From a purely production value standpoint: 1) An overhead camera to cut to works wonders. 2) Better background music please 3) Commenting on your "tippy-toes" is not professional. 4) Photos of babies on the fridge during a cooking show is tacky. 5) Tones are still a bit yellow. Improved lighting and more careful color correction go a long way.
That looks so good, but i agree, a little too much sugar, you can try adding some freshly squeezed orange juice for natural sugar and a more tangy-sweet taste. And you can add just about less than a tablespoonfull of rum instead of corn syrup. Either way, it looks delicious.
personally the amount of sugar/ corn syrup wasn't needed...what happened to just blending the strawberries frozen with a few ice cubes(if needed) and sweetened with less sugar or a sugar substitute like stevia or xylitol
i think it is enough if you use some sweet grape juice or honey..but you will get used to the natural sugar in the fruit..you really don't need that sugar..
It's a simple sorbet recipe. You don't have to know what you're doing if it takes little stress to make.
At the beginning, she made a basic jam recipe. If you eat jam, you basically have the same amount of sugar. It's also a very large batch; with the large amount of water incorporated, the sorbet would have a flat flavour without that 3/4 cup of sugar.
Dyann explains the purpose of using the corn syrup (yes, made from corn) in this recipe. Substituting cane or other granulated sugar would defeat the purpose.
Actually, there is quite a difference. Besides, you can't replace the corn syrup with another sugar. It serves a particular purpose. it keeps ice crystals from forming in the sorbet as it's freezing. It's necessary in confectionery too as it keeps sugar crystals from forming in the melted granulated sugar. Point being, corn syrup is not what you think it is.
Well U R obviously not familiar w/companies like PB Loco that makes Asian Curry Spice peanut butter or ecreamery that makes basil flavored ice cream. People are out there on a professional level making sweet and savory dishes that are not commonly combined. I would never eat chocolate with chili in it but some people do. To each his own..
wow are you really that worried over the word fuck. what difference does it make. it doesn't make him sound anti-intellegent unless you are a fucking moron.
Your hands get really cold but it's a great workout. Try doing this with a friend, it's a lot of fun. But make sure that the bags are TIGHTLY sealed. That way you don't have rock salt and ice flying around and you don't get the rock salt in your sorbet mixture, yuck!
For anyone here who's without an ice cream maker,
You can try the ol' High School Chemistry Class "Ice Cream Lab" Method. Take two Ziploc bags, one large enough to hold the sorbet mixture, and one large enough to hold that bag and then some. Put the bag with the sorbet mixture inside of the larger baggy and line the inside of the bag with lots of ice and rock salt. Then you shake it until your sorbet has the right consistency.
oh my... That looks so good. ^^ You're recipes are really good and easy to follow and most 12 year olds don't find cooking fun i find it... totally awesome mega funn xD. Anyways thank you for posting all these beautiful recipts and dishes xD.
Unless your eating lard amounts of sugar then yeah, it will eventually become fat. I dont think a few table spoons will effect your body that much, unless you sit on around the house like a lump all :p.
True, a little won't hurt much. The problem is that sugar causes insulin levels to spike, which makes you crave more of it. Then it becomes really hard to just have a little.
this looks really good but i dont think i have an icecream machine so im gonna have o ask my mom to buy one. this sorbet looks like something i would buy from haagen dazs. yum
Hmmm...I don't remember saying I was making a low calorie product, did I? Personally, I would rather have 2 spoonfuls of something pure and tastey vs. a cup full of something artificial. To each his own, right?
@DyannBakes I think you are thinking of saccharin "sp" or perhaps Splenda which is a processed sugar base. Stevia is a plant. It is relatively expensive though so It may not be cost effective for some.
@DyannBakes Stevia is not artificial, it's a plant. Splenda on the other hand is completely artificial. Please check your sources before making false assumptions.

for those of us who need to watch our calories,
