violated rules and regulations and what happened to you is the result of that. Never mind the DADT policy, but having a camera around classified material? You're lucky they didn't give you a dishonorable for that assuming you may have taken and sent classified photos

  • ha ha....i laugh. all this is unnecessary. besides, you make everyone's life a hell of a lot more difficult cause we have to take some stupid sensitivity class so we don't upset you.

  • @killingkarma No one asked for a sensitivity class we just want to be able to serve I would actually take the sensitivity classes as an insult if i were you they don't think people are professional enough to handle it and i know for a fact that people can there were people who knew i was gay and if they gave me a hard time about something i gave them a hard time about something else i can take a joke its the military you have to be able to. but there is a line of respect that can be crossed.

  • @cornbreadjtm agreed. unfortunately they already started implementing this. there are still mixed feelings on DADT. people will be professional to you on duty, but more than likely will continue to talk smack when off and amongst friends. oh well, i wish the best.

  • @killingkarma And that is totally ok all this basically comes down to is that you should be able to do what you want to in your personal life as long as it doesn't hurt other people. and some ones sexual orientation has no bearing on work ethic or on anybody esles life. crack all the jokes you want to with your friends as long as it doesn't affect you work it's ok people are allowed to be as intolerant, ignorant and mean as they want.

  • @VeteranConservative your crazy. ignorant. and pathetic.

  • whats the difference between the westboro baptist church, and a homosexual ?

a homosexual can support and raise a normal family

    lol

  • @VeteranConservative ppl who think there's a norm 4 "normal" R mental

  • what happened to you is terrible there are no excuses for ignorance and discrimination!! i'm so sorry you had to go through all this and please just ignore all the idiot comments on here, youtube is a breeding ground for idiots! stay strong thniking of you xxx

  • I BIG FUCK YOU FROM ENGLAND TO ALL AMERICAN HOMOPHOBIC PEOPLE OUT THERE IN THE US. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH HOMOPHOBIA MUST STOP NOW

  • @VeteranConservative as much as I WISH i could have an actual chat with you, to discuss some of the fuckin anti american bull shit going on right now in other videos...

    you know what ?

    fuck you.

this guy deserves to be the richest sailor in american history.

(sue the navy, and be put back on)

  • @VeteranConservative brays, "After you die of AIDS, I'll come over and piss on your grave."

VeteranConservative babbles, "Homosexuality is a mental illness"

    Speaking of mental illness, LOL.

VetCon, I realize your abject stupidity and deviant behavior are borne from severe mental problems. My best advice is for you to get extensive psychiatric care ASAP. You don't want to go through life being the equivalent of an infected boil on Satan's rectum, do you? Get help quick!

  • VeteranConservative, only the most uneducated, irrational, and immoral try to pass off the completely-debunked myth that being gay is an "illness". Just so you know. The world has moved on without you. It's time to drag your knuckles across the pavement towards a university or library, where you'll have access to an education. Good luck.

  • I'm so sorry you got discharged :(

  • @VeteranConservative YOU are obviously ignorant and retarded. Being gay is not an illness...its 2011, SERIOUSLY....you are ignorant

  • I love how everything becomes a religious debate. Anyway, can I see the pictures that were on your phone? :)

  • @VeteranConservative Where in, well, ANYWHERE, is it natural for animals to speak, write, use phones, computers? Who the hell cares about what's "natural" as compared to animals? Since when do our morals depend on animal behavior? Just shut the fuck up and go to bed and hug your Bible to your chest.

Love is love. There is nothing wrong with it. We are not hurting anyone with our love. If you don't like it, look away. Or move to a theocratic country.

  • This is disgusting, treating people like their some sort of war criminal, court martialing them and dishonorable discharging them, all for being gay. Good god, is it a crime, NO it's DAMN NOT>: ( DADT the Don't ask part was VIOLATED on a daily basis, phones searched and E-mail wread, even if YOU did not tell them and some back stabbing wrech comes to tell the army you were gay, you were sacked. This is NOT a legitamate law, it's plane old homophobia wrapped in corgress BULL SHIT>: (

  • @LowOIL It's "morale", moron.

  • FAG, YOU GOT WHAT YOU DESERVE. Quit cryin, why would you put pictures like that on your phone anyway. Tell Doug that he's a FAG too.

  • @sandman0391 we know we are fags you dumb ass. and maybe if you had something hot to put on your phone you would instead you probably have the fat, pimply and smelly cow.

