I would ave filled up the tub a little bit and turned off the water, cause they dont like the sounds of it. I would have talked very calm and quietly or not at all to make it less anxious. If possible I would have a friend pour a cup of water on the kitty's fur while I held them. :)

Word of Advice that has worked for my feline: Instead of bathing them with the water running, fill up the bath tub with a few inches of water and then proceed. Something about the running water scares them even more.

@tmeeks17 Maybe there is no proper way to bath a cat, because there is no need to. Cats are one of the neatly animals. Also most of them hate water so it's only stress for them to be bathed.

There may be some exceptions like when the cat god diarrhea and shits itself like crazy and you're keeping it indoor...

If your cat get fleas again, you should go to a pet store and get some powder or whatever they sell.

This will keep you unhurt and your cat will not be stressed out again :p

If you were a responsible cat owner, you would know that the noise of the running water is loud and will scare your cat. And when the water IS running, don't hold your cat and expect not to get scratched. And you're not suppose to put your cat under the running water. It's quite powerful and will hurt your cat. Oh and btw, about the streaming water. When my Jazzy (who was really bad when I gave him his first bad) was sick and had to spend about a week in the hospital, the nurse gave him baths daily IN THE SINK, under streaming water. He didn't even move a paw! That's the only place where he doesn't cause a slapstick-ish scandal when there are unpleasant situations.

I just made this experience this morning with my neighbours cat. poor kitty, and poor you, lol. Things I do to prepare my little devil for a bath is I make that bath water first. She is terrified of the sound of the faucet. While the water cool and sits I clip her nails so I don't get another scar on my arm ( yes the first time I bathed her was a lot like this clip you shot). Another thing I do is not raise my voice, I talk baby to her and it tends to calm her down.

I would say the sound of the water is what's really scaring the kitty. My cat has no problems with baths, but I recommend filling up a bucket of warm water and gently pouring it on her (avoiding the eyes) to wash out the shampoo. Also dipping a towel in the water and washing her that way. Putting the kitty directly under the faucet is what seems to be scaring her the most.

Try pet wipes too. You can get them for cats and for dogs at places like PetSmart or online on Amazon. They come in handy for pets that don't do well with water baths. They would probably work well on your short-haired cat.

Ouch! I have given my persian cat baths before and here are a few tips that may help you. Never have the faucet running water during the cat's bath. It scares the cat. Have the warm water ready in the tub before you put the cat in or even bring the cat in the bathroom. Have a separate bucket ready with warm water and a cup to gently pour clean water over the cat to rinse. Never hold the cat under the running faucet. Wear gloves too. Like the kind you do dishes in or the kind made for baths..

Step 1. Cut cats claws the day before and clean the ears. 2. Put warm water in tub when cat is not around and DO NOT run the water. 3.DO NOT use anything but WATER. 4.
