This happened to me when i was a kid. My school went on a skiing trip, and we were out for a few hours. My fingers were ice cold, then they suddenly got warmer. I didnt think this was a big deal cause i was a kid. But when i got back in the bus, i felt this intense burning sensation. So i got sent home. Later puss started to form over my fingers. My nails became black, later on my nails just came off. i went to a docter and he told my folks that it would take 3 yrs for my nerves to recover
@MyRobotMonkey Wow..it took about that long for him to as much as he can do now. He didn't lose the fingers but has major nerve damage. However he still manages and is much healthier now :)
frostbite is when your skin is exposed to below freezing temperature for an extended period of time as to were the skin freezez but your marshall or blood doesnt
@TheSleyths Frostbite is the destruction of tissue from extremely cold. There are different degrees similar to burns. 1st degree is frostnip: Stinging, numbness, red patches. 2nd is chiblains or blisters like this & heal with possible sensory or motor damage. 3rd is called frostbite: deep tissue damage. Turns the tissue gangrenous (tissue is dead beyond healing & blocks blood flow). 4th is where whole extremities dies & must be amputated. Likely in areas of low blood circulation i.e. fingers.
@TheSleyths frostbite is when a part of your body litterary freezes due to great cold. This often happens to escalators. There are four degrees of frostbite. At the third and fourth, you thingers etc... are basicly dead and must be cut of. Not fun ;)
@TheSleyths I believe it's what happen when you expose your skin to extreme cold that causes the part to swell with liquid to protect it , just like blisters.
@TheSleyths When, you're out in the cold or snow, a body part comes to be so cold that, the body activates it's defense mechcanism against the cold & takes blood away from body parts to protect your torso, &/or organs, rather then letting you freeze to death from the inside out.
@TheSleyths Cold temperatures can cause lack of blood flow to parts of the body (generally extremities which have poor circulation such as fingers and toes) causes the death of cells. The fact that the water in the body freezes can also cause additional damage, but I don't think it's the main problem. There's more details on Wikipedia or other websites.
@TheSleyths It means when you stay out in a cold when its minus 20 or 30 and if you don't were gloves hats or jacket you will freeze and it hurts so try not to get frostbite!
It's crazy how similar the super cold and super heat effect your body, i had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my finger and part of my hand and the blisters seem similar. Hope you recovered well.
This looks horrible! I live in northern Canada and once ( about 12 yrs ago) i spent a whole winter day outside with crap shoes. My big toe had gotten white and lifelessness by the end of the day. Once it warmed up, it became swollen + deep purple and extremely painful. Was really scary, i never went to doctor but luckily it somehow healed. However i forever lost some sensitivity in that toe. Its numbed from frost damage, forever.
how did it happen? I got i guess 'forst nip' on my big toe. Nothing even close to that...but i can't feel side of my toe. And hurts like heck when it gets cold. Glad no finger loss. Hope someday you can play guitar again!
would you be able to take another video of how his hands look today, i realize these were taken in 2009, but would the skin heal fully, or does he have scar tissue?
Oh my! I hope you recovered okay. I have lived in Alaska all my life and have seen some nasty cases of Frostbite! Yours is up there in the top 5 for sure! Owie!
yeah man i use to live in finland up in lapland and i had horrible frostbite on my fingertip, it turned blue and the doctor said he would have to amputate it but i said give me a week and it turned out my finger started to function normally and turned white like it should
@Mikeeyy100 Frostbite is what heppens when the skin is exposed to cold tempeartures. Staying out in the cold is no joke if your not careful. Be sure to keep your body especailly your hands and feet as warm as possible. IF you become frostbitten get your hands/ feet in a warm environment. The best thing would be to put them in warm(not hot) water and get to the nearest medical facility
I had severe frostbite on my feet. I almost had them amputated. That's how my feet looked the day after. But mine burst open when I got up to go to the hospital. Then they cut off the skin.
I got frostbite like 10 years on my ears and now a days I just can't handle the cold anymore and my ears go cold even indoors, thanks for sharing your videos and glad you are ok
HI, i have frostbite in my foot, i just want to ask how much did it took you too feel again your fingers? because i cant feel my toes, thank you. Sorry for my english
its better than getting burn blisters.....burn blisters burn for about 3 hours...you will have to put your hands in freezing cold water....and that sucks