  • @sandman0391 you are disgusting. you nasty bigot. what gives you the right to say that shit. you are a sad excuse for a human being.

  • @VeteranConservative and i betyou must be having severe mental illness right now so you should better see your doctor soon/

  • UNbelievable! I reposted this on my facebook (justin Ericson is my name), seriously, thank you for your service and how awful they did this to such a guy like yourself.

  • @VeteranConservative LOL 1978 is soo long ago! Do your reasearch!

  • I think this might be a privicy issue or a Bringing cameras in the area issue, but still, what does a picture prove?

  • Homophobia is a mental illness (hence, the suffixes phobia, phobic, and phobe) - and there is no such article published by an organization called Insitute of Modern Sciences.

  • I know it's been a while you posted this video, but when I was looking at some of these comments, I just had to be another voice telling you to hang in there and not to listen to all these people with no hearts. Even those who play the "religious" card...Does God condone hatred? Really? I have a hard time believing that. The hatred is not God's doing. Anyway, be happy for who you are, keep fighting and best of luck...and forgive (and forget) the haters..."they know not what they do".

  • @VeteranConservative If you're not gay...you have no right to tell us it's a choice or a mental illness! STFU!

  • @VeteranConservative scientist have observed lions, zebras, penguins as well as chimps in homosexual relationships yes relationships. So it does happen in nature. You need to do your research on this if 99% of scientist say that it is natural you should probably believe them especially considering that ones who don't think that its natural only believe so because their holy book says its an abomination. They have done the studies even the military has done them and said it is natural.

  • @VeteranConservative and of course when science proves you wrong you try to appeal to the normality of it let me assure you that it is totally natural for me and all of the other gay people i know. Also if you consider being prejudice, ignorant and intolerant you would be correct. out of you and me i think most would agree that you have the mental disorder.

  • @cornbreadjtm I wonder if VeteranConservative is a member of westboro baptist church ?

    lol

  • @VeteranConservative mainstream mental health professionals agree that homosexuality is not a mental illness and in 1986 homosexuality was removed from a the list of mental illness'. You cling to a report that has since been dis proven as i'm sure you cling to your bible to to make yourself feel better about the peoples lives you make hell becaus

  • i just want to let you know that dadt it still in effect for the time being but will be out of effect soon

  • dadt as bine repeald will you joine the navy agen????

  • @shawn199512 I think i will probably go back in to the Navy.

  • @cornbreadjtm

Hey Jarod, its Amber. You need to call me back hunny so we can get you started with your attorney. I really hope you do go back to the Navy. Although they don't deserve you. And don't forget that you have Joey and I if you need anything OK.

  • @cornbreadjtm oh lol I thought you were from WY, but I saw on the newspaper couple of days ago that "Gay Troops Can Serve Openly"

  • @LowOIL once again you are misinformed 84 % of the marine corp said that repeal would have positive or neutral affect on them. stop getting information and from fox news and go straight to the source the pentagon. I have lived the night mare of DADT for over 3 years and those people that did know about me had no problem at all. And here is a question why would who somebody loves have any bearing on another persons moral??? Straight people had no bearing on mine.

  • @LowOIL the DOD has conducted studies that show otherwise. Over 70% of the military says it does not matter.

  • Congratulations Jared!!! :-)

You have been so brave in telling your story, and thanks to courageous folks like you in the gay community, President Obama was FINALLY able to repeal "Don't Ask Don't Tell"!

You should be so proud of yourself! All of you!

And just know, that there are plenty of us straight folks out there who are rooting for you, for fair rights, & for equality!

God Bless you brother & thank you for your service to this country.

    Shalom

  • hey, re-enlist. your allowed to now.

  • The Israeli army is one of the most effective in the world. Gay and non-gays work side by side, women and men work side by side as equals. All we need to do in America is eliminate religious based discrimination and exclusivity (claims that this or that is the only true religion). Only then the world will see a true example of equality in America.

  • Omg are you from Wyoming? What town?

  • @ximei29 my ships name was wyoming. I've never been there lol

  • omg poor guy!! really feel so sorry for you!! hope you are doing little better now.. merry christmas! and i hope you win!!

  • I honestly don't care if homosexuals serve in the military as long as they're not flaming about it

  • @OCM117 what about the flaming heterosexuals ive heard many people talking about how much pussy they got over the weekend and no one is wanting to be flaming we just don't want to HAVE to be covert.

