• @bigwrench101 and @Rocky11107 I thought I was the only person my age that listened to this type of music. Whenever I tell my friends I listen to 'shoegaze' they look at me with a confused look lol

  • I am shoegazing through life.

  • this band is a bit out of my generation. haha. im 19 years old, but if i ever find a girl who listens to ride i will wifey her.

  • @bigwrench01 im a chick and i fucking love ride....also 19 and glad this band is in my life.

  • @Rocky11107 a girl that loves ride is a winning combination in my books

  • What an album. Everybody keeps remembering how good My bloody Valentine were, they forgot about this. Much better, IMO. Their second album is great as well.

  • @jesuisarmenienne i agree mate in my personal opnion i think my bloody valentine are maybe the most overated band of all time ,they never did anthing even close to this and slowdive piss all over em. i dont rate kevin shields as a guitarist or songwriter , nick maccabes on a different level

  • xxx~*...like dis if ur dreams choke u evry time...~*xxx

  • The best album cover ever

  • This was always my favourite Ride track - epic!

  • I miss playing my vinyl of this, I do still have it on vinyl but I have no space to set up my deck :(.

  • This album cover reminds me of Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division.

  • 20 years ago.. on real. time moves way to fast..

  • I'm 35 now but dreams still burn down...

  • ...... doesnt get much better, does it?? <3

  • this is amazing

  • podria decirse !! este un super grupo UK!! shoegazen

  • Ride's finest moment. Great track

  • "when the Levee Breaks", by Zeppelin, anyone? Compare the drum intro! But all the great ideas are "borrowed" anyhow. And "Dreams..." is the better song.

  • @rossisland11 same thought man,

  • @rossisland11 so i suppose you think the drums on Pearl by Chapterhouse were borrowed as well??

  • @solridan did you actually listen to "When the Levee Breaks"? Do you think it is a coincidence? I think that Andy Bell is quite familiar with British rock music of the 60s and 70s. Did Chapterhouse borrow anything from the past? Undoubtedly. It doesn't make them less of a band.

  • @rossisland11 thought of 'When the Levee Breaks' when I first heard the start of this song. I see at more as taking inspiration from another song though so it doesn't really bother me

  • @rossisland11 I hear the similarities to Levee Breaks, however, the beat is still very different. I would not categorize this as a 'steal or copy' or even a fair comparison... quite different.

  • This was my Anthem when I was 17/18, walking along with this on my headphones, or laying on my bed, lost in my own place, everything was blissful and this was perfection. Still love this song as much, it's timeless. I agree with FrickinEm, it is like being in a trance...that thrasy guitar bit would get me every time no matter how many times I re-wound my tape (yes, tape).

I'm off to go and buy a pair of dockers now....

    Chive on.

  • One of the best songs of the 20th century for me at least.

  • this song's like being in a trance

  • This reminds me of being a lil f*^% up, walking to the alternative school, Qwest. Long walk jus 2 avoid the tard bus n get a ride from my boys. Oh my sad/awesome years....Ride is truly quality:-)

  • Ride is and will be my AllTimeFavourite.

  • Beautiful...

"Enorme" as they say in France now.

Yet, yet, yet... MBV and The Charlottes are unreacheable

  • great genius track brilliant

  • I wish my volume went upto 11

  • @dyaimz My volume goes up to 30. It's still not loud enough!

  • It never gets old. Timeless....

  • Great song

  • ♥ just beautiful.

  • Compare the section of this song at 2:10 with Quicksand's "Transparent" at 1:00... gotta be a funny accident. Nearly note for note exactly the same. Love both bands though

  • This is probably a total accident, but compare the section of this song at 2:15 and Quicksand's "Transparent" at 1:05... I love both bands. Just a hilarious similarity.

  • Powerful in every way. The incredible thing is there are so many other songs they did THAT ARE BETTER

  • After all these years from the 1st time I bought it on vinyl then playing it @ The Twilight Zone on my night Bliitzkrieg @ full volume 143 db @ 5' !!!! With all the change of music since then...

