  • Do u do just jumper or hunter-jumper?

  • Comment removed

  • that is cool, what is the real difference? jumper is higher jumps and hunter is like jugeing by form?

  • Hunters is 100% judged. Horses manners, form over fences, its stride. The riders are also judged, but they are about 20% of the judging. Jumpers you are not judged, you go for a clear round in the amount of time they give you.

  • we do have something called feil og stil which is faults and style basicly and you get style points for how well you ride and safetey and all that and faults so the best style and faults combined wins....:)

  • this is a random question...lol But do u body clip Asterix? His coat looks so thin compared to my hafingers! lol

  • yep but he is a lot thinner than most haffis anyway... he is chestnut in the summer and almost white in the winter............=)

  • Mark gets more white...and fatter in the winter...but he doesnt realy go white all the way. lol He is so cute though in the winter. He reminds me of a ball of fuzz. lol

  • You use gogole too. <3

  • it was so sad when they fell! i hope that asterix and rachel were ok.

  • rachel is a fantastic rider! i was really rooting for her to go clear oh well to me shes still gone clear in the second round!

  • The pony at 5:13 was doing really good until the last round. Was that the last fence that he refused to jump?

Anyway, great video! And cute pony. :D

  • Is the pony at 2:52 Little Imp?

  • no its tornado

  • nice vid, i like the music. too bad about the fall :( the round was going so well! better luck next time.

  • Awesome video! Cute ponies! ya, I hope everyone was ok!!!!

  • Awesome video. I hope everyone was OK though after their falls. What's your Haflinger's pedigree (we are looking at one!).

  • I think it's so great to see young riders like Rachel give their ponies a pat and show them their doing well during the round. To many don't appreciate that it's a team effort between horse and rider.

I would also like to applaud you for showing people that you don't need a hyper, super skinny, riding pony, that Asterix can do whatever the others do just as well even if his breed isn't known for their showjumping skills. Rachel has done a great job with him and it's a shame about the fall.

  • i appreciate that other people say and believe that too!! when i went to try asterix he had been at the dealers for ages because no one wanted a haaflinger jumping pony i am so glad that i chose him a lot of the people at my stable who tried him are annoyed cuz they didnt get him!!

    rachel

  • madandmountedNorway (love the name!) - thanks for the comments. I'm sure Rachel won't mind me saying and would also agree that Asterix's first owner did a lot to bring him on as a showjumper as well.

Asterix has taught Rachel a lot and she often says that he helps her out when she gets things wrong! But you're right - they are a team and that's so important. It was a pity about the fall but they weren't lined up for it properly.

    They'll be back!

  • Great video, i think this is one of ur best, oh it would sucked really badly for Rachel she was going so well and riding very well as well. well i guess there is always next time! Great editing and filming.

  • Hi Grace! Did you mean - do any of the photos come from my video 1.40 metres? If so the answer is no. ALL the still photos were taken by the photographer (Mikkel Andraa) at the Epona riding centre. The photos were taken over the first three days of the NM and are of horses and ponies. I take no credit for the photos - they're all the work of Mikkel and I'm grateful for the riding centre allowing the free use of them.

  • Hi Grace - just noticed a previous comment of yours I hadn't replied to! The photos are of ponies and horses. Some of the horse events did go up to 1.40 metres but for some events like those for the junior riders, the fences would have been 1.20 / 1.25 metres. There was a whole range of jumping heights at the championships.

  • I film at every competition but I don't take pictures of everyone. The pony at 2:52 is Tornado. Little Imp wasn't at the NM.

  • Hey TommyTheHorse! Just wondering, did you get any of Black Dancer and Salix on film?

  • Hi Grace, Dancer and Salix weren't at the NM. Riders can only enter on one horse, which has to qualify at a certain level of competition.

  • Oooooo. Okay. Ever since I started watching your videos, I have learned so much! Norway, Show jumping, and how to convert meters to feet! lol Thank you.

  • omg how do you convert meters to feet? lol i always get so confused..

  • ha. I actually learned the feet from TommytheHorse and I remembered them.

    1.00 meter= 3'3 ft

    1.10 meters= 3'7 ft

    1.20 meters= 3'11 ft

    1.40 meters= 4'7 ft.

  • lol thanks a ton :) now i know what the heights are in all the vids!

  • Comment removed

  • Ha! - I always use Google to do the conversion!

Although it doesn't convert the inches part - it shows it as a decimal part of a foot so I do a rough calculation for the inches... which is why I always say the heights are approximate.

  • wonderful editing job! :-)

  • Oooh my favourite video yet i think. ^-^

Is that the same Piebald that was broncing like a spastic in your Horse Party video? Did they hold a gun to his head to make him behave? :))

&& Who is the girl putting on Asterixs' briddddle?

&& Is that Asterix at 7.13 'cause i thought it was too skinny at first but it might just be the plaits. =o

Sorry for all the questions :]]

  • Hi NYgoat! The piebald in this video is different to the Horse Party piebald, who's now a respectable well behaved pony :-) The girl putting on Asterix' bridle is Rachel's best friend - Mari. And yes, that is Asterix @ 7.13. He was polished and buffed up for the first class of the NM (judged on riding style, appearance and faults). And to repeat my comments in the description: this video wouldn't have been possible without the superb still photographs - courtesy of the Epona riding centre.

  • What an excellent video. Sad to see Rachel fall.=[ But her and Asertix still looked really good, no doubt! Nice song as well.