  • @cornbreadjtm - thats fine with me i'm just talking like if you wanna start wearing pink cammies......then we got a problem haha. I'm not homophobic, i've got a few gay friends who i've defended and gotten my knuckles bloody a few times. I'm just saying if they want to serve to let them. I still think homosexuality is morally wrong but that doesn't mean i judge the person because of it, i define a person by who he or she is. not their sexual orientation.

  • @OCM117 the gay community has never wanted that. Part of the military has always been about taking people from different walks of life and turning them in to one unit. While i was in i had friends that wore cowboy boots, listened to death metal, preppy and all sorts of different styles and creeds but we were friends regardless gays in the military will be the same.

I still think homosexuality is morally wrong but that doesn't mean i judge the person because of it, i define a person by who he or she is. not their sexual orientation. .

  • Sorry to hear your story. However, congratulations on the successful repeal of dadt. Hope you will be back on board doing what you feel passionate about soon. Best of luck to you :)

  • Hey buddy, just saw your video. Can't believe what they did to you. Wanted to say thank you for your service to our country. Thank GOD the Wicked Witch, DADT, is dead. Now for an education for some of you out there. Ethel Greenglass Rosenberg and Julius Rosenberg SOLD our atomic secrets to the USSR. They were married, so stop with it is only the gays that would sell us out. Also, what makes all you straight guys think we want to look at your junk, get over yourself.

  • as a soldier myself in the US ARMY, I have many gay friends in the military and I'm proud to serve with them side by side. Only insecure religious nuts are against this. gays have been servicing in the military for quite sometime and the US military is still the strongest in the world, along with the fact many other countries have already had openly gay soldiers in the ranks for decades and they're still operating. Sorry for your discharge battle. Wish you the best!

  • Damn man, that's harsh. I wish all the luck in the world to you with your challenge. Thankfully, as I am sure you aware, DADT was repealed! Hopefully you will be able to enlist again and serve this country.

P.S. I am totally jealous that you got to work on a ballistics submarine :P

  • That is some BS man. Discrimination in the American military should not be tolerated at all and it is sad that we are just now making the military truly American. How can we say that we are fighting for the American ideals of liberty and justice when we can't even have it in our own country?!

  • Stay strong u hero

  • I just saw your video for the first time (the one u made after DADT was killed)....My god, you're such a brave soul to want to re-enlist. All the best for your future plans...be well and take care of yourself. As an aside, it's shocking to read some of the ignorant posts here....the depths of some people's stupidity are just too deep to change. Ignore them, their voices DO NOT count!

  • Serving openly will create a whole new level of tension, lawsuits, rules, disciplines, additional training ie sensitivity training, morale problems, infighting, and a whole host of unnecessary soldiers will have to endure because of PC! It is more important than training men and women to keep the country safe. You think our soldiers aren’t stresses enough? Is that it? You want to throw more PC garbage at them? You’re ok with disrupting what has worked since the beginning of our military history?

  • @BlackRepublican2010 I don't think that's true you are listening to the same people that predicted the outcome of our invasion of Iraq that it would be amazing and they would treat us as liberators well it wasn't and they didn't. I know from experience that that people do not care and even if what you say is true that is no reason to treat people unequally our military is professional enough to handle this.

  • @BlackRepublican2010 Hey Black Republican, you do realize that were it not for people "disrupting what has worked since the beginning of our military history" that people like you and your kin would never be allowed to serve at all? Also, you claim to hate PC so much, but if it wasn't for people learning t be sensitive to one another, we'd still be calling yu a dumb, ignorant negro. Personally, I think it's a lot better that we all treat each other with respect... don't you?

  • @BlackRepublican2010 It will results in lawsuits? How? New rules? Tension? What?

If anything, the amount of lawsuits of soldiers being unecessarily kicked out of the army is going down. And if as a soldier you're not man enough to treat your neighbour as an equal just because his orientation doesn't match your own you're only begging the question of how fragile your self-esteem really is. They're in a warzone, you really think they're gonna care about where people put their private parts?

  • @BlackRepublican2010 "You’re ok with disrupting what has worked since the beginning of our military history?"

Would you use the same argument against allowing black people to serve in the military? Because in the beginning of our military history, blacks and females weren't allowed to server. Since we have changed that, both groups have been instrumental in supporting and protecting our nation. Gay soldiers will do the same.

You should read the pentagon survey that disproves your claims.

  • Thank you for your service. It is my sincerest hope that you are able to rejoin should you decide you want to.

