Bangladesh is poor for lot of reasons. And paying 28% to grameen bank will not make them rich. Sure, it will make Mr Younus rich. and it partners mostly French and American firms will be rich.

Mr Younus is jumping in with bottled water... Again to help the poor... and the environment.... He sure is a good Business Man.... Just not ethical

micro credit is helping to get a lot of people out of poverty, the project has been a success, if it doesnt work how comes many other countries now have micro credit? from russia to colombia, people will tell you that micro-credit works

u want to remove poverty. Abolish interest, fiat money and fractional reserve banking and any sort of capitalism. Not lend them at 20 or 30 %. Now about it working, actually its a bit misleading. Many borrowers payback by further borrowing from another microcredit company, hence getting trapped in a permanent debt trap, that only fills the pocket of capitalist moneylenders!

I totally agree with you akrasd! Grameen Bank has only helped Mr. Younus to become a millionaire and make him popular, but has done nothing for poor. These moneylenders think by giving loans at usurious rates will help remove poverty. How pathetic!

Mr Yunus, has brougth capitalism to the poor, that is why he got the noble prize. Bankers exploited the world's middleclass with their marketing and ... but still could not touch the poor of the third world. And Younus did it.

It is different cuz in first place it allows poor a banking access.2 No other bank in the world gives lone to ppl of such status. And it has been improving milions of poor families life.I can tell a lot to prove ur standing wrong. n u r wrong.Anything???
