I guess you can look at it that way, but before that? Well, Austria-Hungary had it for more years than Italy had it, etc. Istria was well populated with Croats and in the end, this is how it turned out. If I was Italian I would be sad to have lost such a city too, but hey, it's Croatian now and it will stay Croatian :)
However, in the summers the Italians pretty much take over anyway. Every other car is Italian...
Indeed, Istria has changed hands so many times and managed to stay multi-ethnic, in contrast to the Croatia-proper. I'd say this is still predominantly Venetian culture, though.
Maybe it should be a European region owned jointly by Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia. This would also solve the current Croatian-Slovenian dispute over the borders, and Croatia should be in EU anyway.
you're right, now it's croatian and to me this is not a problem, and in 2009 we can't claim that istria came back to italy..anyway to me for example the injustice starts when my grandma is not compensated for losing her house..

It should be in Italy now.
Rovigno (rovinj) have always been a Venetian city, not Croatian at all... it's easy to find out oneself just watching the images of this video.
Rovigno, as the whole Istria peninsula, was 'diplomatically' stolen to Italy by communist ex-Yugoslavia and WWII allies in 1947.
Italy will never resign her lands!

Rovinj is Croatia, stop crying.

I don't understand your language, so if you were replying to me, which you were, please keep it in English or Croatian.

Love this city, both in the summer and in the winter when it is somewhat empty.
