wow now i see what we (goshen) were up against., this year it was close and im still happy we got second but next year we're comin hard!! b ready North Central here we come again!!
@RDZ90210 you're right it was close- i sat in the front row whole time and goshen BLEW ME AWAY... north central's perfect intonation, precision, and the difficulty of the music probably got them the win.. but i'm glad to see you guys are happy and keep your heads up [:
@born2broadway Yeah, for us to b in 2nd and/or 1st for the last 5 years is a great accomplishment., we plan next to do improve our flaws and stay on TOP!!! :D
I'm in Valparaiso Concert Choir, and I could not believe how incredible North Central did! I was thoroughly impressed and intimidated! Bravo! And I cannot wait to compete with you this year!
Wow this was perfection! I would kill for the baritone soloists voice, so good. Soprano soloist was also very good. The choir also was great, i think if they didnt have those soloist the performance would still be great. Good job
lol its prolly ur video and audio. ive watched her conduct alot and shes pretty easy to follow :-) though yeah, some directors are hella confusing...shes pretty straight forward.
NC doing Lily and Bogo probably made up for the heavy solos in the closer and also 'Gallows' is hardest because you have to remember when to say 'Slack your rope' or 'Hangzaman' and how much in between each.. what do you think.
acually i disagree with that, i think judges see that as a negative. I think that's why Laff Jeff didn't make state this year... their last number was primarily soloists but not as hard as this [not on the list I don't think], their first number was 'Song of Moses' which is hard but nothing you can't learn in a week, and their middle one, the 1 min 20 sec Ave Maria was just too short....
i think that if you think that the soloists in this song won for them, then you need to listen to the chords underneath more carefully. i went to state and watched every single choir, mixed and unisex alike. not many of those choirs could pull a song like this off even if they hired a professional soloist. Im not knocking any of the other choirs at State because i loved them all
I think the women sounded a tad shrill.... and Madeline (female soloist) was a little overpowered by Max(first male soloist). Both the sophomores did very well for their age. Truly moving piece.
I think the men should practice support their tone a little more, use a bit more of the stomach and chest I suppose.. I think that the song should have an equally intense, but slightly more mature tone. And with their ability to blend it'd take for a breathtaking performance for even those not interested in this type of music... Much kudos to this Max, he's truly talented. I think the part with the women echoing the solo should have a more hushed tone quality.. for easier interpretation.

That was incredible... How do you learn that kind of music AND compete as a show choir? I am so impressed.

north central starts both their show choir show and their concert choir show at the same time. they also rehearse basically every day after school.

itd be easy to win first if everyone just chose their best soloist to sing most of the song
