  • This is so beautiful a ballet in the sky this guy has such a talent I,ve found a new idol

  • Amazing

  • I adore Ray Bethell. He is Kite flyings premier gentleman as well as Champion.

  • So much control...Sky Puppeteer

  • The song is "Flower Duet" from the opera, Lakme by Leo Delibes. Singers are Dame Judith Sutherland, Australian coloratura soprano, who died in October 2010; and Marilyn Horn, mezzo soprano from Pennsylvania. Truly one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. Perfect accompanyment for Ray's perfect flying!

  • he attaches two strings for one kite at his waist - then one kite in each hand (home made handles) this man is just prolific!

  • Mesmerizing and beautiful! What a wonderful video.

  • this gave me the tingles... gorgeous. thank you!

  • WOW

  • Wow, what a wonderful way to start my day!

  • WOW. :)

  • The coloratura barcarole is from Delibes's opera Lakme. Ridley Scott used it in his film Someone to Watch Over Me and his brother, Tony Scott, use it in The Hunger and True Romance. It was also in the film I've Heard the Mermaids Singing and has been used in television commercials. The version used here is not the best.

  • ty schumi ^^

  • mostimportantnews

  • name of that song please?

  • uhm whats that opera? and yes awesome

  • Beautifully done Thanks for sharing.

  • Beautifully Done. Thank you for sharing.

  • As to why no one was watching, interesting point. I would have been on my back watching this free exhibition of amazing artistry.

Last year, someone did a little experiment where they took the world's best violinist and stuck him in the subway and the same thing happened. No one stopped for more than just a cursory glance.

At least there are a few of us still walking around to appreciate these little gems.

  • Wow, fails to convey how impressed I am right now. Never in my life have I seen such talent with kites.

Something so pure and simple... made even more beautiful.

Bravo and thank you for sharing!

  • This is some really incredible stuff - world class! The reason no one is watching could be because it is in a metropolitan area. People in those places are stuck in their own heads. Also, the chemicals in most sunscreen contribute to causing cancer. Vitamin D, from sunshine, cures it - and many other diseases!

  • If I touched this contraption i would have to spend the rest of the day untangling the ball of string I created.

  • Incredible Kite Flying.

    Fantastic videography.

Notice all under a chemtrail sky.

  • it`s a shame that most people don`t know about chemtrails.

i ask people if they know about chemtrails. if they say yes i then ask them if they know what contrails are. they say no.

it`s pathetic that the word chemtrail has replaced the word contrail to the ignorant.

    i then explain the difference.

other times people do know the difference but they tell me it`s okay because chemtrails are reversing global warming. they believe that because a documentary told them that.

    what stupid sheep.

  • YAY! i love it! you have my respect!

  • unbelieveble! Touching! Thank you very much for posting!

  • I'd like to tell Ray where to go......but he's already there!

  • I saw him there in Vanier Park several times as I live nearby, great to watch.

I'm sure he will be out again as the weather gets better.

  • This is Breathtaking !!!

  • Would someone tell me what is the name of the song playing in the background?

  • Hi

That's from the opera Lakmé by Léo Delibes, the duet "Viens, Mallika", also called the Flower Duet.

  • Wh.. how is he doing that with the one that's just attached to his hips...? and how do they travel laterally..? and why don't the tails and lines wrap? And why is no one there watching?!

This is what I love about people, no matter what it is, someone will play with it and play with it until they break physics.

  • Your questions are very reasonable, so why did someone hit the negative one? I also wanted to know why there were no people watching. HELL-O EVERYONE!!!! Here is some great talent.

  • Beautiful.

  • Love this video. This is amazing. But Ron, can I suggest some sun-block?

  • lol. I'd also suggest Ray put some on too.

  • don't buy the hype! Skin cancer rates have soared since the invention of sun block. To lather chemmies on your skin then go outside in the heat sounds stupid. Burning causes the damage, not tanning. Don't buy into the attempt to deprive our population of vitamin D. Sun block, fluoride and many other factors reduce our vit. D slowly ensuring a weak dumb populous.

  • This is like the Blue Angels of the kite world. Well done!

  • RESPECT!!!!! This is amazing!

  • Awesome!

  • WTF!? How is this possible? He's a god.

  • One of the most impossibly beautiful things you'll ever see!

  • Amazing/see "Kite" by John Newton.

  • I love ray's kites. he is a genius and an artist...

  • This man is a wizard! Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Wow Awesome! Truly Amazing! A God given-talent indeed!I LOVE THIS! THANKS FOR SHARING!

Just like an Airforce Acrobatic Show!

  • Wow Awesome! Truly Amazing! A given-talent indeed!I LOVE THIS! THANKS FOR SHARING!

Just like an Airforce Acrobatic Show!

  • amazing an incredible display of talent and art!!!

  • A real talent... but I want the music... anyone know what it is?

  • It's the Flower Song from the Opera Lakme by Leo Delibe. Lakme and her servant girl are floating down the Ganges.

  • "flower duet"

  • That is unbelievable! My kids are amazed. They thought they were remote control planes. AMAZING!! :)

  • All I have to say is WoW!!

  • Amazing, which one is on his leg? I was shown this by a friend at his office and had him forward it to me. He is an inspiration being over 80 years young and still able to do this. Way to go Ray, keep up the good work mate!

  • Ray flies the right and left kites from his respective hands, and the 3rd kite from his waist.

  • how does he do it with out getting the wires tangled?

  • Possibly one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

  • I didn't even know this could be accomplished with kites. He is an absolute genius! I brought the whole family in to watch this!:o)

  • like fish swimming in water XD

    +++.

  • Janetlw: see the documentary 'Ray Bethell's Good stuff' - he's deaf, or very hard of hearing. The video was cut to the music afterwards.

Still amazing kite flying, though. Pure art.

  • The Good Stuff video can be found here...

    youtube (DOT) com/watch?v=X3rK8-39AhQ

  • Absolutely the best!!!

Does he have the music in his ears? If not, how does he get all kites gliding perfectly with the music

  • Outstanding! as this video link is spreading our Cause of Kiting worldwide in a Forward!

Mr.Robin Mc. Foothills Kite Club, Denver,Colorado,USA

  • This is really very moving. It shows what care and persistance can accomplish.

  • beautiful!!!