  • This is so stupid. you weren't even doing something bad. This was embarrassing. Sorry you had to go through it. This is really damaging to the army and its troops. Lots of people don't want to do this and serve our country. YOU DID/DO and look what happened? This is not okay. NOTHING. I REPEAT, NOTHING MAKES THIS OKAY..... nothing.

  • They need a gay meter for letting gays into the army! 1 being the least gay(as this guy appears) and 10 being the flaming disruptive gay(Perez Hilton) and only 1-3 should be allowed in the army! Even tho the repeal of DADT is obamas secret way of cutting the military in half like he has said he wanted to do!

  • @rebelme420 Did your mama have any babies that weren't retards?

  • I hope you reenlist. Im with you all that way and this is giving me and my friends something to look forward to. You are an instration to a lot of us including me and my other. We will be following your story. Stay safe and hope all goes well for you.

  • Thanks for your bravery! Although many Americans dont realize what you sacrificed for them to continue to live in safety and freedom, i want you to know that you are my hero. I know that I dont have the guts to do what you do. Best Wishes and Merry Christmas :D

  • curious...now that DADT is repealed, will you apply for reinstatement? i agree, it'd be an honor to have you serve our country again. good luck!

  • its fucking over! bigots be damned! thanks for your bravory entering the military and for posting and being "out"

  • DADT REPEALED. great day in American history!

  • No, this poor man was discharged because others have an inclination!

  • Thank you for your service sir! I believe you are one of the "Real Americans" that the Conservative Party affectionately refers too when spewing their rhetoric. It is a shame you were let go over your sexual orientation. What is even more outrageous is the fact that people, especially men who have never enlisted, feel they have a right to try to discredit you as a man who has honorably service his county. That's America for you!

  • BRAVO for sharing your story. it means so much to so many people. your a fine human being and you will prevail. we support you.

  • I hope everything works out for you. Keep it up man.

  • and thats the thanks you get for risking your life in the defense of our nation ! Some things make me embarrassed to say I am an American. There are so many contradictions . We have a constitution and a bill of rights that are designed to protect ALL citizens. The reality is hate mongers decide what citizens are covered with these protections. America is still only a dream and not yet a genuine article .

  • I'm sorry you got released and I am active duty military member and COMPLETELY against DADT but you knew the policy coming in and violated it. I'm not sure what sharing your story is supposed to accomplish.

It's a shame because it seems the policy is going to be overturned in the near future.

  • Isn't this a violation of the 4th amendment?

  • sir, you are a faggot and im glad you got booted

do your country a favor and quit spreading the gay trend

  • @phantom1000A I approved this comment only so that others could reply to you. The bible says judge not and you will not be judged when i get to heaven i hope i get to see your face when i make the cut and you don't. SIR enjoy your stay in hell.

  • @phantom1000A You're just a pissed-off self-hating closet-case, phantom. You know that gay sex is the best sex. That's why you lay awake at night fondling your boy-pussy for half the night and crying for the other half. Get yourself a well-hung gay-stud who will bang your baby-hole and quit posting small-minded posts against Specialist Macintosh. He is more man that you will ever be.

  • @phantom1000A what's up with the comment? My partner was a marine who was killed in Iraq saving several peoples lives. They were straight. How would you like to attend the burial of someone you would die for yourself and be "just a friend". Gay peope are not a trend. We are a people, we were created. I am almost to the point that all gay people should live on a island. Then watch what happens to your world. Oh yeah, watch how many others join us and leave you here.

  • @phantom1000A Sir, do our country a favor and go drive off the side of a cliff...

  • @phantom1000A Go say that to his face, coward. Bigoted shits like you deserve to have your teeth knocked down your throat

  • I thank you for your courage in coming forward with your story. I am not military but my fiance' is. He is stationed in Japan now and I am also here. Had to pay my own way as same sex couples have no dependent benefits. As it stands, even with the repeal I still WONT be eligible for benefits. At least until the federal courts recognize same sex marriage. DADT affects significant others as well!

  • Hey man I just saw this on another website. This is total bullshit! There is soooo much I want to say but I rather keep this short and to the point. No matter how you were discharged you were an Sailor and should be damn proud of it. Im not sure if your still fighting this or if things have been resolved but I wish you the best of luck from one gay to another! <3

  • The Wikileaks spy PFC Bradley Manning is an example of why homosexuals should never be allowed to join the U.S. military. Hopefully he will be convicted and put to death.