"Dreams' and "Leave" STILL ...DOES IT... It Ignites the Sonic Temple of my mind.

  • Have a vague memory of seeing Ride at the 9:30 club in '90?,'91? with Lush opening.Shoegazing ecstacy....

  • @serf442 yep, saw them in philly just around the same time (it wasn't a dream). Going Blank Again tour I think? Andy Bell, Alan Wild are the only reason I got into Oasis....

  • Absolutely stunning and shimmering!

  • The best fade - in....

    NICE

  • i don't HAVE a favorite Ride song...but they are certainly a great band...<3

    'Nowhere' kicks ass, though :D

  • Ride took it from Led Zep, Coldplay took it from led Zep, simple as

  • Nice - now put 'Taste' on line so I can listen to that at work also!

  • Another classic!

  • Remember having a fit to this song at The Aberdeen Music Hall in '91 fucking strobes! quality song

  • My favorite Ride song. Please bring the band back together for a reunion tour!

  • this is music

  • Unbelievable track. One of my favourite albums of all time. Only have it on vinyl and no record player so gonna have to download it today.

  • i wish it was 1990 instead of 2010

  • @KevinHeaven9 You wouldn't be posting on YouTube; whilst listening to your favourite tracks.... ;)

Know what you mean though... no one makes music like this any more.

  • @KevinHeaven9 ...every single one of them years should be fuckin' 1990!

  • @KevinHeaven9 I know, I know; but if it's any consolation, back then we had no idea what we were really listening to.

  • @KevinHeaven9 It would still end up being 2010 eventually.

  • @KevinHeaven9

Then have to wait until they release all their music?

Have no access to amazing bands like "Them Crooked Vultures" or "The Black Keys"?

Have no way of hearing music by Robert Johnson unless you spend hours in record stores searching for old vinyl that will ultimately be too scratched to appreciate?

We are beyond lucky to live now, we have access to all the best old music, and, contrary to popular belief, just as much filth is released today as was 20 years ago.

  • @KevinHeaven9 It still is over here...Always will be.

  • She's effortlessly cool.

  • @udavidovic really really love that sentence!

  • great track ,really enjoy listerning to it today as i did all those years ago

  • in my plase :)

  • a blast !

  • i listen to ride a lot. but i still will glady listen to MBV over them. but i appreciate both band very much

  • wow - that's mighty powerful

  • Dreams burn down?

  • it is one of the Best Album of this time, don´t be surprise )))))) it is my favorite

  • This song is just frickin' amazing. Same with A Different Place. Loved these so much back in high school. Takes me back.

  • My ears bleed, my mind loves.

  • It should be law that from 4' 37" this track should be regularly played at the highest amplitude your sys.is capable of.

  • l remember doing drugs and blissing out to this album in san francisco when it came out. wonderful stuff.

  • Very mathematically beautiful. RIDE. A WAVE.

Waiting , hoping for a sign, that what will glitter can be mine.

  • @dazmalski 'that what's forbidden, can be mine' surely?

  • Their first album was like, best-debut-ever. Their second was more mainstream but still totally brilliant. Third...hmmm, some good songs, some not so good (it was like that scene in Trainspotting when they're talking about Lou Reed, I wanted to believe they were still great, but I knew deep down they were losing it). Final album, I think I played it once and then gave it away to Oxfam, asking myself How did such a once-great band go so crap? Never mind, at least we still have these memories.

  • heh;-)

  • it sounds like coldplay-in my place ;-)

  • @tomsor15

Yeah and they most likely copied the intro or whatever. They don't care though, the money they pay bands like Ride and Kraftwerk (they used the riff from "Computer Love" on "Talk") to use their riffs doesn't amount to how much they end up making on tours and CD sales. Personally I really don't care much for Coldplay. I used to really like them until I realized how unoriginal they were.

  • @tomsor15 hahahahahahahahahahahahaha youre joking. funny.

  • This is amazing. Why is music like this a forgotten genre?

  • I remember I listened so much to this song during my teen years. Genius guitar.

