Under Obama=16% unemployment rate for African Americans=highest since the great depression, over 50% of African American personal wealth has evaporated. Nineteen percent of homeless people are employed. More than 50% of single mothers are below the poverty line. Even with a job you can be impoverished. A "job" alone isn't the answer. I believe there are plenty of people who would much rather have a grant for education/training than a handout.

How is a shitty minimum wage job going to get anybody out of poverty? Because that's all you can get without job experience. And most young people have little or no job experience. I doubt Obama cares too much about African American unemployment. It may be the case that in his personal life he does care about African American unemployment; but in his political life he has made quite clear he takes the African American vote for granted. He knows if he has a good PR campaign and tells them to put their marching boots on that he will probably get most of them back on board for his re-election. Using political capital to address black issues is just unthinkable for him.
I think that no one should push a lie. Or good words to make any group of people feel better. I believe if given a chance the economy would be better. But, when you have the Congress against you. If you stereotype an entire "race" and give them certain benefits, the people who receive the benefits are often ones that they weren't intended to reach (ex. college diversity). Similarly, other "racial" groups who are in these classes are totally left behind.

How is a shitty minimum wage job going to get anybody out of poverty? Because that's all you can get without job experience. And most young people have little or no job experience. So a job really isn't going to help young people unless it's a living wage. Otherwise you won't even make enough money to pay rent let alone anything else. Or you can always go to college and take out thousands of dollars in loans that you have to pay back when you can't find a job after you graduate.

It may be the case that in his personal life he does care about African American unemployment; but in his political life he has made quite clear he takes the African American vote for granted. He knows if he has a good PR campaign and tells them to put their marching boots on that he will probably get most of them back on board for his re-election. Although certain groups are more likely to be in a certain class, and these groups tend to remain in the same class, I agree 100% that it isn't about helping any particular "race." If you stereotype an entire "race" and give them certain benefits, the people who receive the benefits are often ones that they weren't intended to reach (ex. college diversity). Similarly, other "racial" groups who are in these classes are totally left behind.

He is the president of the United States not the president of the blacks, he cannot target just black poverty and black unemployement, he has to target all poverty and all unemployement. Blacks can help themselfs by asking themselves y they r being discriminated the most, and don't just say whites just don't like blacks, there is a reason y they don't like blacks. Presiden ts just dont know what the fk to do. @TYT Thanks so much for what you've said today. President Obama is too fearful of looking like an African American president who is concerned about African American unemployment. That's why he is losing approval ratings where Black people are concerned. Giving the finger to Blacks who overwhelmingly supported him could hurt him in 2012, if Blacks don't turn out in the numbers they did in 2008. President Obama will have only himself to blame.

When ACORN was defunded because of an edited videotape and was given a unconstitutional "bill of attainer" in the process, no one came to their aid; The military industrial complex and the oil companies have done far worse than ACORN ever did. When Glenn Beck attacked Van Jones and said he was a communist because of some organization he was in when he was in college, Obama didn't come to his defense and didn't stop him from resigning. @Elaiyel If anything, Obama stuck up for Gates because he's a Harvard professor as he is so it was definitely a fraternal relationship but no proof that it was racially motivated. Also, he thought Gates was credible since he knew him personally so if the President was guilty of anything, it was not having enough information before he spoke.