  • @JimmyFormerMarine he wasn't gay dude that what the one dude said because he thinks that being gay is evil first get your fact right this has already been addressed in the mainstream media. and second your very classy you picture could be on a wall next to hitler, stalin, and saddam.

  • What a shame that you were discharged! I hope DADT is repealed and some retroactive measures can be taken to restore your good name! Best of luck and we're out here supporting you!

  • I am so sorry, you poor thing. I pray that things work out for you brother!! Our people continue to be discriminated against day after day. We will win the fight one day, just stay strong. Already, I could never be a sailer like you that takes guts and I commend you for it. Thank you

  • I cut off in my comment on your reply to ram0166 made two weeks ago so let me finish: With all the hate going on I think the only solution is to break up the US b/c it's no longer a country worth defending. Why? Too many people who hate our guts and each others' guts. Break it up into The United States of Canada (blue states) and The Confederate States of America (red states). And let the CSA fly the Confederate Battle Flag or the Stars And Bars. At least we'll know where the hate comes from.

  • No you're not being discharged for being "gay". You are being discharged for homosexual acts which is a violation of regulation.

  • @ram0166 so therefor being gay is why i was discharged which falls under the DADT policy.

  • @cornbreadjtm There was a case I think in the early 90's of a a Sergeant in the Army who was being discharged for being homosexual. I'm not sure what level the ruling was made at but the court said he could not be discharged because he had admtted to being homosexual when he enlisted and the Army had not made the case that he had committed a homosexual act. Ostensibly he was remaining celibate for the sake of his career.

  • @ram0166 Military policy aside do you think that is ok. A persons personal life should have no affect on their career gay or straight. Mine did not at least until it was dragged into it. I didn't make this video for sympathy i made it to bring attention to a discriminatory policy. DADT affects peoples lives and the military negatively. The bottom line is that gays should be allowed to serve openly. Also oral sodomy is against regulation and many guys admit to having given and receiving it.

  • @cornbreadjtm Sucks that the board decided to make your being gay the issue when it's obvious that only your separation from service would affect unit morale and cohesion. But this is the situation when Congress steamrollered Clinton and decided that homosexuality, not just gay male sex mind you but the very orientation, was inimical to military effectiveness with nothing to back them up. With all the hate going on I think the only solution is to break up the US b/c it's no longer a country

  • @ram0166 i don't know about the 90's, but i do know that was true for Percy Watkins, who admitted when he signed up for the US Army that he had homosexual tendencies. he was always out, and served openly for several years, because he was an exemplary soldier and had no grounds for dismissal.

read about it in Conduct Unbecoming by Randy Shilts

  • @cornbreadjtm well, being gay doesnt fall under the DADT policy, be openly gay and homosexual acts will get you discharge... would have got you discharge i mean. You can be gay just cant be caught doing anything gay.

Like the only sex position allowed in the military is the Missionary position and nothing else, getting caught doing anything other will cause for Mass or NJP. You can do it just not get caught doing it.

  • @ram0166

Sodomy, oral sex, and "strange sex" are violations of the Article 125 of the UCMJ. They apply to both gay AND straight servicemembers, and yet the only people who seem to be punished by Article 125 are homosexuals. That's discrimination.

It appears that cornbreadjtm IS being discharged for being gay, under DADT. What part of that do you not see here?

OBVIOUSLY, the separation board DID determine that his sexual orientation was the reason for discharge.

  • fuck the military

  • Seriously dude, you can tell those people that "charged" you to f*** off, because in my opinon, your a real hero. Sure, you can fight some bloody battles and serve your country couragously, but it takes some huge nuts to fight to protect even the people who say they hate you. You sir are a true soldier and I thank you for all you did for us while in service.

  • You should get an Honorable, I was kicked out under DADT and got an Honorable. You definitely need to fight for an Honorable it matters in civilian hiring. No matter where you go now your employers will find out you are gay so be upfront in interviews. Sorry man, America does not treat us right.

  • Thanks for posting - hopefully others will also, it sucks.

Having found no classified images they should have simply reported that - now you can challenge them that you did not tell - they assumed from personal and private information which you had not volunteered; they extracted it.

(On the other hand, having photos of you and your bf on board ship was a high risk given DADT realities).

Good luck with the appeal, but they have a problem to ask you back if you since came out to them.

  • Wow, you're just doing your job and serve your country and suddenly you end up in this nasty situation. I'm sorry for you and hope things will work out.

