I paid almost $1500.00 for mine.Here are the problems with this model.When you close the lid,over time you will notice major scrathes on your screen.HP is very aware of this design flaw,but will not admit it.Also it gets very very hot and after a short time you will have to replace the keyboard buttons.We are talking about a PC that was very expensive,I could of bought a MAC.DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL!!!

i have this laptop and i have a problem with it - basically when playing dvds now, a notable vibration can be felt. i never noticed this before. i've tried changing dvds, even took the drive out (doesnt seem sturdy), am considering ordering a replacement part but its expensive, ordered anti-vibration feet but that didnt work, disabled/enabled the drive, everything. its really annoying now. anyone got any tips? reply to my comment, cheers

I have one of these, LOVE it, It's my gaming machine, still can handle everything I throw at it. I only traveled with it twice for gaming purposes, otherwise it is way too heavy to carry. Plus, it's so heavy I'm scare it'll break under its own weight when I pick it up! BEST "portable" machine EVER.

You most certainly can. I have Crysis, Assassins Creed, Sims 3, Mass Effect etc, and they all run fine. Crysis on top settings at 1024x768. I also overclock the 8800 NVIDIA GPU to 615 via NVIDIA System Tools.

I don't know 'bout y'all but I bought this laptop 2 years ago and the only problem I had was the hard drive that just stopped working because "x" reason...but after formating it, I've never got any problem.

This laptop is great!!!! in 1 year I have replaced 2 motherboards due to the faulty GPU that they all came with. Its fantastic and HP knows this as Nvidia came clean but they are still selling it and after the warranty expires they ask you for $400 to replace the MB that will work for another 1year (8months in my case) go and buy this or anything from HP if you like to be scamed

very good computer, i play all sort of games, i had it in about 1 year, and the sound and picture is awesome, if you play new games with high graphics it'll get some high sound in 5-6 months, but i use headphones so i dont give a shit. i love my comp its the best one i ever had, no problems no nothing, it'll maybe get hot but doesnt effect the comp but ur hands! -.-... good camera and good microphone. If you like to play games and loves to LAN, then this is your computer, trust me!

I LOVE my HDX I use it all the time and it barely gets close to hot. The sound with the subwoofer and visuals from the screen make it a true cinematic experience! Did I say I love my HDX?!? 2.5GHZ Core2Duo, 8Gbs of ram, 2x500GB Seagate 7200.4 HDs, 1920x1200 1080p screen, 8800M GTS GPU, Blu-Ray ROM, etc!

To leofirehot: the same thing happen to my hdx, my touch setting buttons don´t work, I called HP and their last answer was to reset the laptop to fabric settings, I have not done this, I don't have time to install every software beack...Other ideas?

Just take out the batter, hold down the power button for 30 seconds, plug back in and it may likely work. Works for me when the quick touch buttons stop working.

I must say I have this same notebook since August and it work  really good have about 5 large games prostreet, underground, flatout and grid, they all run flawless. Just that I hate this Vista OP it sucks. I bought a carry bag with roller wheels from HP.

A great computer, (i won't say laptop because it is much better than a laptop) the computer is sure to replace an old desktop. It's huge!!! I mean the screen is 20 inches!!! I'd say the only bad thing is that it weighs a massive 15 lbs. And it is really hard to find a laptop bag for it, but besides those two things, it is the best (won't say laptop) computer ever!!! I can't wait to get one myself!!!

you mean... run it on the internal battery? you should be able to, but power heavy systems like the "Dragon" usually have special adapters which are made to be plugged in all the time. Running the internal battery will probably give you no more then an hour and a half of normal use time though. Hope this helps

well you can get the hdx on ebay for around 2 grand for the 2.6ghz model, has the same ati graphics chipset, and the cost of upgrading to 4gb isnt much

for me personally, its definately worth it (ok my desktop cost me 2 grand to build and it has better cooling etc and a a high end dual sli graphic set on it) but this laptop still performs very very well. I recommend it

HP has really outdone itself as of late with their newer computers.

The only downside being that they have Windows Vista on them, but you can't really blame HP for wanting to keep current, and at least it still lets me use my internet stuff and games and whatnot.