  • Andy bELL T_T

  • A Journey into the soul ... EVERYBODY WHO LOVES THIS.. TURN THIS UP TWEEK UNTIL Goosebumps Cheers!!

  • Mid section at 2:20s is just about as heavy as anything I have heard...sweet.

  • Great...my joint favourite Ride song...joint with Polar Bear.

  • best debut album of all time

  • Muy buena cancion, siempre cuando escucho esta cancion siempre pienso en mi compadre "el machete"......siempre tocaba esta rolla, y me decia que me imaginara el paraiso

  • does no one see how this was copied by coldplay for 'in my place'????

  • Intro is very similar but cold play are shite ride are not.

  • @Tidpole WELL SAID

  • @Tidpole Ride are everything Coldplay wish they were and never will be.

  • @Tidpole Coldplay are open fans of shoegaze and Ride. It's obvious from songs like "Yellow" and "Chinese Sleep Chant".

  • @Tidpole critical bitical, if you don't just love...shush or smooch yourself, or what ever it you do to refill your cup, in this case hate. you are sucking like the Tidpole

  • @orionfever and your talking balls, who said I hate Cold Play ? I made an honest opinion that they are shite and Ride ain't, so take girlie comments back to the Teletubby Forums in peace and do not presume I hold any malice towards you or any artist you like. though others may.

  • @orionfever fuck off, both of you... enjoy the music or leave. i don't think anyone deserves to read these cheap comments - after this precise comment is posted i'll ignore everything you've typed, because your accusations and assumptions bother me. farewell.

  • @Tidpole

Well it's obvious who ripped off who. This song is much older.

  • @Tidpole Defensive much?

  • @Tidpole Yeah and how much shit did coldplay steal from U2 lol a fuckload.

  • I always thought that the beginning of "In My Place" was a sort of homage to this song. It maybe a coincidence, but I believe that the Coldplays should have heard Ride at that time.

  • @hmgauna you know I sort of get that feeling with a lot of Coldplay songs, I can hear more than an influence, almost a direct copy of tracks from Animals, My Bloody Valentine, New Order and an Argentine group called Soda.

  • It does sound like Coldplay slowed it down, and the rifs sound similar, too.

  • @Shoegazzzer Coldplay has ripped off a lot of artists. Very unoriginal. Too bad they got paid and Ride didn't.

  • @ditimely True - I'd add Radiohead to that too.

  • love this song!!!

  • One of the best Indie tracks of all time.

  • @Tidpole indie is the worst music term ever invented

  • @94mrwhite Completely disagree, in the 90's "Indie" regarding anything signed to a indie label at the time was very relivent during the early 90's when this record was released, due to the dominance of the majors and the reluctance of the record buying public to buy anything other than main stream. Creation and a few other labels changed that with the help of Grunge and underground techno but sadly the big labels brought that out too. Hence why we live in the X factor world now.

  • @Tidpole I agree with what you said but i think it's incorrect now to use the term indie becauste its meaning has changed a lot since the timai t was firsty used. Anyways what is important is playing/listening good music independent or not. As for X Factor..it's not music it's just a commercial product

  • @Tidpole I agree with what you said but i think it's incorrect now to use the word indie becauste its meaning has changed a lot since the time it was first used. Infact i think that the only important thing is playing/listening good music independent or not. As for X-Factor..it's not music it's just a commercial product for the musically ignorant masses. It's always nice to share thoughts

  • @94mrwhite You are correct that Indie has definately changed from what it was, the whole music Industry changed with technology and the ease it is to get stuff out there. I liked the Idealogy of what Indie became back then with Creation,4AD Factory etc. but it didn't make always money and finally the Artists have to make money which I have nothing against. Music today is too much about high level production and not the fun anymore. There are execptions always mind maybe I'm getting old.

  • @Tidpole 4AD are signing a bunch of shitty LA hipster bands..I am dissapoint, I too am getting old...

  • @Tidpole Shoegazing!

  • yeah, bitchin' song!!!!!!!!!!!!! cool upload. this has made my christmas day!
