How many composites are you using for these? It looks like single frame (synthetic), 2, or possibly 3. Or you are just using a less aggressive algorithm.
I dont think you really know what an HDR photo is , to let you know , HDR is for those pictures which arent detailed and some parts of the picture is very dark or very bright , and HDR will fix it.
what you have done to your pictures , you just made them so freakin dark and out of quality and they just look fake at one point ... personally I didnt enjoy !
You really need to upload these in High Def. as it is, you can't see any detail and it sucks. they look like they would be good, but we can't see them
just a quick question? can anyone do this type of photography? or is it reserved for only the most experienced? i have photoshop CS3 - can i do it on there?
the poster did some nice work - the great thing about it is that he's gradually moving to his own style where technical aspects don't matter much.
raw post-pro would be noisy but it would do for this non-extreme style. but I wouldn't call that cartoons. he's keeping well away from even starting being crazy
Yep true (I'd take some of these probably a little farther to show a little more range)
But I think this is his style, and I myself dont like these pictures you see often, where the effects are too much over the top.
Some of these images this guy shows, could actually be achieved with a good camera..so it's interesting to see that you can achieve pretty dramatic scenes with fairly plain photos and without the over processed look :)
when i was doing these pictures of the train station i wasn't aware of the fact that in my country (poland) one should be careful because train stations are protected there is a lot of guards around the station, and also shooting photos of the trains and stations is forbidden. fortunately I didn't ave any problems because of the photos there ;)
Those pictures.....one of yur pictures from here, for exmaple, are just 3 pictures with 3 different tipes of exposure and combined?nothing else, no effect on top...or smth?
so first you have to take 3 shots with +-1EV (usually it's the best). i use photomatix 3.1 PRO where i merge these shots into one JPG file, an of course i use different mapping tone sets.
Hdr isn' t cheating because it ruins otherwise perfectly good photos. It doesn't make them into works of art either - unless you call tacky, sickly picture postcards 'works of art'. Its just ugly, vulgar and most importantly stupid. If you like HDR you are quite probably stupid - so now you know!
hdr means just extending the dynamic range and represent it through 32 bit floating point per channel, is a mix of physics and digital processing tecnique. The cheating component of the entire HDR workflow is the tone-mapping procedure (32 bit floating to 8 bit)
i dont get why it would be stupid to create HDR. the effects are gorgeous, it's like saying "why using colors?" cause black and white films once rule the market.
hdr is made to even see in the shadow but you added more shadows. (look at the trees around 2:00 it should be possible to see their structure and color after combining the photos you made)
Fajne zabawy, ale polecam dążyć do jak największego realizmu ;) Pozdrawiam!

It's CARTOONS rather then photos. Also don't see much details added.
Of course it could be exactly the artistic effect the author was aiming for...
It would be nice to compare these HDR results with RAWs post-processed with simple curves.
Even easier. Just take picasa, max "fill light" and cut off extra shadows. 10sec per pic. I bet ppl will vote for non-hdr in half cases.
Looking forward to new video
5star for this great thought provoking vid
Thanks!

hdr is sorta cheating
it turns an ok photo into an intresting eyecatching work of art
i use it for macro, because it brings out the textures better
but using it for landscape is just unfair to the photographers that do with out it

why don't you let people do what ever they want, and talk only for your self.

HDR creates a more stylized look than a plain picture. Some like it, others don't but it is certainly not to be used in all situations.

brainSuckers92 3 years ago
I agree. The same result could have been gotten for a majority of the pictures with a single shot and some curve adjusting in photoshop.
But that doesn't really matter. If you get the results you want doing it they way you want then go for it.
