  • hit-and-miss?

  • I used to like engines too but then I took an arrow engine in the knee

  • @MentallyRaped fail

  • They still run arrow hit and miss engines in northwest louisiana. they looked brand new with green engine paint and a yellow flywheel and a white 55 gallon drum of coolant or maybe fuel hooked to it. i was too far away to see what was in the drum. im thinking coolant. they ran 24/7.

  • Good job

  • Nice video derekdz

  • i used to start those engine's but then i took an arrow to the knee

  • Houston we have a problem. I want to go and dig for my filmpitch that has vanished from my tube channel.

  • I cant help but to see the white "propane tank" is the engine feuled by propane??

  • @brianradomski

Propane is used till the well can sustain on it's own gas production.

  • @derekdz You think gasoline is just pumped out of the ground? Wow.

  • @unclesara

I do? Where did I say that?

  • @derekdz Is this engine ordinarily run on oil, or gasoline?

  • @chibichan1701

    '

This engine runs on either propane or natural gas *wellhead gas*.

  • @derekdz This is a crude oil pump jack, the Arrow engine runs on refined gasoline. Not propane, not crude oil.

  • @unclesara

This one mainly runs on wellhead gas, but at the time of the video, it was running on propane.

  • Oilpatch trash

  • Awesome to see some of the "way it used to be" pieces still working.

  • Gaugers make the world go round

  • Who could possibly "dislike" this video?

  • Good thing the jack's not engage. Carl could be beaned with a counterweight! This one has the engine mounted backwards....why I don't know. Amazing that it runs.

  • by the way its running I'm guessing its a hit and miss? and then outta curiosity did the smoke lay down after some run time? or were the rings fried?

  • @MF11283

The smoke went down after just a few minutes. It was just burning some of the oil off which we put on the lifters.

  • Rockin !!~

  • is that how its supposed to run?

  • @celesteraez

No. This was turning it on for the first time in over a decade. Had to add some oil to the valves and piston directly to help lube it up. This is just the excess oil burning off. Once the oil was burned off, the smoke was finished and burned real clean.

  • Depending on one's personal time of reference an "old arrow " engine is a Climax or a Continental engine Am electric stater, isn't that like cheating? :) The bassakwards mounting on the pumping unit, mean a brain fart when adjusting the carb or fuel under load could hurt if 1 loose track of t he crank & weights as they swing by

  • I worked on some before and i have seen them between 15 to 25 HP if i remember correctly and some run from the gas straight out of the ground. and i think the feature is pretty cool that you can change the oil on the fly to.

  • @walles2be I have worked a lot with these engines. Changing oil on the fly would be more trouble than it would be worth IMO.

  • looks like my grandpa

  • i love watching pump jacks... my grandpa used to tell me about them all the time... he worked on them in kansas... i have a question, dont mean to sound stupid, but where does the oil go that is being pulled up? ive seen some that are moving, but nothing around it... and generally how much money can be made if you have one of these machines?

  • @Wyrehedd242 flowlines generally run underground carrying the oil and water to a tank battery/ central processing facility.

  • @Wyrehedd242 " Lead lines" take the fluid to tank batteries that could be a mile away in some instances. Stating the obvious how much many you can make depends on a lot of factors.

  • i dont think those motors will ever quit. I love crankstarting those things.

  • what is this one used for suppose extracting or what??

  • Its a oil pump.

  • that sounds real good glad you got it going

  • Thanks. I am currently working on a lease that has been shut down for 10 years. Can't wait to see what it will do.

  • they run the hec out of those engines in colo and wyo ive worked on them alot there actulay ajax engines arrow took over

  • These engines are still being made. I didn't think they made these kinds of engines anymore.

  • Arrow still makes them. Don't know the newer quality though.

  • @derekdz I work fo arrow, the quality is as good as china can produce.

for the lowest price arrow wants to pay.

  • @drdumphole

wow. i haven't had any problems with the old Arrow's. I haven't been around the new models yet.

  • Y Nada!

  • Is that full speed ? How fast ? How many Hp ? Kind of fuel? Really nice.

  • It can run on propane or natural gas. Here its propane. I don't know the HP.

  • Not enough gas in the deposit for it to run there?

  • its more about torque....enough torque to suck the blood out of the mother earth......OIL a.k.a. black gold

  • Great .

    thank you

  • The engine runs great for sitting around for years.

  • Give'r a nice shot of NOS!, that will make her rip!

  • Great video!

  • Thanks. Carl worked on this motor over 10 years ago on the same well.

  • she's trying

  • Look like a C-96. Worked on those babies for over 10 years. Love it!!

  • nice sound!!!

  • Neat! And the bugs in the cotton field are goners!

  • @oldbogus

Now THAT's what I call multi purpose yeah?? LOL

  • @oldbogus so are the plants