It's about time for the USA to have a look in the mirror while judging other countries like Iran on human rights, etc.

  • DADT is wrong.

  • @FamilyMWR As far as the Survey goes i was not given the survey nor have i looked over it but from what i have read about it has stirred controversy because it words things in a homophobic way i am not 100% on this but i do know there are certain "hot" words that will sway peoples opinions like homosexual a lot of times will get a negative out come but the word gay is fine. Personally I don't like the survey because I don't think equality for a group of people should be up to the majority

  • @cornbreadjtm Exactly. Yet hate goups like the Family Research Council claims the survey was flawed in the other direction. Message to Tony Perkins: give me a break! And the same goes for the rest of you haters who wrap your hatred and fascism in a flag around a cross.

  • I'm so sorry this happened to you.

  • Glad that you're fighting the discharge. Sexual Orientation is no reason for discharge is far as I am concerned. I thought the guy in the White House was supposed to do something about this ridiculous "policy"?

  • What a weird country. Dude, come to Canada where we welcome you to get married to your boyfriend, serve openly in our military, and live a free life!

    USA = freedom?? Yeah, right!

  • This is a SHAME! You want to serve OUR COUNTRY, yet. Just because of your Sexual Orientation you can't.. Did they tell you you do not have to pay taxes anymore? Of course not.. Being Gay in The USA you are forbidden the same rights as straights. Why? To live in a Country full of Bigots.

Yet They still make us pay taxes.. You can't Even Protect and Serve OUR COUNTRY..

Sorry, About your plight. stay STRONG, and ALWAYS BE WHO YOU ARE! NOT WHAT OTHERS WANT YOU TO BE!!

  • Support our troops! I support Jarod McIntosh and think they should keep him in the U.S. Navy. Thank you for serving our country!

  • I don't see how they could discharge considering the fact that you didn't "tell". Is the official position that you, in effect, "told" by bringing your phone into a restricted area, therefore; by inference, voluntarily presented your photographs?

My guess is that others who've brought phones into restricted areas have not been discharged, even those with sexual photos of themselves with women.

If you have stamina, my guess is that you will succeed in the long haul.

    Best of Luck, man

  • @ThisbeandPyramus "Telling" is defined as any action that might be considered "homosexual", including watching a Youtube video, commenting favorably on gay rights on youtube, browsing through a magazine at a newstand. Going to a club or hooking up with someone are ipso facto violations of DADT. It is not about discretion; it is about never giving you self away, EVER.

  • @maharal9 that is not what telling is defined as they have made changes to the policy so that someone who went to a gay club, had gay porn, or even someone who is in favor of gay rights would not be get hurt by the policy. and if what you say is true most of the military's head people would be discharged because they are for gay rights and getting rid of DADT. Just so you know.

  • I'd never heard of a DADT policy before (I'm in the uk), but it's completely ridiculous. It's like being gay automatically means you're a second class citizen or something. I wish you good luck with your appeal and I hope you keep us posted. :)

  • Good luck to you and stay strong. My partner (USN) and I (Civilian) went through this at the beginning of DADT and it was extemely difficult on both of us. You did a great job telling your story in the video! Will be looking for more to follow your progress.

  • Me being gay myself, only wish that this policy is repealed this year, because I'm at risk of getting kicked out of my very home for being who I am, and I have nowhere to turn to as a last resort other than the military... I really hope President Obama holds on to his promise and ends this discriminatory policy.

  • Better than serving the Dominionist Agenda which would execute you for being gay. The reactionary religious right has taken over this country through massive propaganda, group hysteria, and psychological manipulation. Once they finish with wars over there and get Obama out of office and Palin elected. You'll be put to death. Look up Lou Engle.

  • Well told.

  • As a Canadian Navy officer, and an openly gay man, I salute your efforts, and I'm sure Canada would love to have your skills and expertise, should the US Navy deem you "unfit" . it's certainly unfair in every aspect, and it sickens me to my core. Bravo Zulu, keep fighting.

  • dude, I think you're brave and mature beyond your years. You're well spoken and coming at this from a logical standpoint and not an emotional one. Good for you. If it matters, this gay man is proud of you!

  • l o v e y o u

  • DADT is so stupid. I wish you luck, and I really hope DADT is repealed very, very soon.

  • I'm very sorry to hear you were discharged due to the DADT policy and hope it is repealed as soon as possible, so others don't have to go through what you have had to go through.
